Bible Lesson: Intercessory Prayer: Abraham Intercedes For The Righteous Of Sodom And Gomorrah.

Bible Lesson: Intercessory Prayer: Abraham Intercedes For The Righteous Of Sodom And Gomorrah.

Bible Text:

Genesis 18:20-32 KJV
20 And The Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto Me; and if not, I will know.
22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before The Lord.
23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
26 And The Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto The Lord, which am but dust and ashes:
28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And He said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.
29 And he spake unto Him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And He said, I will not do it for forty's sake.
30 And he said unto Him, Oh let not The Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And He said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.
31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto The Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And He said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake.
32 And he said, Oh let not The Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And He said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.
33 And The Lord went His way, as soon as He had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

The Angel Of The Lord (Theophany of The Lord Jesus Christ.), and two angels, appeared to Abraham on afternoon ( Genesis 18:1,2). The Lord had come to reassure Abraham, that indeed he would be the father of many nations, through his wife Sarah, and that He had come to judge Sodom and Gomorrah.

Theophany: a manifestation of God.
New World Dictionary

Theophany: A manifestation or appearance of God.

Because he had allowed his young nephew, Lot, to live at Sodom and Gomorrah, he felt more than compelled to intercede for him.

Abraham asked The Lord, what if there only be 50, 45, 30, 20, 10 righteous individuals living in the city, would you destroy it then? And The Lord replied...
Genesis 18:32 KJV

...I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

Lot, his wife and two married daughters lived with in the city of Sodom.

The men of Sodom, were homosexuals, with uncontrollable sinful appetites (Sodomites, Sodomy).

Genesis 19:1-11 KJV
1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know* them.

*Know-Hebrew: Yada (Yaw-dah): (Law of first reference: Genesis 4:17 KJV “And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch...” “to know,” one sexually.)

6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Everything The Lord had heard about Sodom and Gomorrah was true.
Would Abraham's interceding save his nephew and his family?
Yes!

Though judgment was to fall on Sodom and Gomorrah, yet Lot and his family would be saved!

Genesis 19:12-17 KJV
12 And the men (Mighty Angels of God.) said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of The Lord; and The Lord hath sent us to destroy it.
14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for The Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16 And while he lingered, the men (Angels) laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; The Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Genesis 19:22-25 KJV
22 (The Mighty Angels warned Lot.) Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither...
23 The sun was risen upon the earth....
24 Then The Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from The Lord out of heaven;
25 And He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

(Not the subject here, but let us not forget our Lord's promise to keep and protect the church!)

Revelation 3:10 KJV
Because thou hast kept The Word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Revelation 3:10 NLT
Because you have obeyed My command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world.

The Lord, heard Abraham's request, his nephew, wife and two daughters were taken out of the city.

Unspotted

Bible Questions Answered:
“...it's impossible to be perfect in this world...”
Helen/ Schorndorf, Germany Baden Wurttemberg

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:

James 1:27 KJV
Pure religion and undefiled before God and The Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Our God, never calls us to do anything that we, are not capable of doing. We can live holy lives with His help!

Genesis 17:1,2 NLT (When The Lord appeared before Abram at 99 years of age and said...)
1 "...“I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve Me faithfully and live a blameless life.
2 I will make a covenant with you..."

Psalm 11:7 KJV
For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; His countenance doth behold the upright.

Luke 1:74,45 KJV
74 That He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life.

II Corinthians 7:1 KJV
Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.

I Thessalonians 5:22 KJV
Abstain from all appearance of evil.

II Timothy 1:9 NLT
For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan from before the beginning of time—to show us His grace through Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 12:14 KJV
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see The Lord:

I Peter 1:16 KJV
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

II Peter 3:11 KJV
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and Godliness,

I John 2:29 KJV
If ye know that He is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of Him.

In the temptations of life, our God is with us!

I Corinthians 10:13 NLT
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is Faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.

I Corinthians 10:13 MSG
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.

Elijah the mighty prophet of God, at a woman's rebuke (Jezebel), ran for his life, and hid in a cave.
Thinking to himself that he was the only one yet serving God, and that soon he would be the last.

I King 19:1,2 NLT
1 When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal.
2 So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.”

The Lord saw Elijah hiding in the cave and gave him this message...

I Kings 19:18 KJV
"...I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

No, the prophet was not “alone,” in serving God, there were thousands upon thousands of faithful others!

II Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath Light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of The Living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith The Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith The Lord Almighty.

When we are become weak in our spiritual race, Isaiah tells us...

