Greed

Bible Questions Answered:
“...I'm sick of reading everyday how politicians, banks and, companies have robbed people blind, what will happen in our country if all this goes on unchecked!”
Daliane/ Annecy, France

Bible Answer:
The Bible has much to say concerning the subject of greed.
And the list does not end there, individuals, churches, religious leaders, religious organizations etc. etc.

One of the most glaring sins in the church of Jesus Christ today, is out right hypocrisy.
When a religious leader gets up and tells people he is trusting God, and he has a portfolio of millions of dollars, he is nothing but a liar!

Is it any wonder why our government, our people, are in the sin of idolatry, when its very spiritual leaders, live for all the money they can shovel?

This old pastor has said it before and He will now say it again.
To be admired (not their theology), the Roman Catholic Church, when they (don't know if this is still true today) have priests, who have taken a “vow of poverty!”

You know where they are coming from! They're not in it for filthy lucre!
They are serving God, because that is what they have been called to do, and do it for free.

Want to know how spiritual you church is, your pastor, your denominational leader is, ask them what their salary is! OK read that again!

Is it exorbitant? Then it should be dealt with. (Then again if it is not sufficient, that too, should be dealt with.)

Don't take no for an answer, don't let anyone buffalo you by saying their salary is set by a certain board, etc. etc.. or that their salary is a part of their administrative office total (so that no one's salary may be known).

This is where “honesty,” meets the road!  If your pastor, religious leader, organizational Bishop, Superintendent, etc. etc. can't answer this question......time to move on!

It is time for honesty to rule and reign from the House of the Lord!

Biblical References regarding Covetousness:

Exodus 18:21 KJV (The words of Moses to his people.)
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

Exodus 20:17 KJV (10th Commandment)
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Job 31:24,25,28 KJV
24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence
25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the Judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.

Psalm 10:3 KJV
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.

Proverbs 15:27 KJV
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

Proverbs 21:26 KJV
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 NLT
Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!

Isaiah 56:11 NLT
Like greedy dogs, they are never satisfied. They are ignorant shepherds, all following their own path and intent on personal gain.

Jeremiah 6:13-15 NLT (Judah's rebellion.)
13 “From the least to the greatest, their lives are ruled by greed. From prophets to priests, they are all frauds.
14 They offer superficial treatments for My people’s mortal wound.
They give assurances of peace when there is no peace.
15 Are they ashamed of their disgusting actions? Not at all—they don’t even know how to blush!
Therefore, they will lie among the slaughtered. They will be brought down when I punish them,” says the Lord.

Jeremiah 8:8-10 NLT (Jeremiah's warnings to Judah.)
8 “‘How can you say, “We are wise because we have the word of the Lord,” when your teachers have twisted it by writing lies?
9 These wise teachers will fall into the trap of their own foolishness,
for they have rejected the word of the Lord. Are they so wise after all?
10 I will give their wives to others and their farms to strangers.
From the least to the greatest, their lives are ruled by greed.
Yes, even My prophets and priests are like that. They are all frauds.

Jeremiah 51:13 KJV (Babylon)
O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

Micah 3:11,12 NLT
11 You rulers make decisions based on bribes; you priests teach God’s laws only for a price;
you prophets won’t prophesy unless you are paid. Yet all of you claim to depend on the Lord.
“No harm can come to us,” you say, “for the Lord is here among us.”
12 Because of you, Mount Zion will be plowed like an open field; Jerusalem will be reduced to ruins!
A thicket will grow on the heights where the Temple now stands.

Matthew 6:19-21,24,25,31-33 KVJ
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 13:22 KJV
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Matthew 16:26 KJV
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 19:23,24 KJV
23 Then said Jesus unto His disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Mark 7:21-23 KJV (People led by greed, are in league with...)
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Luke 12:15,33,34 KJV
15 And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Acts 20:33 KJV (Apostle Paul)
I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.

