Third John 1:11

Bible Questions Answered:
“There are countless people, John says so, who do good and who know god and they don't necessarily believe like you do in your narrow thinking. This is why ...has come out against all forms of strict ideology!....”
Brandon/ Saint Albans, United Kingdom (England)

Bible Answer:

Scripture Referred To:
III John 1:11 KJV
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Antecedental Thought:

James 3:1 KJV
My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

James 3:1 NLT
Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.

Matthew 5:18-20 KJV
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The “calling of God, to teach” (absolutely “not,” a vocation), is indeed a very serious thing!

III John 1:11 KJV
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

To excise this lone verse of beloved John is not only an evil exegetical move, but false doctrine at best!

For are these lone words true or false?

III John 1:11 KJV
“... He that doeth good is of God...”

If these lone words are true, then anyone who does some good....say the satanist who helps out at the soup kitchen for the poor, is really himself, a child of God!

ANATHEMA! God help us to see and know, evil ones that would dare so desecrate the sacred and most Holy Writ Of God.
To Know our Answer, We Must Know, “ALL,” Of What John Wrote, concerning the real children of God.

So let us began.

III John 1:1-11 NLT (Caring for Christian Workers.)
1 This letter is from John, the elder. I am writing to Gaius, my dear friend, whom I love in the truth.
2 Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.
3 Some of the traveling teachers recently returned and made me very happy by telling me about your faithfulness and that you are living according to The Truth.
4 I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following The Truth.
5 Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you.
6 They have told the church here of your loving friendship. Please continue providing for such teachers in a manner that pleases God.
7 For they are traveling for The Lord, and they accept nothing from people who are not believers.
8 So we ourselves should support them so that we can be their partners as they teach The Truth.
9 I wrote to the church about this, but Diotrephes, who loves to be the leader, refuses to have anything to do with us.
10 When I come, I will report some of the things he is doing and the evil accusations he is making against us. Not only does he refuse to welcome the traveling teachers, he also tells others not to help them. And when they do help, he puts them out of the church.
11 Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

In the church of God, was a Wolf in sheep's clothing, and his name was Diotrephes.
Oh how Godly he was, he...
III John 1:9 NLT
“... loves to be the leader,
And he seems to be a defender of the church!
III John 1:9 NLT
...he puts them out of the church.”

But what does the Elder John, say he is?
III John 1:9,10,11 NLT
“...refuses to have anything to do with us.”
...evil accusations he is making against us. Not only does he refuse to welcome the traveling teachers, he also tells others not to help them. And when they do help, he puts them out of the church.
... bad example...”
Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

Diotrephes, evil actions proved that he did not know God!

What did the Elder John teach regarding God's children?

I John 2:22,23,29 KJV
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is The Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and The Son.
23 Whosoever denieth The Son, the same hath not The Father: he that acknowledgeth The Son hath The Father also.
29 If ye know that He (Christ) is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of Him.

I John 2:23,29 KJV
23 Whosoever denieth The Son, the same hath not The Father: he that acknowledgeth The Son hath The Father also.
29 If ye know that He (Christ) is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of Him.

Christians have a life of Confession.
Christians live righteously.

I John 3:1-3,6,7,9,10 KJV
1 Behold, what manner of love The Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.
6 Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
23 And this is His commandment, That we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by The Spirit which He hath given us.

I John 3:3,6,7,9, 23 KJV
3 And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.
6 Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not:
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
23 And this is His commandment, That we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by The Spirit which He hath given us.

Christians, live lives of purity, even as He is pure.
Christians, abide in Him.
Christians, live righteously, even as He is righteous.
Christians, are born of God, and do not practice sin.
Christians, believe in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ.
Christians, love one another, as He gave us commandment.
Christians, keep His commandments, and He dwells in them, and they in Him.
Christians, have The Spirit Of God residing within them.

I John 4:3,7,8,21 KJV
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
21 And this commandment have we from Him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

I John 4:3, KJV
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Christians, confess that Jesus is Lord.
Christians, love one another.

II John 1:9 KJV
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both The Father and The Son.

Christians, abide in the doctrine of Christ, and have both The Father and The Son.

OK, According To The Elder John, Who Really Knows The Lord?”

Christians have a life of Confession.
Christians live righteously.

Christians, confess that Jesus is Lord.
Christians, love one another.

Christians, abide in the doctrine of Christ, and have both The Father and The Son.

This is The Apostle John's three step criteria for those who do good, and who know God!
Are they in The Spirit, are they committed to The Lord, and do their lives show spiritual fruit!

Oh, how the devil would like to pull a fast one of the people of the world, deceiving them into thinking "good workers", and those who may be "very religious" etc. etc. are God's people!
BEWARE, BE FOR WARNED-NOT SO SAYS THE APOSTLE JOHN!

Our dear Lord, addressed this issue in Matthew chapter seven.

Matthew 7:13-23 KJV
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.

Verses 22-23
False fruits!
Outwardly, this church seemed alive with activity.
This church used the name of The Lord.
This church was Charismatic, with prophecy.
This church was energetic in exorcisms.
This church did many outstanding religious works.

Jesus Christ called this church that seemingly did so much “good,” WORKERS OF INIQUITY!
And why was this so?

It was so, because this church mislead its adherents into believing that ceremony and ritual along with the giving of alms, meant salvation!
And in doing so, it lead them into hell.

When was it ceremony, ritual and the giving of money, went to the cross, suffered and bleed for the sins of the world?
Answer: Never.

We must read again the tests of The Elder Apostle John, to know The Truth!
We must read again the words of our Lord, concerning fruits, to know The Truth!

Empty ceremonial rites, and pompous traditions of men, are worthless!!
Men may know and read the Bible, doctrines, and exercise the ordinances of the church, but unless they know The Savior in a living and personal way, all their work is useless.

Salvation comes by confession of sin, repentance for sin (turn around), and calling upon the name of the Savior for salvation.

Isaiah 64:6 KJV
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The Gift Of God:
9 Not of works (Ecclesiastical or otherwise), lest any man should boast.

Romans 3:10,23 KJV
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

What we are called to do, to become children of God:

I John 1:8-10 KJV (Confession of sin.)
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and The Truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.

Matthew 4:17 KJV (Repentance)
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mark 2:17 KJV
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Acts 2:21 KJV (Call upon The Savior.)
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of The Lord shall be saved.

Acts 4:12 KJV
Neither is there salvation in any other (Jesus Christ): for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 10:9,10 KJV (Confession of faith.)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth The Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Luke 6:46-49 KJV (Obedience)
46 And why call ye Me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to Me, and heareth My sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on A Rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon A Rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
