Bible Text:
Matthew 5:38-48 KJV
38 Ye have heard that it hath been
said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye
resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right
cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at
the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee
to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee,
and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been
said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your
enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you,
and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of
your Father which is in heaven: for He maketh His sun to rise on
the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the
unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love
you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren
only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even
as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Matthew 22:35-40
KJV
35 Then one of them, which was a
lawyer, asked Him a question, tempting Him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great
commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt
love The Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and
with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great
commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang
all the law and the prophets.
Luke 6:27-40 KJV
27 But I say unto you which hear,
Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28 Bless them that curse you,
and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on
the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away
thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.
30 Give to every man that asketh of
thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
31 And as ye would that men should
do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 For if ye love them which love
you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good to them which
do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the
same.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye
hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to
sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and
do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward
shall be great, and ye shall be the children of The Highest: for He
is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful,
as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall
not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned:
forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38 Give, and it shall be
given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and
running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same
measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
39 And he spake a parable unto them,
Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the
ditch?
40 The disciple is not above his
master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
Luke 23:33,34
KJV
33 And when they were come to the
place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the
malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father,
forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted His
raiment, and cast lots.
Romans 12:19-21
NLT
19 Dear friends, never take revenge.
Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,
“I will take revenge; I will pay
them back,” says The Lord.
20 Instead, “If your enemies are
hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something
to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on
their heads.”
21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but
conquer evil by doing good.
As Christians, we
are in training. We are to follow the examples our Master has set
before us.
In our daily
course, we will find that our strength will prove insufficient, but
we are promised by our Commander and Chief, that if we but wait upon
Him.....
Psalm 27:14 KJV
Wait on The Lord: be of good
courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on
The Lord.
Isaiah 40:31 KJV
But they that wait upon The Lord
shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as
eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and
not faint.
Isaiah 41:10 KJV
Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the
right hand of My righteousness.
II Corinthians
3:18 KJV
But we all, with open face beholding
as in a glass the glory of The Lord, are changed into the same
image from glory to glory, even as by The Spirit Of The Lord.
Ephesians 3:16
KJV
That He would grant you, according
to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by
His Spirit in the inner man;
Philippians 1:6
KJV
Being confident of this very thing,
that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the
day of Jesus Christ:
Hebrews 12:1-3

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded
by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip
off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so
easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has
set before us.
2 We do this by keeping our eyes on
Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of
the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame.
Now He is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
3 Think of all the hostility He
endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give
up.