Romans 1:28-32 NLT (All in judgment together.)
28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, He abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.
29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, "greed", hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.
30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.
31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy.
32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

I Corinthians 5:10,11 KJV
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or "covetous", or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

I Corinthians 6:9,10 NLT
9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols (money), or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,
10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

I Corinthians 10:14 KJV
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

II Corinthians 6:16 KJV
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Galatians 5:19-21 NLT
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
20 idolatry (love of money), sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Ephesians 4:18,19 KJV
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Ephesians 5:3,5 KJV
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or "covetousness", let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Colossians 3:2,5,6 NLT
2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
5 So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
6 Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.

Philippians 3:18,19 KJV
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

I Thessalonians 2:4-6 NLT (Apostle Paul)
4 For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.
5 Never once did we try to win you with flattery, as you well know. And God is our witness that we were not pretending to be your friends just to get your money!
6 As for human praise, we have never sought it from you or anyone else.

I Timothy 3:3 NLT (Paul's qualifications for leaders in the church-verses 1-12.)
He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money.

I Timothy 6:5-11,17 NLT
5 These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.
6 Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.
7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.
8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.
9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
11 But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

II Timothy 3:1,2 NLT
1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.
2 For people will love only themselves and their money..."

Titus 1:7 KJV
For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre (money);

Hebrews 13:5 KJV
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

James 5:1-3 KJV
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

I Peter 5:2 KJV
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre (money), but of a ready mind;

II Peter 2:3,14,15 NLT
3 In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.
14 They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse.
15 They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor, who loved to earn money by doing wrong.

I John 2:15-17 KJV
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

I John 5:21 KJV
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Jude 11 (False Teachers.)
What sorrow awaits them! For they follow in the footsteps of Cain, who killed his brother. Like Balaam, they deceive people for money. And like Korah, they perish in their rebellion.

Revelation 21:8 KJV
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Is it any wonder at all, why the beloved Apostle Paul warned...
I Timothy 6:10 KJV
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I Peter 4:17 KJV
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Christian Victory-Paths To

Bible Questions Answered:
“How can one keep from sinful pleasures?”
Georgi/ Yaroslvavl, Russia

Bible Answer:
When a person comes to the Lord, he finds he has two natures within. A Godly nature, and yet the old sinful nature within.

These two constantly fight, the one against thee other.
Galatians 5:16,17 KJV
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Romans 8:5-14 KJV
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:5-14 NLT
5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.
8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to Him at all.)
10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.
11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do.
13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

When will this personal battle with sin end?
Not until we see the Lord.

I John 3:2 KJV
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

Today, even though we may be in the battle, we may have the victory!

II Corinthians 12:9 (Apostle Paul, and his thorn in the flesh.)
And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I John 4:4 KJV
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

As Christians, we must resist temptations of evil.

Romans 13:11-14 NLT
11 This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.
13 Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.
14 Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.

PATHS TO CHRISTIAN VICTORY:

When a Christian falls into sin, we are to confess that sin and turn an about face from it.

Proverbs 28:13 KJV
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Matthew 6:12,13 KJV (The Lord's Prayer.)
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

I John 1:9,10 KJV
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Colossians 3:5-10 NLT
5 So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
6 Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.
7 You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.
8 But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.
9 Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.
10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.

SEVEN PIECES OF SPIRITUAL CHRISTIAN ARMOR:

Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Vs. 14 The Belt of Truth:

Every Christian, should have a love for the Word of God!
Read it, study it, and above all memorize it.

Psalm 119:9 KJV
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Colossians 3:16 KJV
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Vs. 14 The Breastplate of righteousness:

Leviticus 11:45 KJV
For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Luke 1:74,75 KJV
74 That He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life.

