Lord's Prayer-The

Bible Questions Answered:
“I see a Bible error concerning the Lord's prayer. In Matthew he says “in earth as it is in heaven” while in Luke He says “as in heaven, so in earth.” This shows a complete incongruity between Matthew and Luke!...”
Renny/ Paris, France (IIe-de-France)

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:

Matthew 6:10 KJV (Christ's first year of ministry-sermon on the mount.)
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Luke 11:2 KJV (Christ's last year of ministry, His disciples ask “teach us to pray.”
"...Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth."

First:
QUESTION: What is the difference between these two verses?
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth."

ANSWER: Absolutely nothing! Both phrases, say and mean the very same thing. God's will should be done in earth, as it is done in heaven!

Second:
We as the people of God, are “not,” to be praying repetitiously, mechanical fixed prayers!

Matthew 6:7,8 KJV
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him.

God's people are to pray from their hearts in love and worship.

Jesus plainly told His followers,...
Matthew 6:9 KJV
After this manner* therefore pray ye..."

*Manner-Greek: Houto, Houtos (Hoo-toce): On this fashion, in like manner.

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Our Savior said this prayer was to be a template, a guide to our own prayers.
