Baptized Into His Death

Bible Questions Answered:
“We are baptized into Jesus death, I do not understand that....”
Malea/ Makati City, Philippines

Bible Answer:
Bible Text:

Romans 6:3-5 KJV
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?
4 Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of The Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection:

Romans 6:3-5 NLT
3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined Him in His death?
4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of The Father, now we also may live new lives.
5 Since we have been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised to life as He was.

Justification:
Justification is the act of The Son Of God, giving up, His life freely upon the cross and taking upon Himself punishment for the sins of the world. And that those who believe, trust and, live for Him, might be free from the guilt and bondage of sin, through His sacrifice.

II Corinthians 5:21 KJV
For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

Baptism:
Is a spiritual picture, of what has happened and what is happening in the life of someone who has turned to The Lord Jesus, as their Savior.

Christ died, was buried, and rose up from the dead, and lives in newness of life at the right hand of The Father in heaven.

Baptism, the act itself, does not save anyone- it is a representative act (An act of confession.) of what has taken place in the life of someone coming to baptism.

Romans 10:10 KJV
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Baptism signifies that one is a believer, and has turned to The Lord Jesus Christ, repenting of sin, and receiving Him as The Savior!

The Spiritual Picture Of Baptism:
At the cross, Christ died for our sins, and our bondage to sin, died on that cross, with Him.
When we receive Him, we have the liberty of being free from the guilt, and the bondage to sin.

Now, Christ died and was buried.
In the waters of baptism (immersion - baptizo), when we went under those waters, it spoke of death.

For the Christian, it represents the death to the old nature of willful sin and its longings.
In submersion into the waters of , “ baptism, we joined Him in His death (Romans 6:3 NLT)

Yes, Christ, died, and was buried, but thank God, He arose from the dead!

In Baptism, going under the water, means death (we joined Him in His death Romans 6:3 NLT), but when the believer comes out of the baptismal waters, he rises (spiritually) into New Spiritual Life, Christ's victorious, over coming life!

I Corinthians 15:57 KJV
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Colossians 2:12 NLT
For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.

So, we not only join The Lord Jesus in His death and, burial, but praise God, in His resurrection, to newness of life as well!

Romans 6:1-23 KJV
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him.
10 For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 7:6 KJV
But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in The Spirit.