II Corinthians 7:1 KJV
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Hebrews 12:14 KJV
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

I Peter 1:16 KJV
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

II Peter 3:11 KJV
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and Godliness,

Vs. 15 The Gospel of Peace:

Matthew 24:14 KJV
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Matthew 28:19 KJV
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Mark 16:15 KJV
And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Romans 1:16 KJV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 10:8-11 KJV
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.

Vs. 16 The Shield of Faith:

II Chronicles 20:20 KJV
"... Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe His prophets, so shall ye prosper."

Romans 5:1 KJV
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Romans 10:17 KJV
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

I Timothy 6:12 KJV
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Hebrews 10:22 NLT
let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

Hebrews 11:1,6 KJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

I John 5:4 KJV
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Vs. 17 The Helmet of Salvation:

Salvation through Jesus Christ, God the eternal Father's, eternal Son.

John 10:9 KJV (Jesus Christ)
I am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Acts 4:11,12 KJV
11 This is the Stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the Head of the Corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 15:11 KJV
But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved..."

Romans 5:8,9 KJV
8 But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

I Thessalonians 5:9,10 KJV
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us..."

Hebrews 9:28 KJV
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Vs. 17  The Sword of the Spirit: (The Word of God.)

Psalm 19:7-11 KJV
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Psalm 119:9,105,130,142 KJV
9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

Isaiah 40:8 KJV
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Matthew 5:18 KJV
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Matthew 24:35 KJV
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.

John 5:39 KJV
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.

John 6:63 KJV
It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life.

John 15:3 KJV
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Ephesians 5:25-27 KJV
25 ... Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it;
26 That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

II Timothy 3:16,17 NLT

Heart-The

Bible Questions Answered:
“...some people just preach preach preach do this do that, I know in my heart what is right or wrong so who needs all this preaching stuff?”
Dana/ Burbank, California

Bible Answer:

Psalm 19:14 KJV
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my Strength, and my Redeemer.

Psalm 119:9 NLT
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.

Matthew 4:4 KJV
But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

John 6:63 KJV
It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life.

Now, regarding the heart of man:

Genesis 6:5 KJV
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Psalm 94:11 KJV
The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Homily:

You may have in your home a beautiful grandfather clock. Tall and ornate, with brass and fine woods, with numerals of polished silver. Its chimes may come from imported pipes of fine balanced pitch.
And yet, if the clock, never tells the correct time, at best it would be a pitiful deviation from that which is correct, and of use to no one.

Such is the heart of the one not right with God.

Jeremiah 17:9 KJV
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Matthew 15:19 KJV (Moral depravity.)
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Mark 7:21-23 KJV
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Romans 1:21 KJV
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Hebrews 3:12,13 KJV
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

May our hearts be fully given over to the Lord:

Deuteronomy 5:28,29 KJV
28 ...and the LORD said...
29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear Me, and keep all My commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Psalm 57:57 KJV
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Jeremiah 24:7 KJV
And I will give them an heart to know Me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be My people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto Me with their whole heart.

Ezekiel 11:19,20 KJV
19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new Spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
20 That they may walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

Ezekiel 36:26,27 KJV
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them.

Luke 8:15 NLT (Luke 8:11 “...The seed is the word of God.)
And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit: Special Miracles By The Hand Of Paul

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit: Miracles Of The Apostle Paul.

God's Messenger: Apostle Paul.

Bible Location: Ephesus.

Bible Text:

Acts 19:11,12 KJV
11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

Acts 19:11 KJV
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

The Apostle Paul was a born again, baptized Christian, and one who had been “endued with the power of the Holy Spirit,” such as the Disciples had been, in the upper room at Pentecost.

And how pray tell how do we know that?
We know it by its evidence, as given by the Apostle himself.

I Corinthians 13:1 KJV
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels..."

I Corinthians 14:5,18 KJV (The Apostle Paul.)
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues..."
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

Acts 19:5,6 KJV
(Apostle Paul, prayed for baptized Christians, to receive the enduement of the Holy Spirit's power(Luke 24:49).
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

If there is one thing the church of the Lord Jesus Christ needs well today, it is a real move towards the miracle working power of God the Holy Spirit.

