Idle Words
Bible Questions Answered:
“What are -idle words-according to
Jesus, that people say?”
Levon/ Toronto, Canada Ontario
Bible Answer:
Bible Text:
Matthew 12:22-36 KJV
22 Then was brought unto Him one
possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and He healed him, insomuch
that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
23 And all the people were amazed,
and said, Is not this The Son Of David?
24 But when the Pharisees heard it,
they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the
prince of the devils.
25 And Jesus knew their thoughts,
and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought
to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall
not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he
is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out
devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall
be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by The
Spirit Of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29 Or else how can one enter into a
strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the
strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
30 He that is not with Me is against
Me; and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth abroad.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All
manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the
blasphemy against The Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word
against The Son Of Man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever
speaketh against The Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him,
neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
33 Either make the tree good, and
his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt:
for the tree is known by his fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can
ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the
heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good
treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out
of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every
idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account
thereof in the day of judgment.
Certainly, Jesus
here had reference to the Pharisees who said, that...
24 ...This fellow doth not cast out
devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
These “idle
words,” Jesus said.... (Matthew 12:31/ Mark 3:28/Luke 12:10)
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All
manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the
blasphemy against The Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto
men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word
against The Son Of Man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever
speaketh against The Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him,
neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Homily:
A man was told by
his doctor that he had a serious life threatening disease, and that
he needed treatment immediately.
But the man, did
not feel ill, and did not see any reason for a series of injections,
so he refused all medical advice.
Question, how could
this man be helped, if adamantly, he refused all help? Answer, he
could never be helped, because of the course, he had chosen himself.

To say that
ascribing the works of God The Holy Spirit to Satan, are “idle
words” is the very least to be sure.
And that they are
sins, without redemption, is by definition here, totally by the
Christ rejector's choice, alone.
And “idle words,”
of course are more than just these,
The Word:
Exodus 20:7 KJV
Thou shalt not take the name of The
Lord thy God in vain; for The Lord will not hold him guiltless that
taketh His name in vain.
Psalm 10:4-7 KJV
4 The wicked, through the pride of
his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his
thoughts.
5 His ways are always grievous; thy
judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he
puffeth at them.
6 He hath said in his heart, I shall
not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
7 His mouth is full of cursing and
deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
Psalm 17:3 NLT
You have tested my thoughts and
examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found
nothing wrong. I am determined not to sin in what I say.
Psalm 59:12,13
KJV
12 For the sin of their mouth and
the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and
for cursing and lying which they speak.
13 Consume them in wrath, consume
them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in
Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
Psalm 109:17-20
KJV
17 As he loved cursing, so let it
come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from
him.
18 As he clothed himself with
cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like
water, and like oil into his bones.
19 Let it be unto him as the garment
which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded
continually.
20 Let this be the reward of mine
adversaries from The Lord, and of them that speak evil against my
soul.
Proverbs 4:24
NLT
Avoid all perverse talk; stay away
from corrupt speech.
Matthew 15:18,19
KJV
18 But those things which proceed
out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil
thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness,
blasphemies:
Romans 3:13-18
NLT
13 “Their talk is foul, like the
stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with lies.”
“Snake venom drips from their lips.”
14 “Their mouths are full of
cursing and bitterness.”
15 “They rush to commit murder.
16 Destruction and misery always
follow them.
17 They don’t know where to find
peace.”
18 “They have no fear of God at
all.”
Ephesians 4:31
KJV
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and
anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all
malice:
Colossians 3:8
KJV
But now ye also put off all these;
anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your
mouth.
James 3:8-10 KJV
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it
is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even The
Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the
similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth
blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
James 5:12 KJV
But above all things, my brethren,
swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any
other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall
into condemnation.
I Peter 1:15,16
KJV
15 But as He which hath called you
is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye
holy; for I am holy.
Revelation
13:1,4-6 KJV
1 And I stood upon the sand of the
sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and
ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name
of blasphemy.
4 And they worshiped the dragon
which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast,
saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a
mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto
him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in
blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His tabernacle, and
them that dwell in heaven.
Revelation
17:3-6 KJV
3 So he carried me away in The
spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet
colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten
horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in
purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones
and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and
filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name
written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And
Abominations Of The Earth.
6 And I saw the woman drunken with
the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus:
and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
Make this your
daily prayer:
Psalm 19:14 KJV
Let the words of my mouth, and the
meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my
strength, and my redeemer.
