Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Old Testament: Miracle Spring Of Water At Lehi
Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Old
Testament: Miracle Spring Of
Water At Lehi.
Occasion: To Quench The Thirst
Of Samson.
Location: Lehi.
Bible Text: Judges 15:11-20 NLT
(Be sure to read the whole chapter.)
11 So 3,000 men of Judah went down
to get Samson at the cave in the rock of Etam. They said to Samson,
“Don’t you realize the Philistines rule over us? What are you
doing to us?”
But Samson replied, “I only did to
them what they did to me.”
12 But the men of Judah told him,
“We have come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines.”
“All right,” Samson said. “But
promise that you won’t kill me yourselves.”
13 “We will only tie you up and
hand you over to the Philistines,” they replied. “We won’t kill
you.” So they tied him up with two new ropes and brought him up
from the rock.
14 As Samson arrived at Lehi, the
Philistines came shouting in triumph. But The Spirit Of The Lord came
powerfully upon Samson, and he snapped the ropes on his arms as if
they were burnt strands of flax, and they fell from his wrists.
15 Then he found the jawbone of a
recently killed donkey. He picked it up and killed 1,000 Philistines
with it.
16 Then Samson said, “With the
jawbone of a donkey, I’ve piled them in heaps! With the jawbone of
a donkey, I’ve killed a thousand men!”
17 When he finished his boasting, he
threw away the jawbone; and the place was named Jawbone Hill.
18 Samson was now very thirsty,
and he cried out to the Lord, “You have accomplished this great
victory by the strength of your servant. Must I now die of thirst and
fall into the hands of these pagans?”
19 So God caused water to gush out
of a hollow in the ground at Lehi, and Samson was revived as he
drank. Then he named that place “The Spring of the One Who Cried
Out,” and it is still in Lehi to this day.
20 Samson judged Israel for twenty
years during the period when the Philistines dominated the land.
Samson had many
dealings with the Philistines, and none good, as they were the enemy
of Israel.
And Samson, was not
to intermarry with them, but he did.
Deuteronomy
7;1-4 KJV
1 When the Lord thy God shall bring
thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast
out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and
the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the
Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than
thou;
2 And when The Lord thy God shall
deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy
them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto
them:
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages
with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his
daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
4 For they will turn away thy son
from following Me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger
of The Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
Samson, was a
law unto himself. He choose a wife from among the Philistines.
How well Solomon
wrote....
Proverbs 8:36
KJV
But he that sinneth against Me
wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate Me love death.
Poor choices, would
haunt Samson.
Samson married a
Philistine wife, and she turned out to be unfaithful to him. His
father in law, then married off his daughter to another man, a choice
friend of Samson's.
In his anger
against the Philistines, he burned their crops of corn and grain,
with the fields of olives and grapes.
The Philistines in
anger against Samson, killed the woman and the father.
Angered again, over
the Philistines, Samson went out and killed many of them.
And in retaliation,
the Philistines moved into Judah to oppress God's people.
They explained
their actions, by saying that it was because of all the men Samson had killed among the
Philistines.
Judges 15:11-13

from the rock.
This was the first,
but not to be the last time Samson would be bound by cords.
What was it our
Savior said....
Matthew 5:38-48
NLT (Jesus teaches about enemies and revenge.)
38 “You have heard the law that
says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and
a tooth for a tooth.’
39 But I say, do not resist an evil
person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other
cheek also.
40 If you are sued in court and your
shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too.
41 If a soldier demands that you
carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles.
42 Give to those who ask, and don’t
turn away from those who want to borrow.
43 “You have heard the law that
says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy.
44 But I say, love your enemies!
Pray for those who persecute you!
45 In that way, you will be acting
as true children of your Father in heaven. For He gives His sunlight
to both the evil and the good, and He sends rain on the just and the
unjust alike.
46 If you love only those who love
you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do
that much.
47 If you are kind only to your
friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that.
48 But you are to be perfect, even
as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Judges 15:14 NLT
As Samson arrived at Lehi, the
Philistines came shouting in triumph. But The Spirit Of The Lord came
powerfully upon Samson, and he snapped the ropes on his arms as if
they were burnt strands of flax, and they fell from his wrists.
Are you bound today, in sinful cords, you have helped to weave
yourself?
God delivers those who are His, when they call upon His name!
Job 5:19 KJV
He shall
deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch
thee.
Psalm 91:1-16
NLT
1 Those who
live in the shelter of The Most High will find rest in the shadow of
The Almighty.
2 This I
declare about The Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he
is my God, and I trust Him.
3 For He will
rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover
you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His
faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be
afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the
day.
6 Do not dread
the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at
midday.
7 Though a
thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open
your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.
9 If you make
The Lord your refuge, if you make The Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will
conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
11 For He will
order His angels to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will
hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a
stone.
13 You will
trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and
serpents under your feet!
14 The Lord
says, “I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who
trust in My name.
15 When they
call on Me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will
rescue and honor them.
16 I will
reward them with a long life and give them My salvation.”
I Corinthians
10:13 KJV
There hath no
temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is
faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are
able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye
may be able to bear it.
II Timothy 4:18
KJV
And The Lord
shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto His
heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
II Peter 2:9 NLT
"... The
Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while
keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.
Judges 15:15-17

Victory, spiritual victory belongs to the people of God!
Psalm 44:4,5 KJV
4 Thou art my
King, O God...
5 Through thee
will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them
under that rise up against us.
Luke 10:18,19
KJV
18 “Yes,”
He told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning*!
19 Look, I have
given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk
among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.
*Lightning: Greek, Astrape (As-trap-ay):
Lightning; bright shining.
Romans 8:35,37
KJV
35 Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37 Nay, in all
these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
I John 5:4 KJV
For whatsoever
is born of God over cometh the world: and this is the victory that
over cometh the world, even our faith.
Revelation
15:2-4 KJV
2 And I saw as
it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten
the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark,
and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having
the harps of God.
3 And they sing
the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of The Lamb,
saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just
and true are thy ways, thou King Of Saints.
4 Who shall not
fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for
all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are
made manifest.
Judges 15:18-20

*En-hakkore
(Well of him that cried out.)
Samson, quenched his thirst, because his God always listened, and
always cared.
And He cares for the spiritually thirsty today!
I Peter 5:7 KJV

Isaiah 12:2,3

with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
Jeremiah 2:13
KJV
For My people
have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me The Fountain Of
Living Waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can
hold no water.
John 4:10,14 KJV (Jesus and the Samaritan Woman at the well.)
10 Jesus
answered and said unto her, If thou knewest The Gift Of God, and who
it is that saith to thee, Give Me to drink; thou wouldest have asked
of Him, and He would have given thee Living Water.
14 But
whosoever drinketh of The Water that I shall give him shall never
thirst; but The Water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of
water springing up into everlasting life.
John 7:37-39 NLT
37 On the last
day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the
crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me!
38 Anyone who
believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare,
‘Rivers of Living Water will flow from his heart.’”
39 (When He
said “living water,” He was speaking of The Spirit, who would be
given to everyone believing in Him..."