We've tried church programs, church suppers, church talent scouts, debates, rock groups, interpretative dancing, what's next?

And the hurting who come, ...go away the same way they have come.

Is it any wonder why the church doesn't have any longer Wednesday night Bible class, or Sunday night prayer meeting?

Our own ingenuity, our own eloquent speaking, no matter how profound, just won't cut it in the realm of the spirit. What a blow to the ecclesiastical ego of man!

What was it our Saviour said?
Luke 24:49 KJV
And, behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

In all our rushing to do things well, we have out run the Lord, who has called us.
What we need to do is to STOP.
What we need to do is to TARRY.
What we need is to be ENDUED, with the power of the Holy Spirit, so that our Church, our Ministry is Spirit, lead, and Spirit, empowered.

Acts 19:13-17 KJV
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

Acts 19:12 KJV
So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

God's man of power and might, could not be everywhere. Paul then determined to do the best he could do, and that was to give to those representatives seeking prayers for their sick, something to take back with them. And thus he gave of his own wardrobe, handkerchiefs, aprons, or parts of his garments, with the intention, that when placed upon the sick, they in Christ's name would be made well.

And the Lord working with the Apostle, honored the faith of all. The sick were made well, and those who were demon possessed, were set free, by the power of the living God.

Now may we be forever careful to point out, that the power WAS NOT, in the cloth, but in the faith of believers! The Lord honoring their faith, in Him.

Any other teaching leads one astray to the erroneous idea, of the veneration of various religious artifacts.

This terrible sin, the sin of venerating objects, instead of their living God, took place with the Jews.

II Kings 18:1-6 KJV
1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.
4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and
brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made:
for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it:
and he called it Nehushtan*.
5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
6 For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

*Nehustan-Hebrew-Nechushtan (Nekh-oosh-tawn):Some thing made of copper, i.e.the copper serpent of the Desert.

Worship of things or people other than the Lord Jesus Christ, is absolutely forbidden, by the Word of God.

Exodus 20:1-5 KJV (10 Commandments)
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

(First Commandment)
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

(Second Commandment)
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;

Leviticus 26:1 KJV
Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.

Isaiah 42:8 KJV
I am the LORD: that is My name: and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.

I John 5:21 KJV
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Never in any form, did the Apostle Paul, take any credit, or any glory for the miracles that had been done.

Apostle Paul's  sentiments.
Romans 16:27 KJV
To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

Matthew 9:37,38 KJV
37 Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.

Matthew 20:6,7 KJV
6 And about the eleventh hour He went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
7 They say unto Him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

John 4:35 KJV
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Word-Daily Reading The

Bible Questions Answered:
“...I don't have the time for Bible reading everyday, God must know how tight our schedules are with family and all!”
Warren/ Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Bible Answer:

Matthew 4:4 KJV (Temptation of Christ.)
But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

James 1:22-25 KJV
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Homily:
This is an old story handed down, but worth repeating.

An older nearsighted gentleman, who was an acclaimed art critic, prided himself of his knowledge of art.

One day the gentleman was called to the museum to lead a group of visitors through, viewing all it's art.

As the older gentleman stood before a work, he realized that he had come to the museum , but his glasses had not, nevertheless he gave the following remarks.

“The picture before you and the frame do not match at all! The poor man figure, ugly at best is not fit to be in such a beautiful frame. The subject is not in keeping with the ornate frame.”

Just then a voice in the group spoke up, it was  the gentleman's wife. “Dear,” she said, “your looking at a mirror.”

Ah, how important indeed to have perfect sight!
And you and I do not have that without the Word of God.

Psalm 119:9,11,50,105,130 KJV
9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
105 Thy word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a Light unto my path.
130 The entrance of thy words giveth Light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Jeremiah 15:16 KJV
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of Hosts.

