Bible Questions Answered: Leaving A Church

Bible Questions Answered:
I'm in a church where the pastor thinks it ok to drink wine, and other drinks occasionally, and I belive the Bible says that this is wrong. What should I do?

Ralph W./ Tulsa, Ok.

Bible Answer:

See our blog -Bible Questions Answered:“What About Drinking?”

You are right of course to question such practices.

Remember our Lord's guide lines found in....

Matthew 18:15-17 KJV
[15] Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
[16] But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
[17] And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

If you stand alone on the issue, should you leave the church?

Yes.

And you must do so, because of raising up your family according to the Word of God.

II Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV
[14] Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
[15] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
[16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
[18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
