Bible Lesson: Answered Prayer: King Jehoahaz Prays For Deliverance.
Bible Lesson: Answered Prayer: King
Jehoahaz Prays For Deliverance.
Subject Of Prayer: Jehoahaz
Prayed For Deliverance From The Syrians.
Bible Text: II Kings 13:1-5
NKJV
II Kings 13:1-5 NKJV
1 In the
twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah,
Jehoahaz the son of Jehu became king over Israel in Samaria, and
reigned seventeen years.
2 And he did
evil in the sight of The Lord, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the
son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin. He did not depart from them.
3 Then the
anger of The Lord was aroused against Israel, and He delivered them
into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad
the son of Hazael, all their days.
4 So Jehoahaz
pleaded with The Lord, and The Lord listened to him; for He saw the
oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
5 Then The Lord
gave Israel a deliverer, so that they escaped from under the hand of
the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as
before.
For Israel, there seemed to be an endless cycle of Blessing,
forgefulness, apostasy, judgment and repentance, and restoration.
King Jehoahaz “did evil in the sight of The Lord, and followed
the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin. He
did not depart from them. (Verse 2)
And with what result?
II Kings 13:3
NKJV
Then the anger
of The Lord was aroused against Israel, and He delivered them into
the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad the
son of Hazael, all their days.
II Kings 13:3
GNT
So The Lord was
angry with Israel, and He allowed King Hazael of Syria and his son
Benhadad to defeat Israel time after time.
QUESTION: May our country suffer and come under judgment of
God, because of the sinful leadership, our countrys leader performs?
ANSWER: Yes! Such surely was the case with one King Jehoahaz,
who “did evil in the sight of The Lord, and followed the sins of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin.”
(Verse 2)
This is one reason why Christian people should pray much, over who
they elect, to any and all public offices!
It wasn't just the King who was under God's judgment, but all the
people as well.
And so what did King Jehoahaz do?
II Kings 13:4
NKJV
4 So Jehoahaz
pleaded with The Lord, and The Lord listened to him; for He
saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed
them.
(Our Lord told Solomon of old...)
II Chronicles
7:14 KJV
If My people,
which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

12 That is why
The Lord says, “Turn to Me now, while there is time. Give Me your
hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
13 Don’t tear
your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return
to The Lord your God, for He is merciful and compassionate, slow to
get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and
not punish.
II Corinthians
7:10 NLT
For the kind of
sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results
in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But
worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
The Lord heard and answered Jehoahaz prayer.
II Kings 13:5
NKJV (Joash/ Jeroboam II)
Then The
Lord gave Israel a deliverer, so that they escaped
from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt
in their tents as before.
The end of Jehoahaz? An idolater till the end, and Israel a vassal entity
of the Syrians.

history."

Deuteronomy
4:27-30 KJV
27 And The Lord
shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in
number among the heathen, whither The Lord shall lead you.
28 And there ye
shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which
neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
29 But if from
thence thou shalt seek The Lord thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou
seek Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30 When thou
art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in
the latter days, if thou turn to The Lord thy God, and shalt be
obedient unto His voice;
31 (For The
Lord thy God is a merciful God;) He will not forsake thee..."
