Twinkling Of An Eye
Bible Questions Answered:
“What is the twinkling of an eye?”

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
I Corinthians 15:51-58 KJV
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We
shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling*
of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and
the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on
incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall
have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is
written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O
grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and
the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which
giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren,
be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of
The Lord, forasmuch as ye know that
your labor is not in vain in The Lord.
*Twinkling-Greek:
Rhipe (Hree-pay): A jerk of the eye, an instant: twinkling.
I Corinthians
15:52 NLT
It will happen in a moment, in
the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the
trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever.
And we who are living will also be transformed.
I Corinthians
15:52 CEV
It will happen suddenly, quicker
than the blink of an eye. At the sound of the last trumpet the
dead will be raised. We will all be changed, so that we will never
die again.
I Corinthians
15:52 ERV
It will only take the time of a
second. We will be changed as quickly as an eye blinks.
This will happen when the last trumpet blows. The trumpet will blow
and those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we will
all be changed.
I Corinthians
15:51-54 MSG
But let me tell you something
wonderful, a mystery I’ll probably never fully understand. We’re
not all going to die—but we are all going to be changed. You hear a
blast to end all blasts from a trumpet, and in the time that you look
up and blink your eyes—it’s over. On signal from that
trumpet from heaven, the dead will be up and out of their graves,
beyond the reach of death, never to die again. At the same moment and
in the same way, we’ll all be changed.
So just how fast is
“the twinkling of an eye?” Scientists tell us it is
1/6,000,000,000th of a second.
Really fast!
Certainly no time to pray or get one self spiritually ready to meet
The Lord!
There is soon
coming the “secret-catching away,” of Christ's bride the church
of The Lord Jesus Christ.
I Thessalonians
4:13-18 NLT
13 And now, dear brothers and
sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who
have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
14 For since we believe that Jesus
died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus
returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died.
15 We tell you this directly from
The Lord: We who are still living when The Lord returns will not meet
Him ahead of those who have died.
16 For The Lord Himself will come
down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who
have died will rise from their graves.
17 Then, together with them, we who
are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the
clouds to meet The Lord in the air. Then we will be with The Lord
forever.
18 So encourage each other with
these words.
Our Savior warns,
the hour is late, the time of His coming is near:
Matthew 25:1-13
KJV
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven
be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth
to meet The Bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and
five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their
lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil (Oil
a type of The Holly Spirit) in their vessels with their
lamps.
5 While The Bridegroom tarried, they
all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry
made, Behold, The Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and
trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the
wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not
so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them
that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, The
Bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with Him to the
marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other
virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But He answered and said, Verily
I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know
neither the day nor the hour wherein The Son Of Man cometh.
Hebrews 4:7 KJV
"...To day if ye will hear His
voice, harden not your hearts.
Amos 4:12 KJV
"...prepare to meet thy God..."
“at midnight there was a cry
made, Behold, The Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him.”
II Corinthians
6:1,2 NLT
1 As God’s partners, we beg you
not to accept this marvelous Gift Of God’s Kindness and then ignore
it.
2 For God says, “At just the right
time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.”
Indeed, the “right time” is
now. Today is the day of salvation.
Romans 6:23 KJV
For the wages of sin is death; but
The Gift Of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