Luke 21:33 KJV
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but My words shall not pass away.

John 14:23 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

John 15:3 KJV
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

John 17:17 KJV
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 20:30,31 KJV
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name.

Romans 1:16 KJV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 15:4 NLT
Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.

Ephesians 5:25-27 KJV
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it;
26 That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Ephesians 6:17 KJV
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Colossians 3:16 KJV
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

I Thessalonians 2:13 KJV
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

II Timothy 3:16,17 NLT
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

I John 5:13 KJV
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

When we look into the mirror of God's word, if we see things that are not right in our life...

I John 1:9 KJV
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Cross-The Offense Of

Bible Questions Answered:
“What is meant the contempt for the cross.”
Rashid/ Karachi, Pakistan

Bible Answer:

Galatians 5:11 KJV
And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offense of the cross ceased.

The Apostle Paul here was referring to the Antagonism and, contempt, by Jews and Greeks, concerning salvation by faith through Jesus Christ.

The Greeks sought out wisdom, the Jews lived by the law.

I Corinthians 1:18-24 KJV (Paul)
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Romans 3:21-31 NLT
21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.
22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.
25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when He held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,
26 for He was looking ahead and including them in what He would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate His righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and He declares sinners to be right in His sight when they believe in Jesus.
27 Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith.
28 So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.
29 After all, is God the God of the Jews only? Isn’t He also the God of the Gentiles? Of course He is.
30 There is only one God, and He makes people right with Himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.
31 Well then, if we emphasize faith, does this mean that we can forget about the law? Of course not! In fact, only when we have faith do we truly fulfill the law.

Acts 24:14 KJV
But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

II Peter 2:1,2 NLT
1  But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.
2 Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.

Titus 3:4-7 NLT
4 But—“When God our Savior revealed His kindness and love,
5 He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
7 Because of His grace He declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.”

Matthew 11:6
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in Me.

Matthew 13:18-23 KJV
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Many in our Lord's day, and yet today, are “offended by the cross.”
And because there are, they are in contempt of it, and of all, who are saved by faith through it.

The offense of the cross, is the disdain held by those who refuse to be redeemed by the Saviour, who died on it, for them.

Mark 8:34 KJV
And when He had called the people unto Him with His disciples also, He said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

The offense of the cross, our belief, sacrifice, service and, devotion, will all be held in scorn and insult, by those who refuse the Saviour.

John 15:20 KJV
Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also.

Shout-A Commanding

Bible Questions Answered:
“Just what is Jesus going to shout when he is coming for his people?”
Carol/ Toronto, Canada

Bible Answer:
Many believe that answer is found in the book of Isaiah.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18 NLT
13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died.
15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet Him ahead of those who have died.
16 For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
18 So encourage each other with these words.

And what will that shout be?

Isaiah 26:20,21 KJV
20 Come, My people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be over past.
21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Isaiah 26:20,21 NASB
20 Come, My people, enter into your rooms And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while Until indignation runs its course.
21 For behold, the LORD is about to come out from His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; And the earth will reveal her bloodshed And will no longer cover her slain.

Verse 20
“Come My People,” the people of the Lord are those who have repented of their sins and who have taken the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Acts 4:10-12 KJV
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the Stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the Head of the Corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Verse 20
“enter into your rooms And close your doors behind you;”

John 14:1-6 KJV
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto Him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

Verse 20
“hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.”
The day of Jacobs trouble, the tribulation, will start as soon as the rapture of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ has taken place.  The tribulation is a time of severe judgment. The first judgment to appear on the scene is the Ant-Christ, and his false religious leader, false prophet, who causes the world to worship the beast (Anti-Christ).

Verse 21
“ For behold, the LORD is about to come out from His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; And the earth will reveal her bloodshed And will no longer cover her slain.”

