Salvation - By Poverty

Bible Questions Answered:
“Lazarus went to heaven, because he was poor, then so will all the poor of the world ...”
Hal/ Park City, Kansas U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:
Luke 16:19-23 KJV
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom (Paradise): the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

This is “not,” a parable, but a true story. Jesus never used proper names in parables. The name of the lost, according to tradition, was Dives, but the names of the lost are forever forgotten.

Hosea 2:17 KJV
For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

Zechariah 13:2 KJV
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith The Lord Of Hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

The story before us, of two Jewish men, one was saved, one was, forever lost.
And the question before us is, why was Lazarus saved??

The answer dear friend, is in his name!

Lazarus: Hebrew in origin, and the meaning of the Hebrew name is “God is my help.”

Lazarus' parents were, Godly Jewish people, who gave their son his name.
And may we assume something else, as Hebrews, God's people, they knew well the command....

Proverbs 22:6 KJV
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Lazarus may well have been poor, and sick, but hardly without faith!
Lazarus had faith in The Living God!

Galatians 3:6 KJV
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Faith in The Lord, takes one to heaven, not poverty!

Today, we need believers like the noble Bereans!

Acts 17:10-12 NLT
10 That very night the believers (Thessalonian believers) sent Paul and Silas to Berea. When they arrived there, they went to the Jewish synagogue.
11 And the people of Berea were more open-minded (more noble-KJV) than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched The Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching The Truth.
12 As a result, many Jews believed, as did many of the prominent Greek women and men.

Friend, what does your name say?
God, is my helper”?

The rich man had as his helper, his riches, but at the time of death, he had “no,” helper, and he was forever lost.

The Word:

Romans 10:9-10 KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth The Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Luke 23:39-43 KJV
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on Him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other (The Penitent Thief) answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this Man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise.

P.S. Lazarus, was already there.
