Bible Questions Answered:
“What was Jesus saying by -”he that is washed needeth not save to wash  his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all ?”

Bible Answer:

Bible Text:
John 13:10 KJV
Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

John 13:10 NLT
Jesus replied, “A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet, to be entirely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not all of you.” (Reference to Judas.)

A picture of salvation.  At a public bath, people would wash their whole body. But as they traveled, their feet would become dirty, yet their body was clean, so once at their destination, they would wash only their feet.

When we come to the Lord Jesus, we are washed by Him, and we are clean from every sin. But we are not yet fully sanctified, and we error from time to time, we sin, and so we need to daily be cleansed from it.

I John 3:2 KJV (Complete Sanctification-not yet.)
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

Psalm 51:1-4 KJV
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

I John 1:8-10 KJV
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts  (sins), as we forgive our debtors (Those who sin against us.).
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Hebrews 12:1 KJV
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
