Worship-True

Bible Questions Answered:
“What does “sin lieth at the door” refer to?”
Godiva/ Sao Paulo, Brazil

Bible Answer:

Bible Text:
Genesis 4:1-8 KJV
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the first lings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

This is the story of Cain and his brother Abel.
The worship of Abel was accepted by the Lord, while the worship of Cain, was not!

What a wonderful place pastor, to alert you to the fact that “not-all,” worship is acceptable to the Lord!
How very careful we must be!

True worship, draws attention to “none-other,” than Jesus Christ!
True worship, draws attention to “none-other,” than Jesus Christ!

What, dear worship leader would change in your worship service if that agenda was followed?

No costumes, no flashy clothes, no loud beating rhythms, no singers under the spotlight, no prized musicians performing before the camera, no show, or amateur performances.

“Well,  that's absolutely crazy!”
Actually, that's how it used to be in the church years ago.
Choirs, were  not before a camera, there were in a hidden loft to the side or rear of the sanctuary.
Organs, were oft to the side of the sanctuary.

How far we have gone.
True worship, true worship, brings any and all attention to only one individual, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Cains worship, was “not, right!”
Yes he worshiped sincerely, but he was sincerely “wrong.”

Yes the Lord gave him warning.
Genesis 4:6 KJV
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Doesn't God like farmers?
He surely does, Adam, Cains father had been a husbandman of the garden in Eden.

The problem was Cains worship of the Lord!
Well, just what was wrong with it?
Abel and Cain had been taught as boys the true and proper worship of the Lord!

“Pastor I don't seem to read that in the Bible.”

Yes its there alright.....
Man's answer, carnal religion..
Genesis 3:7,12 KJV
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

God's answer, the first animal sacrifice, with the shedding of blood, a type of the sacrifice to come.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them

Adam and Eve learned true worship that day, and they passed that form of worship on to their sons.

Genesis 4:7 KJV
“...sin lieth at the door.”

Cain knew better, but wanted to do worship his way! Surely, he thought, his religious practice would be just as good that bloody one of Adam, Eve and Abel.

That is what he thought, but he was wrong.

Mark 7:5-9 KJV
5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And He said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
21 Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.

How on earth, could our Lord, tell a people who were in church on Sunday, a Charismatic people of prophecy, exorcism, and many wonderful religious works, “depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.”

He could if in their worship, they never had repented of their sins, and taken Him personally as their Saviour and Lord of their lives. And it is apparent, this they never did!

Oh they had tremendous worship, but they were “TERRIBLE, SINISTER, WORKERS OF INIQUITY!”

Why, because their “sham,” worship, was a hollow pretense. A ritualistic show of no personal spiritual merit.

Why? Because in their sham of religious worship, they were leading others into the same dead, ritualistic spiritual anathema, as well.

How very careful, we must be in our worship of the Lord!
True worship, brings attention to none-other than the Lord Jesus Christ, and His sacrifice for sin.