Isaiah 40:28-31 KJV
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that The Everlasting God, The Lord, The Creator Of The Ends Of The Earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of His understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon The Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Romans 12:1,2 NLT
1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world,
but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Bible Lesson: Intercessory Prayer: Abraham Intercedes For Ishmael.

Bible Lesson: Intercessory Prayer: Abraham Intercedes For Ishmael.

Bible Text:

Genesis 17:18-20 NLT
18 So Abraham said to God, “May Ishmael live under your special blessing!”
19 But God replied, “No—Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm My covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant.
20 As for Ishmael, I will bless him also, just as you have asked. I will make him extremely fruitful and multiply his descendants. He will become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

Intercede: To plead or make a request in behalf of another or others.
Intercessor: A person who intercedes.
Intercession: Pleading, or prayer in behalf of another or others.

Should it come as a surprise to you, better late than never, there are others that need – your prayers!
If a new idea for you, and for many shamefully so, read it again.

The Lord spoke to Abram and said...

Genesis 15:4,5 NLT
4 “...“No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir.”
5 Then The Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”

Genesis 16:1-15 NLT (The Birth of Ishmael)
1 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had not been able to bear children for him. But she had an Egyptian servant named Hagar.
2 So Sarai said to Abram, “The Lord has prevented me from having children. Go and sleep with my servant. Perhaps I can have children through her.” And Abram agreed with Sarai’s proposal.
3 So Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian servant and gave her to Abram as a wife. (This happened ten years after Abram had settled in the land of Canaan.)
4 So Abram had sexual relations with Hagar, and she became pregnant. But when Hagar knew she was pregnant, she began to treat her mistress, Sarai, with contempt.
5 Then Sarai said to Abram, “This is all your fault! I put my servant into your arms, but now that she’s pregnant she treats me with contempt. The Lord will show who’s wrong—you or me!”
6 Abram replied, “Look, she is your servant, so deal with her as you see fit.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she finally ran away.
7 The Angel Of The Lord found Hagar beside a spring of water in the wilderness, along the road to Shur. 8 The Angel said to her, “Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
I’m running away from my mistress, Sarai,” she replied.
9 The Angel Of The Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit to her authority.”
10 Then He added, “I will give you more descendants than you can count.”
11 And The Angel also said, “You are now pregnant and will give birth to a son. You are to name him Ishmael (which means ‘God hears’), for The Lord has heard your cry of distress.
12 This son of yours will be a wild man, as untamed as a wild donkey! He will raise his fist against everyone, and everyone will be against him. Yes, he will live in open hostility against all his relatives.”
13 Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to The Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are The God Who sees Me.” She also said, “Have I truly seen The One who sees me?”
14 So that well was named Beer-lahai-roi (which means “well of The Living One who sees me”). It can still be found between Kadesh and Bered.
15 So Hagar gave Abram a son, and Abram named him Ishmael.
16 Abram was eighty-six years old when Ishmael was born.

Genesis 17:1-8;15-22 NLT
1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, The Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve Me faithfully and live a blameless life.
2 I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.”
3 At this, Abram fell face down on the ground. Then God said to him,
4 “This is My covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations!
5 What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations.
6 I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them!
7 “I will confirm My covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. 8 And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God.”

15 Then God said to Abraham, “Regarding Sarai, your wife—her name will no longer be Sarai. From now on her name will be Sarah.
16 And I will bless her and give you a son from her! Yes, I will bless her richly, and she will become the mother of many nations. Kings of nations will be among her descendants.”
17 Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. “How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought. “And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?”
21 But My covenant will be confirmed with Isaac, who will be born to you and Sarah about this time next year.”
22 When God had finished speaking, he left Abraham.

Does God Keep His Promises?

Genesis 21:1-7,12,13,18,20,21 NLT
1 The Lord kept His word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised.
2 She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would.
3 And Abraham named their son Isaac.
4 Eight days after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded.
5 Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born.
6 And Sarah declared, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me.
7 Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby? Yet I have given Abraham a son in his old age!”

12.. Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.
13 But I will also make a nation of the descendants of Hagar’s son because he is your son, too.”

18... (Promise from The Angel Of The Lord) I will make a great nation from his (Ishmaels) descendants.”
20 And God was with the boy as he grew up in the wilderness. He became a skillful archer,
21 and he settled in the wilderness of Paran. His mother arranged for him to marry a woman from the land of Egypt.

Dear Christian friend, it “is,” God's will that you,...intercede for others!
Who?

