Bible Lesson: Prophecies And Their
Fulfillment:
Bible Prophecy: Christ's
Triumphal Entry.
Bible Texts:
The Prophecy:
Zechariah 9:9 NLT
Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in
triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you. He
is Righteous and Victorious, yet He is Humble, riding on a donkey
riding on a donkey’s colt.
Isaiah 62:11 NLT
The Lord has sent this message to
every land: “Tell the people of Israel,‘Look, your Savior is
coming. See, He brings His reward with Him as He comes.’”
Prophecy
Fulfillment:
John 12:12-15
KJV (Jesus’ Triumphant Entry)
12 The next day, the news that Jesus
was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of
Passover visitors
13 took palm branches and went down
the road to meet Him. They shouted, “Praise God!
Blessings on the one who comes in
the name of The Lord!
Hail to The King Of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and
rode on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said:
15 “Don’t be afraid, people of
Jerusalem. Look, your King is coming, riding on a donkey’s colt.”
Matthew 21:1-11
KJV
1 And when they drew nigh unto
Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then
sent Jesus two disciples,
2 Saying unto them, Go into the
village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied,
and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto Me.
3 And if any man say ought unto you,
ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will
send them.
4 All this was done, that it might
be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion,
Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and
a colt the foal of an ass.
6 And the disciples went, and did as
Jesus commanded them,
7 And brought the ass, and the colt,
and put on them their clothes, and they set Him thereon.
8 And a very great multitude spread
their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees,
and strawed them in the way.
Hosanna: "Save, we
pray!"
Psalm 118:25,26
KJV
25 Save now, I beseech thee, O
Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed be he that cometh in the
name of The Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of
The Lord.
9 And the multitudes that went
before, and that followed, cried, saying,
Hosanna to The Son Of David:
Blessed is He that cometh in the name of The Lord; Hosanna in
the highest.
10 And when He was come into
Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11 And the multitude said, This is
Jesus The Prophet Of Nazareth Of Galilee.
Who were these
people, so determined to make Jesus, their King?
Luke 4:28-30 KJV
(Nazareth. Read verses 14-30)
28 And all they in the synagogue,
when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust Him out
of the city, and led Him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city
was built, that they might cast Him down headlong.
30 But He passing through the midst
of them went His way,
John 10:17-20
KJV
17 Therefore doth My Father love Me,
because I lay down My life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from Me, but I
lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power
to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father.
19 There was a division therefore
again among the Jews for these sayings.
20 And many of them said, He hath a
devil, and is mad; why hear ye Him?
Were these the very
same people, who were shouting hosanna (Jesus, Save us we pray!) Yes!
If they so hated
Him, how and why, did they wish Him to be their King?
As much as they
hated, having their sins exposed, even more they hated Roman rule
over their land, and lives.
And so selfishly
they tried to make Christ (The miracle worker) their King, hoping to
banish Rome and its tyrannical rule.
But though they
would make Him King, Jesus refused, for He had come to be their
Passover Lamb, and Savior, not king.
John 18:33-37
NLT
33 Then Pilate went back into his
headquarters and called for Jesus to be brought to him. “Are you
The king Of The Jews?” he asked Him.
34 Jesus replied, “Is this your
own question, or did others tell you about Me?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate
retorted. “Your own people and their leading priests brought you to
me for trial. Why? What have you done?”
36 Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is
not an earthly kingdom. If it were, My followers would fight to keep
Me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But My Kingdom is
not of this world.”
37 Pilate said, “So you are A
King?” Jesus responded, “You say I am A King. Actually, I was
born and came into the world to testify to The Truth. All who love
The Truth recognize that what I say is true.”
The Jews, being
denied their delivering King, rushed to Pilate, to have Him
crucified.
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate
retorted. “Your own people and their leading priests brought you to
me for trial. Why? What have you done?”
Even from the
cross, they taunted Him...
Matthew 27:42
KJV
He saved others; Himself He cannot
save. If He be The King Of Israel, let Him now come down from the
cross, and we will believe Him.
Their eyes being blinded, they did
not understand that on Passover, God would sacrifice His own spotless
(sinless) Lamb, for the sins of all the world.
I Peter 1:18,19
KJV
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were
not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your
vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with The Precious Blood Of
Christ, as of A Lamb Without Blemish And Without Spot:
John 1:29 KJV
The next day John seeth Jesus coming
unto him, and saith, Behold The Lamb Of God, which taketh away the
sin of the world.
I Corinthians
5:7 KJV
"...Christ our Passover is
sacrificed for us."
II Corinthians
5:21 NLT
For God made Christ, who never
sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made
right with God through Christ.
Prayer:
Acts 2:21 KJV
“And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of The Lord shall be saved.”
Acts 4:12 KJV
“Neither is there salvation in any
other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved.”