Daniel 11:36,37 NASB (Ant-Christ)
36 “Then the king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will speak [as]monstrous things against the God of gods; and he will prosper until the indignation is finished, for that which is decreed will be done.
37 He will show no regard for the [at]gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he show regard for any other god; for he will magnify himself above them all.

God's child will “not,” go through the day of Jacobs trouble!

Luke 17:26-30 KJV
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Luke 21:36 KJV
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.

I Thessalonians 1:10 KJV
And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

I Thessalonians 5:9,10 NLT
9 For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out His anger on us.
10 Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when He returns, we can live with Him forever.

Revelation 3:10 KJV
Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Will you be ready to meet the Lord of glory when He comes?

After Life-Belief By Old Testament Saints

Bible Questions Answered:
“...did people of the Old Testament days know about heaven ….”
Kevin/ Sydney, Australia

Bible Answer:

Saints of Old Testament days, had but glimpses of the eternal.
(A few references.)

Genesis 5:22-24 KJV
22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Genesis 37:34,35 KJV (Concerning Jacob and his son Joseph.)
34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

I Samuel 28:13-16 NLT
13 “Don’t be afraid!” the king told her. “What do you see?” “I see a god coming up out of the earth,” she said.
14 “What does he look like?” Saul asked. “He is an old man wrapped in a robe,” she replied. Saul realized it was Samuel, and he fell to the ground before him.
15 “Why have you disturbed me by calling me back?” Samuel asked Saul. “Because I am in deep trouble,” Saul replied. “The Philistines are at war with me, and God has left me and won’t reply by prophets or dreams. So I have called for you to tell me what to do.”
16 But Samuel replied, “Why ask me, since the Lord has left you and has become your enemy?
17 The Lord has done just as he said he would. He has torn the kingdom from you and given it to your rival, David.

II Samuel 12:23 KJV (Concerning King David and his dead child.)
But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

Nehemiah 9:6 KJV
Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

Job 19:26 KJV
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Isaiah 33:17 KJV
Thine eyes shall see the King in His beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

Daniel 7:10 KJV
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him: thousand thousands ministered unto Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

Hebrews 11:8-10 KJV
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

It was the Lord Jesus Christ who had come from heaven, who revealed it.
(A few references.)

II Timothy 1:9,10 NLT (The Apostle Paul.)
9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan from before the beginning of time—to show us His grace through Christ Jesus.
10 And now He has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.

Matthew 6:9,10,20 KJV
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Luke 10:20 KJV
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Luke 15:7 KJV
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Luke 22:29,30 KJV
29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as My Father hath appointed unto Me;
30 That ye may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

John 17:24 KJV
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which thou hast given Me: for thou lovedst Me before the foundation of the world.

Revelation 21:1-27 KJV (Christ's revelation to John.)
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Revelation 22:1-21 KJV
1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and His servants shall serve Him:
4 And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto His servants the things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.
14 Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent Mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Will you be going to heaven one day?

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit: Prison Doors Opened.

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit: Prison Doors Opened.

Bible Messenger: Earthquake.

Bible Location: Philippi.

Bible Text:
Acts 16:22-34 KJV
22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

Acts 16:22-24 KJV
22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

The Apostle Paul, had delivered a young girl from the spirit of divination, and in anger her handlers, who had made money by her predictions, got the city magistrates angered.

Paul and Silas were beaten for setting a young girl free of demon possession.
They laid “many stripes upon them.”

Early Christians, were bold in their Christian confession, even if it meant, martyrdom.

Revelation 12:11 KJV
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Have you suffered for humble, faithful Christian witnessing?
If not, why not?
Witnessing of your faith, is a command of our Lord, to every Christian.

Matthew 10:32,33 KJV
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 12:36,37 KJV
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Luke 9:26 KJV
For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when He shall come in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.

Luke 12:8,9 KJV
8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess Me before men, him shall the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God:
9 But he that denieth Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

Romans 10:9-11 KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.

