Priorities Versus Provisions
Bible Questions Answered:
“How is it that we are to “take no
thought for your life”. Food does not just appear or clothing. So
what could this possibly have meaning to?”

Bible Answer:
Bible Text:
Luke 12:33-34 KJV
22 And He said unto His disciples,
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life,
what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23 The life is more than meat, and
the body is more than raiment.
24 Consider the ravens: for
they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn;
and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
25 And which of you with taking
thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26 If ye then be not able to do that
thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
27 Consider the lilies how
they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that
Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 If then God so clothe the
grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into
the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29 And seek not ye what ye shall
eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the
nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have
need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of
God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is
your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms;
provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens
that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth
corrupteth.
34 For where your treasure is, there
will your heart be also.
Yes, Jesus said
“For...your Father knoweth that ye have need of these
things.”
Food, clothing,
housing, our Father in heaven, knows only too well that we need
these things.
He also from the
beginning called and blessed man to work.
Genesis 2:15 KJV
And The Lord God took the man, and
put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Apostle Paul speaks
about work:
Ephesians 4:28
KJV
"...let him labor, working with
his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him
that needeth.
II Thessalonians
3:12 KJV
Now...we command and exhort by our
Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own
bread.
That man should be
involved with provision for himself, his family and or
loved ones is only right.
But our Lord was
not here addressing the subject of provision, but that of ones,
priorities in life.
Oh how our enemy
wishes to distract man to either that of “total neglect,”
concerning the things of God, or to that of “total fanaticism.”
Anywhere but to the center of our God's will
for our lives.
Matthew 7:13,14
KJV
13 Enter ye in at The Strait Gate:
for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to
destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because Strait is The Gate, and
Narrow is The Way, which leadeth unto Life, and few there be that
find it.
Yes, we should
labor for our earthly provisions, having faith that God, will give us
strength and health to provide for what we need.
But in all our
labor, let us “not,” insult The Living God, by thinking
that our supply rests on our selves alone, or that earthly provision is all that is needed.
Luke 12:16-21
KJV
16 And He spake a parable unto them,
saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself,
saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my
fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I
will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow
all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul,
thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat,
drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool,
this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those
things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up
treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Mark 8:36 KJV
For what shall it
profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own
soul?
And so, our Lord,
amidst all our labor and providing, warns us, in life what are real priorities?
Luke 12:23 KJV
"... life is more than meat, and the
body is more than raiment.
The ravens, the
lilies and the grass of the field preach to us, but our ears are to
heavy to hear.
So, The God of all
creation shouts it, so that there will be no mistake!
31 “...Seek ye
the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 “...It is your Father's good
pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms;
provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens
that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth
corrupteth.
34 For where your treasure is, there
will your heart be also.
Matthew 6:33,34
KJV
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of
God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto
you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
What are our
priorities? Eroding earthly wealth?
I Timothy 6:6-12
KJV
6 But Godliness with contentment is
great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this
world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us
be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall
into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,
which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root
of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the
faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee
these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love,
patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith,
lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast
professed a good profession before many witnesses.
In this late hour friend, make sure,
your priorities are for the kingdom of heaven! Make doubly sure your
real treasures are.....
Luke 12:33,34
KJV
33... treasure in the heavens that
faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34 For where your treasure is, there
will your heart be also.
