Bible Lesson: The Miracles Of Jesus; Deaf And Dumb Man Healed

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus; Deaf And Dumb Man Healed.

Bible Location: Decapolis.

Bible Text:

Mark 7:31-37 KJV
31 And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, He came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
32 And they bring unto Him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in His speech; and they beseech Him to put His hand upon him.
33 And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers into his ears, and He spit, and touched his tongue;
34 And looking up to heaven, He sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
35 And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
36 And He charged them that they should tell no man: but the more He charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: He maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

Mark 7:31-37 NLT
31 Jesus left Tyre and went up to Sidon before going back to the Sea of Galilee and the region of the Ten Towns.
32 A deaf man with a speech impediment was brought to Him, and the people begged Jesus to lay His hands on the man to heal him.
33 Jesus led him away from the crowd so they could be alone. He put His fingers into the man’s ears. Then, spitting on his own fingers, He touched the man’s tongue.
34 Looking up to heaven, He sighed and said, “Ephphatha,” which means, “Be opened!”
35 Instantly the man could hear perfectly, and his tongue was freed so he could speak plainly!
36 Jesus told the crowd not to tell anyone, but the more He told them not to, the more they spread the news.
37 They were completely amazed and said again and again, “Everything He does is wonderful. He even makes the deaf to hear and gives speech to those who cannot speak.”

Mark 7:31 KJV
And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, He came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

Perhaps one of the longest journeys our Lord had taken with His disciples, and no doubt He took this long route to southern Galilee to be alone with His men, to instruct them.

Mark 7:32 KJV
And they bring unto Him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in His speech; and they beseech Him to put His hand upon him.

What a picture of mankind. We are so good at learning all the preparations, and so poor when it comes to the power.

How well they knew that Jesus placed His hands on an individual to heal them, but that was all they had learned.

Mark 9:17-19 NLT
17 One of the men in the crowd spoke up and said, “Teacher, I brought my son so you could heal him. He is possessed by an evil spirit that won’t let him talk.
18 And whenever this spirit seizes him, it throws him violently to the ground. Then he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid. So I asked your disciples to cast out the evil spirit, but they couldn’t do it.”
19 Jesus said to them, “You faithless people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to Me.”

No doubt the dear disciples, went through the Sunday Morning Motions, with no effect.
Men of God, we can claim all the learning and divinity of this world, but if we are deficient when it comes to having power with God, then “his bishoprick let another take.”
The disciples were not men of learning, far from it, but they were men of undying commitment.

The needs of the people are real, and real must be our dedication to the one who has called us to
“loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free,, and that ye break every yoke.”

Matthew 17:19-21 KJV
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Psalm 35:13,14 KJV
13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

Mark 7:33 KJV
And He took him aside from the multitude,....

In this verse, please notice the empathy of our Lord, “He took him.”
Was that your church last Sunday?
He reached out to him, to help him.

Hebrews 4:15,16 KJV
15 For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Notice, He didn't say, “why you have need of a doctor, what are you doing coming to Me?”
That the man was deaf and dumb, spoke volumes to those of rational thinking.
Certainly this was not how God created him, nor again, God's will for him.
Then of necessity, it was without doubt, the work of the enemy.

John 10:10 KJV
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Acts 10:38 KJV
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.

I John 3:8 KJV
"... For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."

Mark 7:33-35 KJV
33... and put His fingers into his ears, and He spit, and touched his tongue;
34 And looking up to heaven, He sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
35 And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.

Our Lord, put His fingers in the man's ears, and commanded that they be opened. Then He spit on his fingers and touched the mans tongue, and the man could both hear and speak.

This is the will of the Father today, that His leaders be not only men of the parchment, but of the power.

Isaiah 61:1 KJV (Our Lord: Luke 4:18)
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me; because the LORD hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

John 13:15 JV
"For I have given you an example..."

Luke 10:19 KJV
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Mark 16:15-20 KJV
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them (In Harms way, but not by design! Acts 28:1-6); they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.
Amen.

Acts 1:7,8 (Jesus)
7 And He said unto them...
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2:38,39 KJV
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

Mark 7:36,37 KJV
36 And He charged them that they should tell no man: but the more He charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: He maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

He hath done all things well:

And our God, still is delivering and blessing His people today, through His servants.

Mark 11:22 KJV
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

John 14:12-14 KJV
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it.

Acts 3:6 KJV
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
