Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus--Sight Restored To Bartimaeus.

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus; Sight Restored To Bartimaeus.

Bible Location: Jericho.

Bible Text: Mark 10:46-52 KJV (Luke 18:35-43)
46 And they came to Jericho: and as He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; He calleth thee.
50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto Him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Mark 10:46,47 KJV
46 And they came to Jericho: and as He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

And Bartimaeus was not alone, others believed that Jesus was the Son of David as well.

Matthew 9:27 KJV
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed Him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

Matthew 12:23 KJV
And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the Son of David?

Matthew 15:22 KJV
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto Him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

Matthew 21:9 KJV
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

Mark 10:48 KJV
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

The world desires nothing more than that throngs of humanity forget about God, calling on God, or asking for His divine help! “There is no God,” they clamor “and even if there was one, He wouldn't have time for you!” “Be quiet, and sit down.”
Dear friend, we must not listen to an ungodly world for Godly advice!

Romans 12:2 KJV
And be not conformed* to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

*Conformed-Greek-Suschematizo-(Soos-khay-mat-id-zo): Conform to the same pattern, conform to, fashion self according to.
(Abingdon/Strong Concordance of the Bible)

We are “not,” to let this evil world “mold,” us into its image. May we find our belief in the Word of God.

I Peter 5:7 KJV
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

Is our Saviour, impaled upon a cross, incompetent to help us? Never, He is our Saviour, High Priest, seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven, interceding for us!

Hebrews 4:14,15 KJV
14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.
15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.
16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Bartimaeus, “cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”
Certainly, our Lord, knew that Bartimaeus was at the gate, and in need, why then did He allow Bartimaeus to call out two times?

Could it not be that, importunity (persistence) in prayer, in seeking the Lord, is what we are to do.

Matthew 7:7,8 KJV
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Mark 10:49 KJV
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; He calleth thee.

May we never doubt that our living God hears us, for He does!

Psalm 4:3 KJV
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for Himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto Him.

Matthew 6:32 KJV
"...for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things."

Mark 10:50-52 KJV
50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto Him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Bartimaeus, had faith, that Jesus was the Son of David, the Son of God. He had heard, and he believed that nothing was impossible for Jesus.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently* seek Him.

*Diligently-Greek-Ekzeteo-(Ek-zay-teh-o): To search out, investigate, crave, enquire, seek after, carefully diligently.

Bartimaeus cast aside the loose garments that could have impeded his going to Jesus.
A lesson for us.

Hebrews 12:1,2 NLT
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith..."

That day, so long ago, the faith of one Bartimaeus, had made him whole. Faith in the Son of David, God's Son, Jesus.

And faith in Jesus, God's eternal, holy Son, still sets people free today!
Call upon Him in faith. He will hear you. He will answer you.

Mark 9:23 KJV
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
