Perhaps the world's best “con artist,” was George C. Parker. For
some 30 years it was his habit to sell the Brooklyn bridge, no less
than twice a week! One time he sold it for the some of $50,000
dollars.
Now before you get the wrong idea of George, as being some penny ante
crook, think again. George also sold on a regular basis Madison
Square Gardens and the Statue of Liberty.
And yes he was very successful, police would have to be called from
keeping new owners of the Brooklyn Bridge, from setting up
tollbooths!
