Dove-At Christs Baptism-Gods Symbol Of Acceptance And Blessing

Bible Questions Answered:
“Why did a dove come upon Jesus at baptism?”
Andres/ Bogota, Columbia South America

Bible Answer:

The dove was a symbol of all that is pure, gentle and innocent. The Holy Spirit, showed in visible form the true spiritual nature of Jesus, who was God's ETERNAL Son, (Micah 5:2/ John 1:1/ 5:58/17:5,24/ Hebrews 7:3/ Revelation 22:13) come into our world for the purpose of being God's “perfect, spotless,” sacrificial Lamb.

Matthew 10:16 KJV
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

John 1:29 KJV
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

II Corinthians 5:21 NLT
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Now it is very important that we understand one thing! The Holy Spirit, was always one with Jesus, the ETERNAL Son of God, the appearance of the Dove, at His baptism meant, that Jesus had now set apart His life for ministry, being the promised Messiah. And that His ministry was called and accepted of God, was testified to by the heavenly voice that stated....

Matthew 3:16,17 KJV
16 And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a Dove, and lighting upon Him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

The Dove Like Nature Of Our Saviour:

Isaiah 53:7 KJV
He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a Lamb to the slaughter, and as a Sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.

Matthew 11:29 KJV
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

II Corinthians 5:21 NLT
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

II Corinthians 8:9 KJV
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.

II Corinthians 10:1 NLT
" Now I, Paul, appeal to you with the gentleness and kindness of Christ..."

Philippians 2:5-11 KJV
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Hebrews 4:15 NLT
This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

Hebrew 5:8 KJV
Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered;

Hebrews 7:23-26 NLT
23 There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office.
24 But because Jesus lives forever, His Priesthood lasts forever.
25 Therefore He is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through Him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
26 He is the kind of High Priest we need because He is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.

Hebrews 9:13,14 NLT
13 Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity.
14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered Himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

I Peter 1:18,19 KJV
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot:

I Peter 2:21-23 KJV
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth:
23 Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously:

I John 3:5 KJV
And ye know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.
