Bible Answer:
Bible Text: (Be sure to read the
whole 12th Chapter of Exodus.)
Exodus 12:29-36 KJV (Exodus 3:21,22/
11:2,3)
29 And it came to pass, that at
midnight The Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from
the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of
the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night,
he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a
great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one
dead.
31 And he called for Moses and Aaron
by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people,
both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve The Lord, as ye
have said.
32 Also take your flocks and your
herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.
33 And the Egyptians were urgent
upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste;
for they said, We be all dead men.
34 And the people took their dough
before it was leavened, their kneading troughs being bound up in
their clothes upon their shoulders.
35 And the children of Israel did
according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians
jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
36 And The Lord gave the people
favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such
things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
After Centuries of
bondage to the Egyptians, the day of deliverance was at hand.
God sent the
Egyptians 10 plagues to convince them to let His people go.

Death of the firstborn
The death angel was
about to march through all of Egypt. The passover, kept by God's
people, with the blood of The Lamb sprinkled on their door posts,
meant that they would live, all other households the first born would
die.
After the death
angel had done his work, Pharaoh was now ready to let the people of
God, go. But before they would go...
35 And the children of Israel did
according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed* of the Egyptians
jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
36 And The Lord gave the people
favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such
things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
*Borrowed-Hebrew;
Shiyah (Shaw-al): To request; to demand: ask, beg, borrow, demand,
desire, request.
“You see pastor,
God wants his people to be wealthy, and here is the proof of that”
Not so fast,....
Israel's wealth was
for a reason:
In the gospels our
Lord stated:
Luke 10:7 KJV
"... for the laborer is worthy
of his hire..."
Reasons for
Israel's wealth from the Egyptians:
Psalm
105:37,38 NLT
37 The Lord brought His people out of Egypt, loaded with
silver and gold; and not one among
the tribes of Israel even stumbled.
38 Egypt was glad when they were gone, for they feared
them greatly.
4. Exodus
25:1-9 NLT (Wealth confiscated from the Egyptians, was for
the future construction of the
Tabernacle.)
1 The
Lord said to Moses,
2
“Tell the people of Israel to bring Me their sacred offerings.
Accept the contributions from
all
whose hearts are moved to offer them.
3
Here is a list of sacred offerings you may accept from them: gold,
silver, and bronze;
4
blue, purple, and scarlet thread; fine linen and goat hair for cloth;
5
tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather; acacia wood;
6
olive oil for the lamps; spices for the anointing oil and the
fragrant incense;
7
onyx stones, and other gemstones to be set in the ephod and the
priest’s chest piece.
8
“Have the people of Israel build Me a holy sanctuary so I can live
among them.
9 You
must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to
the pattern I will
show you.
Did the Israelites,
rob the Egyptians, no they requested all their wealth from them, and
they (the Egyptians) being so filled with fear, gladly gave them
whatever they wanted, just to seem them leave.
Did the Israelites
have the right to do this, Yes, for it was the prophesied will of
God.
God's prophetic
Truth:
Genesis 15:13,14
NLT (God's promise to Abraham.)
13 Then The Lord said to Abram, “You
can be sure that your descendants will be strangers in a foreign
land, where they will be oppressed as slaves for 400 years.
14 But I will punish the nation that
enslaves them, and in the end they will come away with great
wealth.
Exodus 3:19-22
NLT (God's promise to Moses.)
19 “But I know that the king of
Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand forces him.
20 So I will raise My hand and
strike the Egyptians, performing all kinds of miracles among them.
Then at last he will let you go.
21 And I will cause the Egyptians
to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you
will not leave empty-handed.
22 Every Israelite woman will ask
for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian
neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress
your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their
wealth.”
All right TBPL partners, dust that verse off on the flyleaf of your
