New Names

God in times past changed (or allowed to be changed) the names of His servants:

He changed the name of Abram (Abram: High Father) to Abraham (Father of a multitude.)

Genesis 17:5 KJV
Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

He changed the namme of Jacob (Heel Catcher, Supplanter) to Israel (He will rule as God).

Genesis 32:8 KJV
And He said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

He changed the name of Joseph (Let Him Add), to Zaphnath-paaneah (The man to whom mysteries are revealed.)

Genesis 41;45 KJV
And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah..."

He changed the name of Gideon (Warrior), to Jerubbaal (Contender with Baal, a name given to Gideon because he destroyed Baal altars and its worship).