Philippians 2:10,11 KJV
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I John 2:23 KJV
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

I John 4:15 KJV
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

As you read these words, do you realize that Christian brothers and sisters around the world are being tortured for their belief in the Lord Jesus Christ?

Acts 16:25 KJV
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Why did they do that? They did that because they had done it in the market place just a few hours before! That was their “custom,” to bring praise and honor to the living God.

And now their bodies bloodied from beatings, in stocks in prison, they did what they were customed to do, praise God.

When you are in beaten down, what do you do?
There is victory in praising the Lord! Is there any wonder why the evil one, makes sure in many, many churches today, there is “no-time,” for the people to stand, with lifted hands, to praise the Lord!

STOP HERE, AND READ THE POSTING:...   Worship

Acts 16:26 KJV
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

What is the extent of the Power Of The Holy Spirit?
It is without limit, it is without measurement, it is beyond human comprehension.

If only we would believe, if only we would yield, if only we would be willing to receive, the wonderful power of God the Holy Spirit, more prison doors would be opened, and more forever would be set free.

One day, and sooner than we can think, the Holy Spirits power will be noticed by all.
For the graves of righteous dead will explode open, as the rapture of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ takes place.

I Thessalonians 4:16-18 NLT
16 For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
18 So encourage each other with these words.

This could happen, before you come to the end of this writing. Are you ready to meet the Lord?

Acts 16:27 KJV
And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

Death was the penalty for prisoners escaped, and the Apostle, and the prison keeper knew it well.

Acts 16:28,29 KJV
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

Amidst all the quaking, the voice of Paul could be heard above it all, calling the jailer to do himself no harm, because they were all there. None had fled.
The worship of Paul and Silas, had changed the atmosphere in the prison house.

Acts 16:30 KJV
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, if we think for one moment, that we can effect the lives of men, without the miraculous power of God the Holy Spirit, we are at best misguided, and mistaken.

The jailer had no doubt heard some of the singing and worship of Paul and Silas, and without doubt he had seen the God of the two, loose them from their prison bonds.

The jailer, wanted to know this God for himself.

Acts 16:31,32 KJV
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

Whereas once the gospel, was denied by the jailer and his house, something on that dark night, filled with pain and suffering hallowed by worship to the living God, something happened.

And that something, was someone, God the Holy Spirit.
Oh, how, He would love to once again have His rightful place among God's brethren, but for the most part He is shut out.

And what is the result, men grouping in darkness, imprisoned with no hope of freedom.

Isaiah 42:1 KJV
1 “Look at My servant, whom I strengthen. He is My chosen one, who pleases Me. I have put My Spirit upon him....
7 You will open the eyes of the blind. You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons.

Isaiah 58:6 KJV
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that,  (The Psychologist/ Psychiatrist/and Doctor) break every yoke?

NO! "and that, "ye" break every yoke.”

Isaiah 61:1 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me; because the LORD hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (Prophetically true of our Lord, but also true of His servants.)

Mark 16:17-18 KJV (Great Commission to believers.)
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
(For the explanation of this verse see the blog....  Kept By The Power Of God  )

Matthew 10:1,8 KJV
1 And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Mark 3:14,15 KJV
14 And He ordained twelve, that they should be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach,
15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

Mark 6:7,13 KJV
7 And He called unto Him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

Luke 10:19 KJV
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Acts 16:33,34 KJV
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

If one would caption these two verses, no doubt it would be, “Christianity, brings real change in the lives of individuals!”

The Jailer, and his household, washed the wounds of Paul and Silas, and fed them. Now in their new found faith, they were baptized, and rejoiced. Did they all sing the songs that Paul and Silas hand sung just a few hours before while in prison, yes, but now with new brothers and sisters in the faith. And they did not sing alone for the very angels of heaven, in chorus to dear to be heard by mortals, shouted to the one enthroned in glory, that more dear children, had with all their hearts turned to Him.
Amen
