Sectarianism

Bible Questions Answered:
“We are asking, what do you think the true church will be in heaven? Is there one more closely holding to the doctrine than others, etc. Thank you for your answer.”
Lachy/ Brisbane, Australia (Queensland)

Bible Answer:

It will be the church that holds to the gospel.

The Gospel:
I Corinthians 15:3,4 KJV
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Acts 4:10-12 KJV
10 Be it known unto you all...that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead..."
11 This is The Stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become The Head Of The Corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 2:21 KJV
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of The Lord shall be saved.

Much more could be said.
Thank the living God of heaven, many churches hold to these and other fundamental Bible doctrines of the faith!

Our Lord never promoted “sectarianism.”

Sectarianism:
Devoted to, or prejudiced in favor of, some sect.
New World Dictionary

God is not “parochial,” in His view of the church.
This of course does not mean wide acceptance of anyone and anything! What it does mean is that God is in churches throughout this world, that maintain the gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ.

Stated again, our God is not parochial in acceptance of Biblicaly sound churches, despite church names or locations, but definitely parochial in that, belief must be in the gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 12:30 KJV
He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth abroad.

Acts 10:10-16; 34,35 KJV
10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12 Wherein were all manner of four footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him.

Sectarianism:

Old Testament Sectarianism:

Numbers 11:24-29 NLT
24 So Moses went out and reported The Lord’s words to the people. He gathered the seventy elders and stationed them around the Tabernacle.
25 And The Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to Moses. Then He gave the seventy elders the same Spirit that was upon Moses. And when The Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But this never happened again.
26 Two men, Eldad and Medad, had stayed behind in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but they had not gone out to the Tabernacle. Yet The Spirit rested upon them as well, so they prophesied there in the camp.
27 A young man ran and reported to Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”
28 Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ assistant since his youth, protested, “Moses, my master, make them stop!”
29 But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all The Lord’s people were prophets and that The Lord would put His Spirit upon them all!”

Sectarianism, decried by our Lord:

Mark 9:38-40 NLT
38 John said to Jesus, “Teacher, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he wasn’t in our group.”
39 “Don’t stop him!” Jesus said. “No one who performs a miracle in My name will soon be able to speak evil of Me.
40 Anyone who is not against us is for us.

Exclusiveness:

Old Testament:

Genesis 43:32-34 NLT
The waiters served Joseph at his own table, and his brothers were served at a separate table. The Egyptians who ate with Joseph sat at their own table, because Egyptians despise Hebrews and refuse to eat with them.
33 Joseph told each of his brothers where to sit, and to their amazement, he seated them according to age, from oldest to youngest.
34 And Joseph filled their plates with food from his own table, giving Benjamin five times as much as he gave the others. So they feasted and drank freely with him.

New Testament:

Matthew 21:15 KJV
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to The son Of David; they were sore displeased,

Mark 10:13-16 KJV
13 And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them: and His disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer (Permit) the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16 And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.

Tolerance For Others:

Philemon 1:15-17 NLT
15 It seems you lost Onesimus for a little while so that you could have him back forever.
16 He is no longer like a slave to you. He is more than a slave, for he is a beloved brother, especially to me. Now he will mean much more to you, both as a man and as a brother in The Lord.
17 So if you consider me your partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.

Apostle Paul:
Romans 12:3-5 NLT
3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.
4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function,

5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
