Patience

Bible Questions Answered:
“... I've been praying for these people over three years now and no answer...”
Ruddy/ Grand Rapids, Michigan U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Psalm 13:1 KJV
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

Psalm 69:3 KJV
I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Things don't always happen the way we wish they would. God hears all the prayers of His people, rest assured of that, but the reasons as to why they are not all answered the way we wish, is manifold.

Perseverance of faith, trust, belief, etc. etc. The Apostle Paul tells us....

Hebrews 10:36 KJV
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

God is never rushed, and our God surely seeks to have His people learn patience!

(Just a few examples.)

*) The Jews waited in Egypt, under slavery, some 430 years, before Moses was sent. (Exodus 12:40).

*) The Jews once delivered from Egypt, had to wait another 40 years before entering the promised land. (Deuteronomy 29:5)

*) God kept Moses waiting in the Midian desert for 40 years, before he was sent to lead the people of God.

*) Joseph languished in prison for years.

*) Abraham prayed for a son till he was 100 years old.

*) Though David was anointed King, he was on the run for 15 years, before he came to the throne.

*) The first mention of a Messiah in Genesis 3:15, until The Messiah's birth were some four millenniums.

II Peter 3:8 KJV
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with The Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Patience:

Psalm 37:7 KJV
Rest in The Lord, and wait patiently for Him..."

Psalm 40:1 NLT
I waited patiently for The Lord to help me, and He turned to me and heard my cry.

Isaiah 25:9 KJV
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us: this is The Lord; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.

Isaiah 26:8 KJV
Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

Isaiah 33:2 NLT
But Lord, be merciful to us, for we have waited for you. Be our strong arm each day and our salvation in times of trouble.

Acts 1:4,5 KJV
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for The Promise Of The Father, which, saith He, ye have heard of Me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with The Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Titus 2:1,2 NLT
1 As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.
2 Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience.

James 1:3,4 KJV
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

James 5:7,8 NLT
7 Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for The Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.
8 You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of The Lord is near.

II Peter 1:5-8 KJV
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear friends, whatever we do, let's keep believing, and praying, God answers prayer if we …

Mark 13:13 KJV
