Bible Lesson: Prophecies And Their
Fulfillment:
Bible Prophecy: The Lord, A
Priest, As Melchizedek.
Bible Text:
The Prophecy:
Psalm 110:4 KJV B.C. 605 - 535
The Lord hath sworn, and will not
repent, Thou art A Priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
Psalm 110:4 NLT
The Lord has taken an oath and will
not break His vow: “You are A Priest forever in the order of
Melchizedek.”
The Fulfillment:
Hebrew 6:20 KJV A.D.64
Whither The Forerunner is for us
entered, even Jesus, made an High Priest for ever after the order of
Melchisedec.
Hebrews 6:20 NLT
Jesus has already gone in there for
us. He has become our Eternal High Priest in the order of
Melchizedek.
Melchizedek:
Genesis 14:17-20 KJV (Abraham rescued Lot, then...)
17 After Abram
returned from his victory over Kedorlaomer and all his allies, the
king of Sodom went out to meet him in the valley of Shaveh (that is,
the King’s Valley).
18 And
Melchizedek, The King Of Salem and A Priest Of God Most High, brought
Abram some bread and wine.
19 Melchizedek
blessed Abram with this blessing: “Blessed be Abram by God Most
High, Creator of heaven and earth.
20 And blessed
be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.” Then
Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.
Psalm 110:4 KJV
The Lord hath
sworn, and will not repent, Thou art A Priest for ever after the
order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 5:5,6
KJV
5 So also
Christ glorified not Himself to be made an High Priest; but He that
said unto Him, Thou art My Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6 As He saith
also in another place, Thou art A Priest for ever after the order of
Melchizedek.
Hebrews 7:15-17
KJV (Be sure to read the whole
chapter 1-28)
15 And it is
yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchizedek
there ariseth another Priest,
16 Who is made,
not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an
endless life.
17 For He
testifieth, Thou art A Priest for ever after the order of
Melchizedek.
In Genesis 14, the story is told of war between 4 Northern kings who
had come down against 5 Southern kings, looting and taking captive
many, one of which was Lot, Abraham's Nephew. Abram amassed an army
to go after them, capturing again the goods and the people taken,
including Lot.
Afterwards Abram met Melchizedek (Genesis 14:17-24 KJV) and received
His blessings.
Ishmael was born, and yet The Lord promised Abram a son.
Then one hot day, Abram had a special encounter with three men, two
of them were mighty angels, come to investigate the sins of Sodom,
and thee other Man was a theophany (Christ in a physical
manifestation.), come to talk to Abram.
Genesis 18:1-10
NLT
1 The Lord
appeared again to Abraham near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. One
day Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the
hottest part of the day.
2 He looked up
and noticed three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran to
meet them and welcomed them, bowing low to the ground.
3 “My lord,”
he said, “if it pleases you, stop here for a while.
4 Rest in the
shade of this tree while water is brought to wash your feet.
5 And since
you’ve honored your servant with this visit, let me prepare some
food to refresh you before you continue on your journey.” “All
right,” they said. “Do as you have said.”
6 So Abraham
ran back to the tent and said to Sarah, “Hurry! Get three large
measures of your best flour, knead it into dough, and bake some
bread.”
7 Then Abraham
ran out to the herd and chose a tender calf and gave it to his
servant, who quickly prepared it.
8 When the food
was ready, Abraham took some yogurt and milk and the roasted meat,
and he served it to the men. As they ate, Abraham waited on them in
the shade of the trees.
9 “Where is
Sarah, your wife?” the visitors asked. “She’s inside the tent,”
Abraham replied.
10 Then one of
them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and
your wife, Sarah, will have a son!”
The point to all this is that Abram, had been visited several times
by the (theophany) preincarnate, Lord Jesus.
Was Melchizedek, also a theophany? Yes.
Melchizedek:
A Priest forever. (Hebrews 2:17 KJV/ Hebrews 7:21 KJV)
King of righteousness.(Psalm 119:142 KJV)
King of Peace (Salem). (Isaiah 9:6 KJV)
Priest of The Most High (Hebrews 5,6,7 KJV)
Received tithes. (Matthew 23:23 NLT)
Presented bread and wine to Abram. (I Corinthians 11:23-26 KJV)
“Without father, without mother, without descent (ancestors),
having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto
the Son of God” (Hebrews 7:3 KJV)
“An endless life” (Hebrews 7:16 KJV)
How could these things be said of a mere mortal?
Psalm 110:4 KJV
The Lord hath sworn, and will not
repent, Thou art A Priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
Our Lord was after the order of Melchizedek, because He was
Melchizedek.
Hebrews 7:24-26
KJV
24 But this
Man, because He continueth ever, hath an unchangeable Priesthood.
25 Wherefore he
is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him,
seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 For such an
High Priest became us, who is Holy, Harmless, Undefiled, Separate
from sinners, and made Higher than the heavens;
Prayer:
John 1;12,13 KJV
12 But as many as received Him,
to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on His name:
13 Which were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Acts 2:21 KJV
“And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of The Lord shall be saved.”
