(Dictionary.Com)
Genesis 19:1-5 NLT
1 That evening the two angels came
to the entrance of the city of Sodom. Lot was sitting there, and when
he saw them, he stood up to meet them. Then he welcomed them and
bowed with his face to the ground.
2 “My lords,” he said, “come
to my home to wash your feet, and be my guests for the night. You may
then get up early in the morning and be on your way again.” “Oh
no,” they replied. “We’ll just spend the night out here in the
city square.”
3 But Lot insisted, so at last they
went home with him. Lot prepared a feast for them, complete with
fresh bread made without yeast, and they ate.
4 But before they retired for the
night, all the men of Sodom, young and old, came from all over the
city and surrounded the house.
5 They shouted to Lot, “Where are
the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so
we can have sex with them!”
People who live in
lasciviousness, will “not,” inherit the kingdom of God.
Lasciviousness:
Matthew 5:27,28
NLT
27 “You have
heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’
28 But I say,
anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed
adultery with her in his heart.
Mark 7:20-23 NLT
20 And then he
added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you.
21 For from
within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual
immorality, theft, murder,
22 adultery,
greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires (lasciviousness- KJV),
envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.
23 All these
vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”
Romans 1:21-29
NLT
21 Yes, they
knew God, but they wouldn’t worship Him as God or even give Him
thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was
like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
22 Claiming to
be wise, they instead became utter fools.
23 And instead
of worshiping The Glorious, Ever-Living God, they worshiped idols
made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 So God
abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired.
As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s
bodies.
25 They traded
The Truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the
things God created instead of The Creator Himself, who is worthy of
eternal praise! Amen.
26 That is why
God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned
against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with
each other.
27 And the men,
instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with
lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a
result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they
deserved.
28 Since they
thought it foolish to acknowledge God, He abandoned them to their
foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.
29 Their lives
became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy,
murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.
Romans 13:11-14
NLT
11 This is all
the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out.
Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
12 The night is
almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your
dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right
living.
13 Because we
belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t
participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in
sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.
14 Instead,
clothe yourself with the presence of The Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t
let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.
I Corinthians
5:11 KJV
But now I have
written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a
brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or
a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
I Corinthians
6:9-13;18 NLT
9 Don’t you
realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God?
Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who
worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or
practice homosexuality,
10 or are
thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat
people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.
11 Some of you
were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you
were made right with God by calling on the name of The Lord Jesus
Christ and by The Spirit Of our God.
(Avoid Sexual
Sin)
12 You say, “I
am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you.
And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become
a slave to anything.
13 You say,
“Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This
is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you
can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They
were made for The Lord, and The Lord cares about our bodies.
18 Run from
sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one
does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.
19 Don’t you
realize that your body is the temple of The Holy Spirit, who lives in
you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,
20 for God
bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
I Corinthians
7:2 KJV
Nevertheless,
to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every
woman have her own husband.
II Corinthians
12:21 NLT
Yes, I am
afraid that when I come again, God will humble me in your presence.
And I will be grieved because many of you have not given up your old
sins. You have not repented of your impurity, sexual immorality, and
eagerness for lustful pleasure (lasciviousness KJV).
Galatians
5:19-21 NLT
19 When you
follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear:
sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
20 idolatry,
sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish
ambition, dissension, division,
21 envy,
drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you
again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will
not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Ephesians
4:18,19 NLT
18 Their minds
are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because
they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against Him.
19 They have no
sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure (lasciviousness KJV)
and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
Ephesians 5:5
NLT
You can be sure
that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of
Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the
things of this world.
Colossians 3;5,6
NKJV
5 Therefore put
to death your members which are on the earth: fornication,
uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is
idolatry.
6 Because of
these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience
II Timothy 3:1-3
KJV
1 This know
also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall
be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without
natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors,
heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Hebrews 13:4 NLT
Give honor to
marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will
surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.
I Peter 4:3 NLT
You have had
enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their
immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties,
and their terrible worship of idols.
Jude 1:4-7 NLT
4 I say this
because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches,
saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives.
The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have
denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
5 So I want to
remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first
rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later He destroyed those
who did not remain faithful.
6 And I remind
you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God
gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them
securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of
judgment.
7 And don’t
forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were
filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those
cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal
fire of God’s judgment.
Revelation
21:8,11-14 NLT
8 “But
cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who
practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is
in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
