Salvation Formula

Bible Questions Answered:
“Pastor, I have this friend I try to witness to him, he admits not being good like god, and thats about it. He says he knows god is forgiving and that's all he will talk about. So I don't know...”

Bible Answer:
The formula for salvation is not simply “acknowledgment” of one's sins!!

The Salvation formula is, repentance, faith, and then confession!
Not one of these links, may be omitted and or substituted for an other!

An essential link, as seen above, is that of “repentance.”

Our Savior speaks of repentance:

Matthew 4:17 KJV

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 9:12,13 KJV
12 But when Jesus heard that, He said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Matthew 11:20 NLT
Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where He had done so many of His miracles, because they hadn’t repented of their sins and turned to God.

Mark 2:17 KJV
When Jesus heard it, He saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 5:31,32 KJV
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 13:3,5 KJV
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Luke 15:7,10 KJV
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

The Word:

Acts 17:30 KJV
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Romans 2:4 KJV
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and long suffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

II Corinthians 7:10 NLT
For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

II Corinthians 12:21 NLT
Yes, I am afraid that when I come again, God will humble me in your presence. And I will be grieved because many of you have not given up your old sins. You have not repented of your impurity, sexual immorality, and eagerness for lustful pleasure.

Hebrews 6:1 KJV
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

II Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Our Savior instructs churches to repent!

Revelation 2:5 KJV (The Church in Ephesus.)
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Revelation 2:16 KJV (The Church in Pergamum.)
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Revelation 2:21,22 KJV (The Church in Thyatira.)
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

Revelation 3:3 KJV (The Church in Sardis.)
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Revelation 3:19 KJV (The Church in Laodicea.)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Just think for just one moment, if mere acknowledgment of sin, made for salvation,
why even devils would be saved, if that were the case. But, they are not!

James 2:19 KJV
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works (confession) is dead?

James 2:19 NLT
19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.
20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds (Confession) is useless?

James 2:19,20 MSG
Do I hear you professing to believe in the one and only God, but then observe you complacently sitting back as if you had done something wonderful? That’s just great. Demons do that, but what good does it do them? Use your heads! Do you suppose for a minute that you can cut faith and works (confession) in two and not end up with a corpse on your hands?

Romans 10:9,10 KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth The Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Repentance, faith, and confession, may not be separated the one from thee other!

Acknowledging that there is a God, is not enough to save anyone!

Repentance: Sorrow over sin, and humble asking forgiveness, with the intent of sinning no more.
Faith: Belief in the living, loving, eternal, Almighty God, who alone has the power to save, and that through His Gift, The Savior of mankind, The Lord Jesus Christ.
Confession: It is not, enough to have repented, and to have embraced faith, a Christian, is an ambassador of heaven, called so be so by our Savior!

Matthew 28:18-20 KJV
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of
The Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
