Hyperbole - And The Word

Bible Questions Answered:
“Why did Jesus tell people to hate their mother and fathers, so to follow him?...”
Eriko/ Caracas, Venezuela S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Luke 14:26 KJV
If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

John 12:25 KJV
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Hyperbole:
An extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”.
(Dictionary.Com)

Translation:
Matthew 10:37 KJV
He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

Hyperbole:
Example: "Its raining cats and dogs."
Translation: We've had so much rain, its a wash out.

Did our Lord use hperboles in His speech, yes. Why did He do it, He wanted to make a point, that would not be underrated , or misunderstood.

Translation:

Matthew 22:37,38 KJV
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love The Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.

Our Lord was not teaching hatred, instead, He was showing just how important it is to make The Lord, the most important of all, in our life..

Biblical Hyperboles (some - not all):

Deuteronomy 1:28 KJV
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

The Spies, Moses sent out to check out the promised land, said there were giants in the land and that the city had great walls up to heaven, an obvious hyperbole.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Job 29:6 NLT
My steps were awash in cream, and the rocks gushed olive oil for me.

Job was speaking of his great wealth, and abundance.

- – - – - – - - - -

Proverbs 13:24 NLT
Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.

Do those who spare the rod, hate their children? Certainly not, but they should have great concern if an unruly child is not corrected, for his own benefit!

- - - - - - -

Matthew 23:24 NLT
Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel!

Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees, did they actually swallow camels? No this hyperbole was meant to show that...

Matthew 23:23 KJV (The explanation)
What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

- - - - - -
Mark 9:43-48 KJV (Matthew 5:27-30)
43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Is the hand, the foot, or the eye, sinful? No, The Word tells us sin is in the heart and mind of man.
Jesus, again was using an hyperbole. (Again, Jesus used a hyperbole to raise concern over sin.)

Matthew 15:19 KJV
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Proverbs 23:26 KJV
My son, give Me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe My ways.

Romans 12:1,2 KJV
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

- – - - - - - – -
John 12:19 KJV
The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after Him.

The Pharisees, in their use of a hyperbole, said that “the world is gone after Him” meaning Jesus.
Did the Whole World follow after Jesus? No, but large crowds of Israel did.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Matthew 11:23 KJV
And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

Capernaum, never was in heaven or hell. Jesus had done many mighty miracles there and they were full of pride. The major trade routes going to the city were changed, and it became without people and turned to dust.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Mark 1:4,5 KJV
4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

Did John the Baptist, baptize everyone from Judea, and Jerusalem, no. But this hyperbole emphasizes the fact that John was very popular.
- - - - - – - --- - – – - -

John 3:26 KJV
And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, He that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to Him.

Jesus baptized no one, His disciples did, and did all men come to be baptized by them, no. It meant that many were going to Jesus, even those of John's disciples.

- - - - – --- -

These are but a few cases of the use of hyperbole's.
The only thing, our Lord taught His followers to hate, was sin.

Matthew 5:43-45 KJV
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:

Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church: Church Title: Israel Of God

Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church:

Church Title: Israel Of God

Bible Text:

Galatians 6:14-16 NLT
14 As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.
15 It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.
16 May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are
the new people of God.

Galatians 6:14-16 KJV
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon
the Israel of God.

Long ago, Jacob wrestled with The Angel Of The Lord, seeking a special blessing from Him. And
The Angel Of The Lord Told Him this....

Genesis 32:28 KJV
...Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

The people of God, would be known as Israel.

The Israelites, lived under the ten commandments, which they divide into....

Civic Law (Social Life)
Ceremonial (Mosaic) Law
Rabbinical Law (Rabbis interpretation of the ten commandments.)
Moral Laws (10 commandments.)

This translated into some 613 laws stemming from the 10 commandments.
Seventy one members of a group known as the Sanhedrin, governed these laws.