All men, kings and all those in authority:
I Timothy 2:1,2 KJV
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority;

Christian workers:

For I know that as you pray for me and The Spirit Of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.

Jerusalem
Psalm 122:6 KJV
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Our friends
Job 42:8 NLT
So take seven bulls and seven rams and go to My servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer on your behalf. I will not treat you as you deserve, for you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”

The people of our country.
Romans 10:1 NLT
Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved.

The sick
James 5:14 KJV
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of The Lord:

Our enemies

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Those who forsake us

The first time I was brought before the judge, no one came with me. Everyone abandoned me. May it not be counted against them.

Friend, keep praying! (See the book “Unlocking The Mysteries Of Prayer-(above page)
Prayer is much, much more than what we realize. Whether you feel like it or not, pray, pray for yourself, and be sure to pray for others, because they need your prayers!

I Samuel 12:23 KJV
Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against The Lord in ceasing to pray for you..."

Ephesians 6:16-18 NLT
16 "...hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take The Sword Of The Spirit, which is The Word Of God.
18 Pray in The Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

One has only to read the story of the Samaritan woman at the well in John chapter 4, to realize our Lord's love is without partiality.

John 4:1-42 NLT
1 Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that He was baptizing and making more disciples than John
2 (though Jesus Himself didn’t baptize them—His disciples did).
3 So He left Judea and returned to Galilee.
4 He had to go through Samaria on the way.
5 Eventually He came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.
7 Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give Me a drink.”
8 He was alone at the time because His disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.
9 The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”
10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew The Gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask Me, and I would give you living water.”
11 “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water?
12 And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?”
13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.
14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
15 “Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.”
16 “Go and get your husband,” Jesus told her.
17 “I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said, “You’re right! You don’t have a husband— 18 for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly spoke The Truth!”
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet.
20 So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?”
21 Jesus replied, “Believe Me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship The Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.
22 You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about Him, for salvation comes through the Jews.
23 But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship The Father in Spirit and in Truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way.
24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in Truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know The Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus told her, “I am The Messiah!”
27 Just then His disciples came back. They were shocked to find Him talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask, “What do you want with her?” or “Why are you talking to her?”
28 The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone,
29 “Come and see A Man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be The Messiah?”
30 So the people came streaming from the village to see Him.
31 Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus, “Rabbi, eat something.”
32 But Jesus replied, “I have a kind of food you know nothing about.”
33 “Did someone bring Him food while we were gone?” the disciples asked each other.
34 Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent Me, and from finishing His work.
35 You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.
36 The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!
37 You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true.
38 I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.”

Jesus had a choice, He was leaving Jerusalem on His way up to Galilee, would He travel straight north through Samaria, or travel the route used by all Jews, by way of the Jordan Valley, thus avoiding any nearness to Samaria?

He chose to travel north, and He had a reason, led by The Spirit, He would go the distance to a woman and the members of her city, who need to hear about “The Gift Of God.”

Why did the Jews despise the Samaritans?
When the northern ten tribes of Israel were taken away by the Assyrians, a few remained behind, the emptiness was soon filled with heathen from all of Mesopotamia, and so a once pure nation, became a mixed breed.

God was worshiped and with Him, heathen gods as well. Later returning Samaritans tried to rejoin them unsuccessfully. On mount Gerizim, they built a temple. Their religion became a mixture of paganism and Judaism. The Jews of Jerusalem, despised them because they were anything but a pure people, concerning race or religion.

To this little sleepy town of Sychar, came Jesus and His band of men, and if Jesus had been one to discriminate, He certainly never would have traveled this way, but our God, is a God of impartiality and love!

Deuteronomy 10:17 NLT
For The Lord your God is The God of gods and Lord of lords. He is The Great God, The Mighty And Awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed.

II Chronicles 19:7 NLT
Fear The Lord and judge with integrity, for The Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes.”

Job 34:18,19 NLT
18 For He says to kings, ‘You are wicked,’ and to nobles, ‘You are unjust.’
19 He doesn’t care how great a person may be, and He pays no more attention to the rich than to the poor. He made them all.

Matthew 5:43-45 NLT
43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy.
44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For He gives His sunlight to both the evil and the good, and He sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

Acts 10:34,35 KJV
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him.

Romans 10:12 KJV
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.

Galatians 2:6 NLT
"...God has no favorites.

Ephesians 6:9 NLT (No, Paul was not endorcing slavery!)
Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them; remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and He has no favorites.

