Bible Lesson: Prophecies Made By The Lord Jesus: A Second Draught Of Fishes.
Bible Lesson: Prophecies Made By The
Lord Jesus: A Second Draught Of Fishes.
Bible Text: The Prophecy.
John 21:1-6 KJV
1 After these things Jesus shewed
Himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this
wise shewed He Himself.
2 There were together Simon Peter, and
Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons
of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a
fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth,
and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught
nothing.
4 But when the morning was now come,
Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was
Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children,
have ye any meat? They answered Him, No.
6 And He said unto them, Cast the net
on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find..."
Bible Text: The Fulfillment:
John 21:6 KJV
"... They cast therefore, and
now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
Jesus had instructed His disciples
that He would see them, after His resurrection, at a certain place in
Galilee.
Matthew 26;32 KJV
But after I am risen again, I will
go before you into Galilee.
Matthew 28:7 KJV
And go quickly, and tell His
disciples that He is risen from the dead; and, behold, He goeth
before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him: lo, I have told you.
Mark 16:7 KJV
But go your way, tell His disciples
and Peter that He goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see
Him, as He said unto you.
And so gathered, Simon Peter, Thomas
Didymus, Nathanael of Cana, James and John (the sons of Zebedee), and
two other disciples (not named).
Standing on the shore of Galilee,
seeing the fishing boats casting their nets...
John 21:3 KJV
Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a
fishing. They say unto Him, We also go with thee. They went forth,
and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught
nothing.
Friend, where does
life find you today, joyless, powerless, victory-less?
And many, are
living in this place today, so don't think you are some kind of
special exception to success.
What's the answer,
even the disciples where in utter defeat.
The answer is found
in the words of our Lord....
John 15:5 KJV
I am The Vine, ye are the branches:
He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much
fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.
Wanting to be
successful, we rush off here and there, put all our best efforts into
what we do, and then sadly realize that all is to no avail, we are
sinking in failure and loss.
What has happened,
good intentioned or not, we have gone on – without The Lord!
When He plainly
told us “ for without Me ye can do nothing.”
How broken up,
these professional fishermen were, this was their field of
expertise, and shamefully, their nets, were empty.
Romans 8:5-8 KJV
5 For they that
are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that
are after The Spirit the things of The Spirit.
6 For to be
carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and
peace.
7 Because the
carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law
of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they
that are in the flesh cannot please God.
John 21:4,5 KJV
4 But when the morning was now come,
Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was
Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them,
Children, have ye any meat? They answered Him, No.
Just as He had
promised, Jesus met His disciples, “but the disciples knew not
that it was Jesus.”
No, they replied to
The Man, their nets were wet, but empty.
John 21:6-14 KJV
6 And He said unto them, Cast the
net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast
therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of
fishes.
7 Therefore that disciple (John)
whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is The Lord. Now when Simon
Peter heard that it was The Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him,
(for he was naked, only a loin
cloth) and did cast himself into the sea.
8 And the other disciples came in a
little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two
hundred cubits - one hundred
yards,) dragging the net with fishes.
9 As soon then as they were come to
land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and
bread.
10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of
the fish which ye have now caught.
11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the
net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and
for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and
dine. And none of the disciples durst ask Him, Who art thou? knowing
that it was The Lord.
13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh
bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
14 This is now the third time that
Jesus shewed Himself to His disciples, after that He was risen from
the dead.
After the
disciples, fished The Lord's way, 7 strong men, could not lift the
nets full of fish.
And yet, as this
was true, when The Lord ask for some of their fish, we read....
John 21:10,11
KJV
10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of
the fish which ye have now caught.
11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the
net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three...”
Seven men, could
not lift the net, but now Peter with super human strength, dragged
the net to shore, because his Master has asked for more fish.
Yes of course there
is a lesson here. When we are God's children, led by The Lord, things
thought impossible, will be possible, if we desire to do it for The
Lord!
The Apostle Paul in
Hebrews 11, mentions some of the individuals, who through strong
faith, seemingly did the impossible.
Matthew 19:26
KJV
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto
them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are
possible.
Mark 9:23 KJV
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst
believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Mark 10:27 KJV
And Jesus looking upon them saith,
With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things
are possible.
Luke 18:27 KJV
And He said, The things which are
impossible with men are possible with God.
Hebrews 13:8 KJV
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and
to day, and for ever.
Can we be someone
guided and blessed, as were our Lord's disciples? Yes!
Our God does not
change, nor His wonderful blessings. When we put our Lord, first,
seeking His guidance, we will know of His provision and blessing, not
just for meat and bread, but for the souls of countless individuals
adrift the dark churning tides of sin and darkness, who are lost.
Matthew 4:19 KJV
"...Follow Me, and I will make
you fishers of men.