Hebrews 9:1-12 NLT (Old Rules about Worship)
1 That first covenant between God and Israel had regulations for worship and a place of worship here on earth.
2 There were two rooms in that Tabernacle. In the first room were a lamp stand, a table, and sacred loaves of bread on the table. This room was called the Holy Place.
3 Then there was a curtain, and behind the curtain was the second room called The Most Holy Place.
4 In that room were a gold incense altar and a wooden chest called The Ark Of The Covenant, which was covered with gold on all sides. Inside The Ark were a gold jar containing manna, Aaron’s staff that sprouted leaves, and the stone tablets of the covenant.
5 Above The Ark were the cherubim of divine glory, whose wings stretched out over The Ark’s cover, the place of atonement. But we cannot explain these things in detail now.
6 When these things were all in place, the priests regularly entered the first room as they performed their religious duties.
7 But only the high priest ever entered The Most Holy Place, and only once a year. And he always offered blood for his own sins and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
8 By these regulations The Holy Spirit revealed that the entrance to The Most Holy Place was not freely open as long as The Tabernacle and the system it represented were still in use.
9 This is an illustration pointing to the present time. For the gifts and sacrifices that the priests offer are not able to cleanse the consciences of the people who bring them.
10 For that old system deals only with food and drink and various cleansing ceremonies—physical regulations that were in effect only until a better system could be established.

(Christ Is the Perfect Sacrifice)
11 So Christ has now become The High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world.
12 With His Own Blood—not the blood of goats and calves—He entered The Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

II Corinthians 5:17 KJV
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

II Corinthians 5:17 NLT
"...anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

The Israel Of God today, are blood washed believers, who have forsaken the world, and who follow The Lord Jesus Christ.

II Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath Light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of The Living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith The Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be A Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith
The Lord Almighty.

Romans 5:1 KJV
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Philippians 4:7 KJV
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:26-29 KJV
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

God's family today is, neither Jew or Gentile, but His blood washed believers, who serve The Lord. Are you a part of The Israel Of God?

Are You Washed In The Blood

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r?
Are you washed in the blood of The Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of The Lamb?

Refrain:
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of The Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of The Lamb?

Are you walking daily by The Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of The Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in The Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of The Lamb?

When The Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of The Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of The Lamb?

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of The Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
Oh, be washed in the blood of The Lamb!

Revelation 7:13-15 KJV
13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in The Blood Of The Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before The Throne Of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple: and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

Savior - Mans Need Of A

Bible Questions Answered:
“When you witness if someone says I don't need the lord, what do I say then...”
Helen/ Franklin, Tennessee U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

God created this world, and us in it, and all the starry universe.

Colossians 1:15-17 NLT
15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,
16 for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him.
17 He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.

The Creator is holy.

Psalm 5:4,5 NLT
4 O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
5 Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.

Habakkuk 1:13 KJV
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity..."

Habakkuk 1:13 NLT
But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil..."

I Peter 1:16 KJV
...it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Mankind is under the curse of sin. Where is the person who would dare claim, he is holy as
The Living God, and never sinned?

II Chronicles 6:36 KJV
"...for there is no man which sinneth not..."

Psalm 14:2-4 KJV
2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?..”

Psalm 51:5 KJV (King David)
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Proverbs 20:9 KJV (Solomon)
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Isaiah 53:6 KJV
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and
The Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 64:6 KJV
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Romans 3:23 KJV
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:12 KJV
Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Galatians 3:22 KJV
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of
Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Every human being on planet earth, no matter who they may be, is under the curse of sin, and so under its judgment.

Romans 6:23 KJV
For the wages of sin is death; but The Gift Of God is eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Without The Lord Jesus, The Savior, is certain judgment.

Hebrews 9:27 KJV
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Revelation 20:11-15 KJV
11 And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is The Book Of Life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in The Book Of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Sinful humanity has a way of escape, (of judgment), an access to pardon.

John 3:16-18,36 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of The Only Begotten Son Of God.
36 He that believeth on The Son hath everlasting Life: and he that believeth not
The Son shall not see Life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

II Corinthians 5:21 KJV
For He (God The Father) hath made Him (Jesus Christ, His Son) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

The Lord Jesus, God's Son, took upon Himself our death sentence for sin. When we accept Him, we receive forgiveness of sin and receive eternal Life through His name.

Hebrews 2:3 KJV
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation..."

II Corinthians 6:2 KJV
(For He saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured (helped) thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Hebrews 3:15 KJV
While it is said, Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts..."

Acts 2:21 KJV
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of The Lord shall be saved.

Christina/ Calgary, Alberta  Canada

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

The third member of The Trinity, God The Holy Spirit, as a person, is shown to have the following characteristics.

John 6:63 NKJV (The Holy Spirit, Life giving.)
It is The Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit, and they are Life.

John 14:26 KJV (The Holy Spirit, teaches us.)
But The Comforter, which is The Holy Ghost, whom The Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26 NLT (The Holy Spirit, testifies of The Truth.)

14 He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of Mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Acts 5:3 KJV (The Holy spirit, may be lied to.)

The Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching The Word in the province of Asia at that time.

8 So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas.

The Holy Spirit.

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot The Son Of God, and hath counted The Blood Of The Covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite (Insult) unto
The Spirit Of Grace?

I Peter 1:2 NKJV (The Holy Spirit, changes us into the image of Jesus Christ.)
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God The Father, in sanctification (growing in grace) of The Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of The Blood Of Jesus Christ:

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized (Make public confession of your faith.) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive
The Gift Of The Holy Ghost.

Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church Church Title: Household Of God

Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church

Church Title: Household Of God

Bible Text:

Ephesians 2:19 KJV
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of
The Household* Of God;

Household: Oikeios (Oy-ki-os): A relative, adherent: those of (his own) house (hold).

Household:
The people of a house collectively;
Of or relating to a household:
Dictionary.Com

Dear Christian, brother and sister, we are apart of something great, we are members of
The House Hold Of God.

Galatians 3:28 KJV
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

From Adam to Christ, mankind was divided into two groups, the Jews, and the Gentiles. The Jews lived under Covenants of The Lord, being called the people of God.

Exodus 33:15-17 NLT
15 Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.
16 How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.”
17 The Lord replied to Moses, “I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.”

Leviticus 20:26 NLT
You must be holy because I, The Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be My very own.

And the Gentiles:

Ephesians 2:11,12 NLT
11 Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts.
12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them...”

Romans 1:19,20 NLT
19 They know The Truth about God because He has made it obvious to them.
20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

The Cross of Jesus Christ has changed everything.

Mark 15:38 KJV
And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

That which separated God and men was done away with, not by the works of men, “rent in twain from the top to the bottom,” clearly showing, it an act of God.

Gods access was no longer by earthly priests, and Gods access was now both to the Jews and Gentiles.
Now there was a new group on the scene. Once there were the Jews and the Gentiles, and now there is the building of God, called The Church Of Jesus Christ, the very Household Of God.

I Corinthians 10:32 KJV
Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to The Church Of God:

Ephesians 2:13-22 NLT
13 But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to Him through The Blood Of Christ (A new covenant for Jew and Gentile).
14 For Christ Himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when,
in His own body on the cross, He broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.
15 He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in Himself one new people from the two groups.
16 Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of His death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.
17 He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from Him, and peace to the Jews who were near.
18 Now all of us can come to The Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

(A Temple for The Lord)
19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.
20 Together, we are His house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And
The Cornerstone is Christ Jesus Himself.
21 We are carefully joined together in Him, becoming a holy temple for The Lord.
22 Through Him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by His Spirit.

(Remember: The Corner Stone and the foundation are one, and may "not," be divorced, the one from the other. The Corner Stone, is a main part of the foundation.)

As a Christian, whether Jew or Gentile, we are apart of The Household Of God

Romans 10:11-13 KJV
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of The Lord shall be saved.

When a person does this he may call The Father....

Romans 8:15 KJV
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received
The Spirit Of Adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Galatians 4:6 KJV
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth The Spirit Of His Son into your hearts, crying,
Abba, Father.

Bless This House

Bless this house, O Lord we pray,
Make it safe by night and day . . .
Bless these walls so firm and stout,
Keeping want and trouble out . . .

Bless the roof and chimneys tall,
Let thy peace lie overall . . .
Bless this door that it may prove,
Ever open,To joy and love . . .

Bless these windows shining bright,
Letting in God's Heavenly light,
Bless the hearth, ablazing there,
With smoke ascending like a prayer!

Bless the people here within,
Keep them pure and free from sin . . .
Bless us all that we may be,
Fit O Lord to dwell with thee . . .
Bless us all that one day we may dwell,
O Lord! With Thee!

Salvation - Automatic?

Bible Questions Answered:
“I don't understand, I believe yes but other family members do not. I am saved are not they saved also?...”
Rodrigo/ Mexicali, Baja California Mexico

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

You are in misunderstanding of Acts 16:31, as many before you and as will be many after you.

The Story: The Philippian Jailer Converted, And His House.

Acts 16:16-34 KJV (Paul and Silas thrown into prison.)
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of
The Most High God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,
21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.
22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on The Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Acts 16:31 AMP
And they answered, “Believe in The Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe].”

Adam Clarke's Commentary
Believe on the Lord Jesus" - Receive the religion of Christ, which we preach, and let thy household also receive it, and ye shall be all placed in the sure way to final salvation.

