Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
The Sword Of The Lord, speaks of Divine
Authority, Destruction, Pestilence, Vengeance, and Victory.
Authority:
Revelation 19:11-16 KJV
11 And I saw heaven opened, and
behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful
and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire,
and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no
man knew, but He Himself.
13 And He was clothed with a vesture
dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word Of God.
14 And the armies which were in
heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white
and clean.
15 And out of His mouth goeth a
sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall
rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the
fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And He hath on His vesture and on
His thigh a name written, King Of kings, And Lord Of lords.
Destruction:
Jeremiah 12:10-13 KJV
10
“Many rulers have ravaged My vineyard, trampling down the vines and
turning all its beauty into a barren wilderness.
11 They have made it an empty
wasteland; I hear its mournful cry. The whole land is desolate and no
one even cares.
12 On all the bare hilltops,
destroying armies can be seen. The Sword Of The Lord devours people
from one end of the nation to the other. No one will escape!
13 My people have planted wheat but
are harvesting thorns. They have worn themselves out, but it has done
them no good. They will harvest a crop of shame because of the fierce
anger of The Lord.”
Pestilence:
I Chronicles 21:12-17 KJV
12 Either three years' famine; or
three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that
the sword of thine enemies
overtaketh thee; or else three days The Sword Of The Lord, even the
pestilence, in the land, and The Angel Of The Lord destroying
throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself
what word I shall bring again to Him that sent me.
13 And David said unto Gad, I am in
a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of The Lord; for very
great are His mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 So The Lord sent pestilence upon
Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 And God sent an angel unto
Jerusalem to destroy it: and as He was destroying, The Lord beheld,
and He repented Him of the evil, and said to The Angel that
destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And The Angel Of The
Lord stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 And David lifted up his eyes, and
saw The Angel Of The Lord stand between the earth and the heaven,
having a drawn sword in His hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then
David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell
upon their faces.
17 And David said unto God, Is it
not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that
have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have
they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and
on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be
plagued.
Vengeance:
Deuteronomy 32:39-43 KJV
39 See now that I, even I, am He,
and there is no god with Me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I
heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of My hand.
40 For I lift up My hand to heaven,
and say, I live for ever.
41 If I whet my glittering sword,
and Mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to Mine
enemies, and will reward them that hate Me.
42 I will make Mine arrows drunk
with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood
of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon
the enemy.
43 Rejoice, O ye nations, with His
people: for He will avenge the blood of His servants, and will render
vengeance to His adversaries, and will be merciful unto His land, and
to His people.
Victory:
Joshua 5:13-15 KJV
13 And
it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his
eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood A Man over against him with
His sword drawn in His hand: and Joshua went unto Him, and said unto
Him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And He said, Nay; but as Captain
Of The Host Of The Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to
the earth, and did worship, and said unto Him, What saith my Lord
unto His servant?
15 And The Captain Of The Lord's
Host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the
place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
Joshua 6:1,2 KJV
1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up
because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
2 And The Lord said unto Joshua,
See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and
the mighty men of valor.
The Captain Of The
Lord Of Hosts, stood before Joshua, (The preincarnate -Theophany - of
The Lord Jesus Christ.), and his battle against Jericho, would be
victorious!
How important it
is to have The Lord on our side.
I John 4:4 KJV
Ye are of God, little children, and
have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he
that is in the world.
II Corinthians
10:3-5 KJV
3 For though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong
holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Hebrews 4:12 KJV
(The sword, a weapon of both defense and offense.)
For The Word Of God is quick, and
powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Ephesians
6:10-18 KJV
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong
in The Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God,
that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the
rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in
high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole
armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your
loins girt about with Truth, and having on the breastplate of
righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the
preparation of The Gospel Of Peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of
faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of
the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation,
and The sword Of The Spirit, which is The Word Of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer
and supplication in The Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints;
I Timothy
6:11,12 KJV
11 But thou, O man of God...follow
after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith,
lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called..."
