Bible Lesson: Prophecies Made By The Lord Jesus: Betrayer And His Judgment.
Bible Lesson: Prophecies Made By The
Lord Jesus: Betrayer And His
Judgment.
Bible Text: The Prophecy:
Matthew 26:24
KJV
The Son Of Man
goeth as it is written of Him: but woe unto that man by whom
The Son Of Man
is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
Mark 14:21 KJV
The Son Of Man
indeed goeth, as it is written of Him: but woe to that man by whom
The Son Of Man
is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
Luke 22:22 KJV
And truly The
Son Of Man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom
He is betrayed!
Bible Text: The Fulfillment:
Matthew 27:3-5 KJV
3 Then Judas,
which had betrayed Him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented*
himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief
priests and elders,
4 Saying, I
have sinned in that I have betrayed the Innocent Blood. And they
said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast
down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and
hanged himself.
*Repented-Greek: ;Metamellomai (Met-am-el-lom-ahee): To care
afterwards, that is regret:-repent self.
Regret:
to feel sad or sorry about (something that you did or did not do) :
to have regrets about something.
(merriam-webster.com)
Regret for wrong doing, is not "repentance," for
wrong doing!
II Corinthians
7:10 NLT
For the kind
of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin
and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of
sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance,
results in spiritual death.
Luke 5:32 KJV
I came not to
call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
What happened to Judas?
Acts 1:16-20 KJV
16 Men and
brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which The
Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which
was guide to them that took Jesus.
17 For he was
numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
(Matthew 27:5 KJV And he cast down the pieces of
silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.)
18 Now this man (the priests) purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and
falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his
bowels gushed out.
19 And it was
known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is
called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of
blood.
20 For it is
written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and
let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
Acts 1:23-26
KJV (The disciples choose a
replacement for fallen Judas.)
23 And they
appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and
Matthias.
24 And they
prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men,
shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may
take part of this ministry and apostleship, from
which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
26 And they
gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was
numbered with the eleven apostles.
Luke 11:23 NLT
Anyone who
isn’t with Me opposes Me, and anyone who isn’t working with Me is
actually working against Me.
Hebrews 9:27 KJV
And as it is
appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Matthew 26:24
KJV (Jesus)
The Son Of Man
goeth as it is written of Him: but woe* unto
that man by whom
The Son Of Man
is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been
born.
*Woe-Greek: Ouai (Oo-ah'ee): Exclamation of grief, woe.
Grief:
Keen mental suffering or distress over affliction or loss; sharp sorrow;
painful regret.
(Dictionary.Com)
To think, that at one time Judas was called.....
Psalm 41:9 KJV (Jesus called him friend.)
Yea, Mine own
familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of My bread, hath
lifted up his heel against Me.
Matthew 10:1-4 KJV (Jesus called Judas a disciple, with the
other eleven, who were called and commissioned.)
1 And when He
had called unto him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against
unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness
and all manner of disease.
2 Now the names
of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called
Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his
brother;
3 Philip, and
Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of
Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
4 Simon the
Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot..."
What is the end of this matter?
More than interesting to note is the fact that eleven disciples
called Jesus, Master, meaning Lord, of their lives. One man called
Him, Rabbi, meaning teacher, (not having called Him, Lord) that man
was Judas.
Who is Jesus to us? If He is merely a fine teacher, we have no
Savior, and we are lost!
If Jesus is our Savior, and Lord, we are saved, and have everlasting
Life and joy, now and to come.
Mark 16:16 KJV
He that
believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not
shall be damned.
John 3:14-18 KJV
14 "...so
must The Son Of Man be lifted up:
15 That
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so
loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent
not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through Him might be saved.
18 He that
believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of The
Only Begotten Son Of God.