Continued:
32 And they spake unto him the word of The Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

One may easily see the proper rendering of verse 31, by the Amplified Bible and Adam Clarke's commentary, the proper interpretation of Acts 16:31.

Acts 16:31 AMP
And they answered, “Believe in The Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe].”

Acts 16:32-34 KJV The Philippian Jailer And His Family.

There were no babies or small children in the jailer's house. How do we know that, we know that because...

Verse 32 Paul preached to them all (they all heard and understood, what he taught them.)
Verse 34 And all of his house believed.
Verse 33 Because they all heard and believed Paul's teaching, they were all baptized.
Verse 34 After they all turned to The Lord, and were baptized, and they all rejoiced in The Lord!

What does The Word say regarding Salvation?

Salvation: Belief, Repentance, Confession:

Proverbs 28:13 KJV
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Matthew 4:17 KJV
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 9:13 KJV
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Mark 1:14,15 KJV
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Mark 6:10-12 KJV (Jesus)
10 And He said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

Luke 13:3 KJV (Jesus)
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

I John 1:9 KJV
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

“Pastor are there any exceptions to this rule?”

Yes, babies and small children are under the age of accountability, if they were to die, they would be redeemed, because of their innocence before The Lord.

King David said of his “unbaptized new born, that died.”

II Samuel 12:23 KJV
But now he (David's newborn) is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

For all others, salvation is not an auto-matic event, for there must be Belief, Repentance, and Confession.

How wonderful the Philippian Jailer and all his family, received and rejoiced in The Lord!
If our family does not believe, it is our duty to pray for them as Christians, and to witness to them, and that is a twofold mission. Witnessing by The Word, if they will receive it, and or by The Fruits Of The Spirit.

II Timothy 4:2 KJV
Preach The Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

Galatians 5:22,23 KJV
22 But The Fruit Of The Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Ephesians 5:9 KJV
For The Fruit Of The Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;

Ephesians 6:18 KJV
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in The Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Presence Of Evil - What To Do In The

Bible Questions Answered:
“My question is what do we do when you can feel there is evil near by?...”
Amy/ Detroit, Michigan U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

It may be on the street, among friends, or even in church, when your spirit senses that something is wrong, something evil is present.

An evil presence came before The Lord Jesus, it was Lucifer. Three times he tried to tempt our Lord, and three time He replied by saying, “It Is Written.” rebuking the evil one, with The Word Of God.

Matthew 4:1-4 KJV
1 Then was Jesus led up of The Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If thou be The Son Of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh Him up into the holy city, and setteth Him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto Him, If thou be The Son Of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give His angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt The Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto Him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship The Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth Him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Him.

Memorize The Word Of God, And Use It.

James 4:7 KJV
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

I Peter 1:18,19 KJV
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with The Precious Blood Of Christ, as of
A Lamb Without Blemish And Without Spot:

I John 1:7 KJV
But if we walk in The Light, as he is in The Light, we have fellowship one with another, and
The Blood Of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

I John 4:4 KJV
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Revelation 12:11 NLT
And they have defeated him by The Blood Of The Lamb and by their testimony..."

Christians Must Be Equipped For Battle:

Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV (The sixfold armor and weapon of God's child.)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in The Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with Truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The More United You Are In Prayer And Praise To The Lord, The More Presence And Power Of God, There Will Be.

Matthew 18:20 KJV
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.

Psalm 22:3 KJV
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Know And Sing The Great Songs Of The Church That Speak Of The Blood Of Christ.

Hymns About The Blood Of Christ:

At the Cross

At Calvary

Are You Washed in the Blood?

Jesus Paid It All

Lead Me to Calvary

Near the Cross

Nothing But the Blood

There Is a Fountain

There Is Power In the Blood.

The Blood will Never Loose Its Power.

Nothing but The Blood.

(And many others)

Homily:

More than one story has been told, on just how effective reading, and singing about
The Blood Of Christ is.
On a warm summer morning, church service, a pact of gang members walked into a church and sat down. They had come to see how much trouble they could cause, but a prepared choir director got up and ask the congregation to stand and sing “There is power in the blood.” And one by one, the gang filed out, and that is because, dear friend, there is power in the blood of Jesus Christ.

THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD

Would you be free from your burden of sin?
There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood
Would you o'er evil the victory win?
There's wonderful pow'r in the blood

Chorus:
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the blood of the Lamb
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the precious blood of the Lamb

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.

Would you be white, much whiter than snow?
There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow;
There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's pow'r in the blood, there's pow'r in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.
