Bible Lesson: Answered Prayer: Jabez Prays For God's Blessings.

Bible Lesson: Answered Prayer: Jabez Prays For God's Blessings.

Subject Of Prayer: Jabez Believed That God Would Bless The One Who Would Live Faithfully To Him.

Bible Text:

 I Chronicles 4:9-10 NLT
9 There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez* because his birth had been so painful.
10 He was the one who prayed to The God Of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.

*Jabez-Hebrew: Yabets (Yah-bates): To grieve; sorrowful.

Who was Jabez?
Actually, we do not know. What we do know is that a city was named Jabez, perhaps  in honor of thee Jabez.

I Chronicles 2:54,55 NLT
54 The descendants of Salma were the people of Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, the other half of the Manahathites, the Zorites,
55 and the families of scribes living at Jabez—the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. All these were Kenites who descended from Hammath, the father of the family of Recab.

If this was the case, than more than perhaps, Jabez was a Jewish scribe.

I Chronicles 4:9 NLT
Jabez was an honorable man, more than his brothers.

Honorable: A person who is upright, of dignity, noble, worthy of honor, high respect, creditable, a person of principles of honor.

Jabez, born through much pain. In America in the year 2013, 19 women died of every 100,000 who gave birth.
Jabez, could have been born by breech birth. Breech birth is when the bottom of the baby is delivered first, the head last (Head first the normal birth pattern).

In today's world a breech baby is born by Caesarean section (this was not  possible 3,000 years ago.), as there is a high rate of  mortality for vaginal breech delivery, and also the fact that most if  not all hospitals will not permit, Breech vaginal deliveries. Is it possible for a Breech baby to be born vaginally, yes, but most doctors, and or hospitals, have not been trained how as to perform such delivers.

Whatever the case was with Jabez, his birth caused his mother much pain, and yet Jabez lived and so did his mother.

 Who was Jabez?
I Chronicles 4:10 NLT
He was the one who prayed to The God Of Israel...”

Psalm 5:3 KJV
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
