Testament: Twenty Blessed Loaves Feed One Hundred People.
Occasion: Miraculous Supply Of
Food.
Location: Gilgal.
Bible Text:
II Kings 4:42-44 NLT
42 One day a man from Baal-shalishah
brought the man of God (Elisha) a sack of fresh grain and twenty
loaves of barley bread made from the first grain of his harvest.
Elisha said, “Give it to the people so they can eat.”
43 “What?” his servant
exclaimed. “Feed a hundred people with only this?” But Elisha
repeated, “Give it to the people so they can eat, for this is what
The Lord says: Everyone will eat, and there will even be some left
over!”
44 And when they gave it to the
people, there was plenty for all and some left over, just as The Lord
had promised.
One day a man from
Baal-shalishah brought the man of God (Elisha) a sack of fresh grain
and twenty loaves of barley bread made from the first grain of his
harvest.
It was the duty of the Jews to bring the first fruits of harvest to
the priest, this covenant meant that the rest of their crops would be blessed. The man from Baal-shalishah, presented his offering to
Elisha, the man of God.
Jesus Christ, said that we should tithe!
Matthew 23:23,24
NLT (Jesus)
23 “What
sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees.
Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from
your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the
law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes,
but do not neglect the more important things.
24 Blind
guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a
gnat, but you swallow a camel!
Luke 11:42 NLT (Jesus)
“What sorrow
awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest
income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of
God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more
important things.
God has blessed us with harvests of good health, jobs, housing,
wealth, to buy food, and clothing, etc.
Psalm 68:19 KJV
Blessed be The
Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our
salvation. Selah.
And it is our responsibility to bless God's church and His people,
with our gifts of faithfulness and love!
Luke 6:38 KJV (Jesus)
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your
bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be
measured to you again.
One soon coming day, our Lord will show us what our faithful giving
has done, and its reward!
Do you have any bread?
John 6:28-51 KJV
28 Then said
they unto Him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus
answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe
on Him whom He hath sent.
30 They said
therefore unto Him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and
believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers
did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread
from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus
said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not
that bread from heaven; but My Father giveth you The True Bread from
heaven.
33 For The
Bread Of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life
unto the world.
34 Then said
they unto Him, Lord, evermore give us this Bread.
35 And Jesus
said unto them, I am The Bread Of Life: he that cometh to Me shall
never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst.
36 But I said
unto you, That ye also have seen Me, and believe not.
37 All that the
Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will
in no wise cast out.
38 For I came
down from heaven, not to do Mine own will, but the will of Him that
sent Me.
39 And this is
The Father's will which hath sent Me, that of all which He hath given
Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last
day.
40 And this is
the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth The Son, and
believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up
at the last day.
41 The Jews
then murmured at Him, because He said, I am The Bread which came down
from heaven.
42 And they
said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother
we know? how is it then that He saith, I came down from heaven?
43 Jesus
therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can
come to Me, except The Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will
raise him up at the last day.
45 It is
written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every
man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of The Father, cometh
unto Me.
46 Not that any
man hath seen The Father, save He which is of God, He hath seen The
Father.
47 Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting
life.
48 I am that
Bread Of Life.
49 Your fathers
did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is The
Bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and
not die.
51 I am The
Living Bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this
Bread, he shall live for ever:
and The Bread
that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world.
As a Christian, you have The Bread Of Life!
Have you given of your Bread? To the (spiritually) starving, in time
of famine?
Matthew 28:18-20
NLT
18 Jesus came
and told His disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven
and on earth.
19 Therefore,
go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name
of The Father and The Son and The Holy
Spirit.
20 Teach these
new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure
of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Mark 16:15 KJV
And He said
unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature.
Even the smallest gift to The Lord, will be rewarded!
Mark 9:41 NLT
If anyone gives
you even a cup of water because you belong to The Messiah, I tell you
The Truth, that person will surely be rewarded.
I Corinthians
15:58 NLT
So, my dear
brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work
enthusiastically for The Lord, for you know that nothing you do for
The Lord is ever useless.
Hebrews 6:10,11
NLT
10 For God is
not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him and
how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers, as
you still do.
11 Our great
desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts,
in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.
And ...Elisha said, “Give it to the people so they can eat.”
“What?”
his servant exclaimed (Elisha's servant Gehazi). “Feed a hundred
people with only this?”
But Elisha
repeated, “Give it to the people so they can eat, for this is what
The Lord says: Everyone will eat, and there will even be some left
over!”
Friends, the tests of life, will see to whether or not we believe the
Word Of The Lord, and have faith!
Elisha believed The Lord, and The Lord, honored his faith.
And when
they gave it to the people, there was plenty for all and some left
over, just as The Lord had promised.
Romans 10:17 KJV
So then faith
cometh by hearing, and hearing by The Word Of God.
This is why reading The Word, is so important. Important, because it
builds our faith!
Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without
faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must
believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently
seek Him.
John 9:4 KJV
I must work the
works of Him that sent Me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no
man can work.
Matthew 5:42 KJV
Give to him
that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not
thou away.
Luke 6:30 KJV
Give to every
man that asketh of thee..."
Romans 12:20 KJV
Therefore if
thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink..."
I Peter 3:15 KJV
But sanctify
The Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give (of The Bread Of Life) an answer to
every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with
meekness and fear:
