Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus; Feeding Of The Four Thousand

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus; Feeding Of The Four Thousand.

Bible Text:
Mark 8:1-10 KJV (Matthew 15:32-39 KJV)
1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples unto Him, and saith unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with Me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4 And His disciples answered Him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5 And He asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6 And He commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and He took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to His disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7 And they had a few small fishes: and He blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and He sent them away.
10 And straightway He entered into a ship with His disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

OK, for some, this is a surprise, Yes, Jesus did feed a multitude of people more than once!

The feeding of the 5,000 took place at Bethsaida, North East of the Sea of Galilee, its terrain was that of grasslands.
They had 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, and the remnants were 12 baskets full.

The feeding of the 4,000 took place at Decapolis, 10-15 miles South East Galilee, desert, no grasslands.
They had 7 loaves of bread, a few small fish, and the remnants were 7 baskets full.

Mark 8:1-3 KJV
1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples unto Him, and saith unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with Me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

Jesus, (Today our HEAVENLY HIGH PRIEST), said “ I have compassion on the multitude,”

Hebrews 13:8 KJV
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Hebrews 4:14-16 NLT
14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.
15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin.
16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

I Peter 5:7 KJV
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

The one who cares for you, is the God who created you, and if He cared for humanity 2,000 years ago, He is still caring for us all yet today!

Mark 8:4,5 KJV
4 And His disciples answered Him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5 And He asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

How typical of humanity, without answers.
Jesus asks, what do you have?
Our Lord can use whatever we have, if we willingly yield it to Him, to multiply it, to not only bless ourselves, but others as well.

Luke 6:38 KJV
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Mark 8:6,7 KJV
6 And He commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and He took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to His disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7 And they had a few small fishes: and He blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

Our Lord, prayed, giving thanks before eating.

Matthew 15:36 KJV
And He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks..."

Dear Christian, do you pray over your food at home, at the restaurant, at a friends house, etc.
Or are you a closet Christian?

Why we pray.

I Timothy 4:4,5 KJV
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Did you know?

Deuteronomy 8:10 KJV
When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which He hath given thee.

Mark 8:8-10 KJV
8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and He sent them away.
10 And straightway He entered into a ship with His disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

Our Lord, never sends the hungry, away, unfilled!

Psalm 78:29 KJV (Israelites)
So they did eat, and were well filled: for He gave them their own desire;

Matthew 5:6 KJV
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Luke 1:53 KJV
He hath filled the hungry with good things..."

Acts 2:4 KJV
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost..."

Jesus fed the four thousand, and He will meet our needs today as well,
as we call upon Him in faith.

Luke 12:30 KJV
"...your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things."

Philippians 4:19 KJV
But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
