Veil-Upon Their Hearts- 2
Bible Questions Answered:
“What is meant by the blinding vail
of the heart?”
Rafah/ Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Riyadh
Province)
Bible Answer:
Bible Text:
II Corinthians 3:15 KJV
But even unto this day, when Moses
is read, the vail is upon their heart.
Moses, is referred
to as the law, or The Torah, the books of Moses, containing of course
The Ten Commandments.
The word of the
Apostle Paul:
II Corinthians
3:6-18 NLT (A New glorious Covenant.)
6 He has enabled us
to be ministers of His new covenant. This is a covenant not
of written laws, but of The Spirit. The old written
covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit
gives life.
7 The old way,
with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with
such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’
face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the
brightness was already fading away.
8 Shouldn’t we
expect far greater glory under The New Way, now that The Holy
Spirit is giving life?
9 If the old
way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more
glorious is
The New Way,
which makes us right with God!
10 In fact, that
first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming
glory of
The New Way.
11 So if the old
way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more
glorious is
The New,
which remains forever!
12 Since this New
Way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold.
13 We are not like
Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not
see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away.
14 But the
people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old
covenant is being read,
the same veil
covers their minds so they cannot understand
The Truth. And
this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ.
(Deuteronomy
29:4 NLT (Sin blocks understanding.)
But to this day The
Lord has not given you minds that understand, nor eyes that see, nor
ears that hear! )
15 Yes, even
today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with
that veil, and they do not understand.
(Romans 3:20 KJV
Therefore by the deeds of the law
there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the
knowledge of sin.
Ephesians 2:8,9
KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The Gift Of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should
boast.)
16 But whenever
someone turns to The Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 For The Lord is
The Spirit, and wherever The Spirit of The Lord is, there is
freedom.
18 So all of us who
have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of The Lord.
And The Lord—who is The Spirit—makes us more and more like Him as
we are changed into His glorious image.
Isaiah 6:9,10
NCV (The Lords call to Isaiah.)
9 Then The Lord said, “Go and tell
this to the people: ‘You will listen and listen, but you will not
understand.
You will look and look, but you will
not learn.’
10 Make the minds of these people
dumb. Shut their ears. Cover their eyes.
Otherwise, they might really
understand what they see with their eyes and hear with their ears.
They might really understand in their minds and come back to Me and
be healed.”
The original Hebrew
reads as follows (This people's heart has become calloused,
they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their
eyes."
(Israel's sins
caused their lack of understanding, not, that it was brought on by
The Lord!)
Israel's commands
to righteous living, only proved that, they only thing they could do
was to fail.
How the book of
Judges shows us Israel's past. Obedience, blessing, lethargy,
coldness, sin, judgment, repentance, Obedience, blessing. The cycle
repeated, and repeated.
Righteous commands,
did only one thing for mankind, they were given to show mankind that
they were not capable of living perfect (that is sinless) before God!
Jeremiah the
prophet prophesied of a day when....
Jeremiah
31:31-34 MSG
31-32 “That’s right. The time is
coming when I will make a brand-New Covenant with Israel and
Judah. It won’t be a repeat of the covenant I made with their
ancestors when I took their hand to lead them out of the land of
Egypt. They broke that covenant even though I did my part as
their Master.” God’s Decree.
33-34 “This is the brand-New
Covenant that I will make with Israel when the time comes. I will
put My law within them—write it on their hearts!—and be their
God. And they will be My people. They will no longer go around
setting up schools to teach each other about God. They’ll know Me
firsthand, the dull and the bright, the smart and the slow. I’ll
wipe the slate clean for each of them. I’ll forget they ever
sinned!” God’s Decree.
What the old
covenant could never do (produce righteousness by works) The New
Covenant, can do.
Galatians
3:19-29 NLT
19 Why, then, was the law given? It
was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the
law was designed to last only until the coming of The Child who was
promised. God gave His law through angels to Moses, who was the
mediator between God and the people.
20 Now a mediator is helpful if more
than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is One, did not
use a mediator when He gave His promise to Abraham.
21 Is there a conflict, then,
between God’s law and God’s promises? Absolutely not! If the law
could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying
it.
22 But the Scriptures declare that
we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom
only by believing in Jesus Christ.
23 Before The Way of faith in Christ
was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were
kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was
revealed.
24 Let me put it another way. The
law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we
could be made right with God through faith.
25 And now that The Way of faith has
come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.
26 For you are all children of God
through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 And all who have been united with
Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.
28 There is no longer Jew or
Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in
Christ Jesus.
29 And now that you belong to
Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and
God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.
II Corinthians
4:6 KJV
For God, who commanded The Light to
shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give The Light
of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Colossians
1:19-23 NLT
19 For God in all His fullness was
pleased to live in Christ,
20 and through Him God reconciled
everything to Himself.
He made peace with everything in
heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
21 This includes you who were once
far away from God. You were His enemies, separated from Him by your
evil thoughts and actions.
22 Yet now He has reconciled
you to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As a
result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy
and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault.
23 But you must continue to believe
this Truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the
assurance you received when you heard The Good News. The Good News
has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been
appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.
In theology, this
is called Justification, when we accept Christ as our Savior, He
justifies us, clears our record of sin. Justification:
Declared righteous through the blood of Christ, He who took our place
in judgment and death, the judgment we deserved.
Praise The Lord, do
you know this wonderful Savior?
Receive Him, today,
and have you name forever written in The Lamb's Book Of Life in
heaven!
