Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church: Church Title: Body Of Christ.

Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church:

Church Title: Body Of Christ.

Bible Text:

Romans 12:4,5 NLT
4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function,
5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

I Corinthians 10:17 KJV
"... we are one body.

I Corinthians 12:12,27 KJV
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Ephesians 1:22,23 NLT
22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.
23 And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself.

Ephesians 4:15,16 NLT
15 "...We will speak The Truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is The Head of His body, the church.
16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Ephesians 5:23,29,30 NLT
23 "...Christ is The Head Of The church. He is The Savior of His Body, The Church.
29 "...Christ cares for the church.
30 And we are members of His body.

Colossians 1:18.24 ERV
18 He is The Head Of The Body, which is the church. He is The Beginning of everything else.
And He is The First among all who will be raised from death. So in everything He is most important.
24 I am happy in my sufferings for you. There is much that Christ must still suffer. And I gladly accept my part of those sufferings in my body for the good of His body, the church.

Colossians 2:19 KJV
"...Christ, The Head Of The Body. For He holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.

The Body Of Christ:

I Corinthians 12:12-31 NLT (One Body with Many Parts)
12 The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with
the body of Christ.
13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.
14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.

15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body.

16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?

18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where H e wants it.
19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part!
20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.
21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”
22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.
23 And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen,
24 while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity.
25 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.
26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.

27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
28 Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:

first are apostles,
second are prophets,
third are teachers,
then those who do miracles,
those who have the gift of healing,
those who can help others,
those who have the gift of leadership,
those who speak in unknown languages.

29 Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles?
30 Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not!
31 So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all. (I Corinthians 13:1-13- the LOVE chapter.)

John 13:34,35 KJV
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Ephesians 4:1-16 NLT (Unity in the Body)
1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving The Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.
2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.
5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all,who is over all, in all, and living through all.
7 However, He has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ.
8 That is why the Scriptures say,“When He ascended to the heights, He led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to His people.”
9 Notice that it says “He ascended.” This clearly means that Christ also descended to our lowly world.
10 And the same One who descended is the One who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that He might fill the entire universe with Himself.
11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in The Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like The Truth.
15 Instead, we will speak The Truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of His body, the church.
16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Dear Christian friend, we are a part of the body of Christ, and have been given spiritual gifts to edify His body, the church.

I Corinthians 12:7 NLT
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other

Ephesians 4:7,8 KJV
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of The Gift Of Christ.
8 Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Now, how are we to exercise our gifts in the church, let's ask the Apostle Paul.

Romans 12:4-8 NLT
4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function,
5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
6 In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.
7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.
8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

I Corinthians 1:10 NLT
I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

I Corinthians 12:25 KJV
This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.
I Corinthians 14:40 KJV
Let all things be done decently and in order.

I Corinthians 14:33 KJV
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

I Corinthians 14:32 KJV
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

If we but follow the Apostles guidelines, our church will be a place of peace and blessings, without which will only result in chaos and anarchy.

Ephesians 4:2 NLT
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each others faults because of your love.

Revelation 1:13 KJV
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks (Lamp stands) one like unto The Son Of Man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Revelation 1:20 KJV
The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in My right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels (Messengers) of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Revelation 2:1 KJV
"...These things saith He that holdeth the seven stars in His right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks

Dear ones, our Lord, walks among us, let us be careful, no matter what we do, to do all to His praise and glory!

II Corinthians 4:15 NLT
All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.
