Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church:
Church Title: Holy City
Bible Text:
Revelation 21:1-7 KJV
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new
earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and
there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw The Holy City,
new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a
bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of
heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will
dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall
be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears
from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow,
nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former
things are passed away.
5 And He that sat upon the throne
said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for
these words are true and faithful.
6 And He said unto me, It is done. I
am Alpha And Omega, The Beginning And The End. I will give unto him
that is athirst of the fountain of The Water Of Life freely.
7 He that over cometh shall inherit
all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.
The Holy City,
coming down from heaven above, from God, as a bride (The church),
dressed in grace, mercy and fine linen.
Revelation
19:7-9 KJV
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and
give honor to him: for the marriage of The Lamb is come, and His wife
hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she
should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen
is the righteousness of saints.
9 And he saith unto me, Write,
Blessed are they which are called unto
the marriage supper of The Lamb. And
he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Revelation 21:3
KJV
And I heard a great voice out of
heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will
dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall
be with them, and be their God.
I Corinthians
2:9 KJV
But as it is written, Eye hath not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the
things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.
Holy
City:
Psalm 46:4,5 KJV
4 There is a river, the streams
whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the
tabernacles of The Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she
shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
Psalm 48:1-3,8
KJV
1 Great is The Lord, and greatly to
be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His
holiness.
2 Beautiful for situation, the joy
of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
the city of The Great King.
3 God is known in her palaces for a
refuge.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of The Lord Of Hosts, in the city of our God:
God will establish it for ever. Selah.
Psalm 87:3 KJV
Glorious things are spoken of thee,
O city of God. Selah.
Psalm 83:4,7,36
KJV
4 They wandered in the wilderness in
a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
7 And He led them forth by the right
way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
36 And there He maketh the hungry to
dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
Isaiah 26:1 KJV
In that day shall this song be sung
in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will
God appoint for walls and bulwarks.
Ezekiel 40:2 NLT
In a vision from God he took me to
the land of Israel and set me down on a very high mountain. From
there I could see toward the south what appeared to be a city.
Hebrews 11:10,16
KJV
10 For he looked for a city which
hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
16 But now they desire a better
country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be
called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city.
Hebrews 12:22-24
KJV
22 But ye are
come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of The Living God, the
heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the
general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in
heaven, and to
God The Judge Of All, and to the spirits of just men
made perfect,
24 And to Jesus
The Mediator Of The New Covenant, and to The Blood Of Sprinkling,
that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
Hebrews 13:14
KJV
For here have we no continuing city,
but we seek one to come.
Revelation
21:9-14 KJV
9 And there came unto me one of the
seven angels...and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew
thee the bride, The Lamb's wife.
10 And he carried me away in The
spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that
great city,
the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her
Light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone,
clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high,
and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names
written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the
children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the
north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three
gates.
14 And the wall of the city had
twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of
The Lamb.
The Holy City and
it's description: Revelation 21-22.
Who may go to this
beautiful city of The Lord?
II Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is...long suffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all
should come to repentance.
Acts 2:21 KJV
And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of The Lord shall be saved.
Revelation 3:20
KJV
Behold, I stand at the door, and
knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to
him..."
To receive The Lord
as your Savior, and Lord, means that you will have your name written
in
The Lambs Book Of
Life, and that you will have a home in God's holy city.
John 14:1-6 KJV
(Jesus)
1 Let not your
heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father's
house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go
ye know, and The Way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto
him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know
The Way?
6 Jesus saith unto
him, I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life: no man cometh unto
The Father, but by
Me.
The
Holy City
Last
night I lay a sleeping,
There came a dream so fair,
I stood in
old Jerusalem
Beside the temple there.
I heard the children
singing,
And ever as they sang,
Methought the voice of
angels
From Heav’n in answer rang;
Methought the voice of
angels
From Heav’n in answer rang:—
“Jerusalem!
Jerusalem!
Lift up your gates and sing,
Hosanna in the
highest
Hosanna to your King!”
And
then methought my dream was chang’d,
The streets no longer
rang,
Hush’d were the glad hosannas
The little children
sang.
The sun grew dark with mystery,
The morn was cold and
chill,
As the shadow of a cross arose
Upon a lonely hill,
As
the shadow of a cross arose
Upon a lonely hill.
“Jerusalem!
Jerusalem!
Hark! how the angels sing,
Hosanna in the
highest,
Hosanna to your King.”
And
once again the scene was chang’d,
New earth there seem’d to
be,
I saw the Holy City
Beside the tideless sea;
The light
of God was on its streets,
The gates were open wide,
And all
who would might enter,
And no one was denied.
No need of moon
or stars by night,
Or sun to shine by day,
It was the new
Jerusalem,
That would not pass away,
It was the new
Jerusalem,
That would not pass away.
“Jerusalem!
Jerusalem!
Sing, for the night is o’er!
Hosanna in the
highest,
Hosanna for evermore!
Hosanna in the highest,
Hosanna
for evermore!”
