Bible Questions Answered: Tithing

Bible Questions Answered: Tithing
I do not believe Christian people are commanded to tithe, as this was an Old Testament custom, and we are not under the law!
Harold P./ Alencon, France

Bible Answer:
Christians today are “not,” under the (Jewish) law.

Galatians 3:21-25 NLT
21 ...If the law could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying it.
22 But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God's promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.
23 Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.
24 Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.
25 And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.

Galatians 5:1 KJV ”Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

Galatians 6:14 KJV “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”

No we are not under the law.
But did Christ have anything to say about Tithing? ? ?

Yes, He did!

Matthew 23:23 NLT “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith.
You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.”

Luke 11:42 NLT “What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.”

Not under the law, and yet Jesus Christ said....”You should Tithe, yes”
If Jesus said it, Christians should do it!

Invariably, those who try their best to find some loop hole, for not tithing, are those who love their money and who live for it.

Exodus 20:3 KJV "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Ecclesiastes 5:10 KJVHe that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.”

I Timothy 6:9-11 KJV
[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[
10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
[
11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