I Peter 1:17 NLT
And remember that The Heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do.

So what was the result of our Lord's great heart of love?

39 Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, “He told me everything I ever did!”
40 When they came out to see Him, they begged Him to stay in their village. So He stayed for two days,
41 long enough for many more to hear His message and believe.
42 Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard Him ourselves. Now we know that He is indeed The Savior Of The World.”

In the heart of a true Christian, there is “no,” room for discrimination in any form, our Lord believed and lived that Himself, and aren't we all glad that He did!

Romans 6:23 KJV
For the wages of sin is death; but The Gift Of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

John 3:16,17 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

Holy Spirit - The - Within

Bible Questions Answered:
“What do we pray to get holy spirit within...?...”
Shirley/ Taganrog, Rostov Oblast Russia

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:

The Lord promised His people...

Ezekiel 36:27 KJV (The Lord)
And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them.

Matthew 3:11 KJV (John the baptist.)
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with The Holy Ghost, and with fire:

John 7:37-39 NLT
37 On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me!
38 Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
39 (When He said “living water,” He was speaking of The Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in Him. But The Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into His glory.)

John 14:16,17 KJV (Jesus)
16 And I will pray The Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide* with you for ever;
17 Even The Spirit Of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth* with you, and shall be in you.

*Abide-Greek: Meno (Men-o): To stay, in a given place; abide, continue to dwell, remain.

*Dwelleth-Greek: Same as above.

John 15:26 KJV (Jesus)
But when The Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from The Father, even The Spirit Of Truth, which proceedeth from The Father, He shall testify of Me:

I Corinthians 2:12 NLT
And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

I Corinthians 6:19 NLT
"...your body is the temple of The Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God..."

I John 3:24 NLT
Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with Him, and He with them. And we know He lives in us because The Spirit He gave us lives in us.

The Apostle Paul tells us, when a person becomes a Christian, they are baptized in The Spirit (i.e. Have The Holy Spirit within).

I Corinthians 12:13 KJV
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

I Corinthians 12:13 NLT
Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.

I Corinthians 12:13 ESV
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

I Corinthians 12:13 YLT
For also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized, whether Jews or Greeks, whether servants or freemen, and all into one Spirit were made to drink,

So, we “do not,” need to pray for The Holy Spirit, to live within us, at conversion, He entered our lives, and comforts us with the very presence and power of God.

Is it important to have God The Holy Spirit, living within?

Romans 8:9 KJV
But ye are not in the flesh, but in The Spirit, if so be that The Spirit Of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not The Spirit Of Christ, he is none of His.

Bible Lesson: Answered Prayer: Cornelius Prayed For God's Favor And Enlightenment.

Bible Lesson: Answered Prayer: Cornelius Prayed For God's Favor And Enlightenment.

Subject Of Prayer: Cornelius Prayed For God's Blessings.

Bible Text:

Acts 10:1-8 KJV
1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:
6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

Captain Cornelius was a Roman Army Officer, who with his men were stationed at Caesarea.
Cornelius, a gentile was a Godly man, who enjoyed giving to the poor. Now though Cornelius was a Godly man, who associated with Godly Jews, he knew nothing of The Lord Jesus Christ, The Savior.

I Samuel 16:7 KJV
"...The Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but The Lord looketh on the heart.

I Chronicles 29:17 KJV
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart..."

Psalm 44:21 KJV
Shall not God search this out? for He knoweth the secrets of the heart.

Jeremiah 11:20 KJV
"...O Lord Of Hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart..."

Jeremiah 17:10 NLT
But I, The Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

Jeremiah 20:12 NLT
O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, you test those who are righteous, and you examine the deepest thoughts and secrets..."

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
For The Word Of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God knowing the innocent heart of Cornelius, sent him an angel telling him to send for Simon Peter of Joppa, and “he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. vs 6).

Peter having received a vision of The Lord (Be sure to read Acts 10.), exclaimed "...God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean." verse 28.

Peter traveled from coastal Caesarea to Joppa (30 miles to the south) and preached Christ:

Acts 10:38-43 KJV
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with The Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed Him openly;
41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with Him after He rose from the dead.
42 And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He which was ordained of God to be The Judge Of Quick And Dead.
43 To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.

Cornelius was thought to be the first, Gentile to become a born again Christian. He and his family and friends, were filled with The Holy Spirit, and Baptized.

God had heard Corneilus' prayer!

Dear friend, God sees and knows your heart! Call out to Him, it is His desire to answer you and show you His great salvation.
