Bible Lessons: Church Symbol-Fleur-De-Lis- - Trinity

Bible Lesson: Symbols Of The Church Of Jesus Christ

Church Symbol: Fleur-De-Lis/ The Lilly

The three frond lily, represents the Holy Trinity, of God the Father, God the Son, and
God the Holy Spirit.

Creator God, the Father, with Christ, the son, the redeemer, and God the Holy Spirit, regenerator, sanctifier.

Not three God's acting independently of one another, but A God head consisting of three distinct, cooperating, persons, working completely in harmony, and total unity with the others.

Athanasian Creed:
This creed was written by Athanasius, a fourth century bishop of Alexandria who was a defender of the doctrines of the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus Christ. He defined the doctrines of the Trinity and the very nature of Christ.

"Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the universal faith. Which faith except everyone do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the universal faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity, neither confounding the persons, nor dividing the substance.

For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, and another of the Holy Spirit. But the godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, is all one, the glory equal, the majesty co-eternal.

Such as the Father is, such is the Son, and such is the Holy Spirit. The Father uncreated, the Son uncreated, and the Holy Spirit uncreated. The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the Holy Spirit incomprehensible.

The Father eternal, the Son eternal, and the Holy Spirit eternal. And yet they are not three eternals, but one Eternal.

As also there are not three incomprehensibles, nor three uncreated, but one Uncreated, and one Incomprehensible. So likewise the Father is Almighty, the Son Almighty, and the Holy Spirit Almighty. And yet they are not three almighties, but one Almighty.

So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. And yet they are not three gods, but one God.

So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son Lord, and the Holy Spirit Lord. And yet not three lords, but one Lord.

For as we are compelled by the Christian verity to acknowledge each Person by Himself to be both God and Lord, so we are also forbidden by the universal religion to say that there are three gods or three lords.

The Father is made of none, neither created, nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone, not made, nor created, but begotten. The Holy Spirit is of the Father, neither made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding.

So there is one Father, not three fathers; one Son, not three sons; one Holy Spirit, not three holy spirits.

And in the Trinity none is before or after another; none is greater or less than another, but all three Persons are co-eternal together and co-equal. So that in all things, as is aforesaid, the Unity in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity is to be worshipped.

He therefore that will be saved is must think thus of the Trinity.

Furthermore, it is necessary to everlasting salvation that he also believe rightly the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right faith is, that we believe and confess, that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and man; God, of the substance of the Father, begotten before the worlds; and man of the substance of his mother, born in the world; perfect God and perfect man, of a rational soul and human flesh subsisting. Equal to the Father, as touching His godhead; and inferior to the Father, as touching His manhood; who, although He is God and man, yet he is not two, but one Christ; one, not by conversion of the godhead into flesh but by taking of the manhood into God; one altogether; not by confusion of substance, but by unity of person. For as the rational soul and flesh is one man, so God and man is one Christ; who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead. He ascended into heaven, He sits at the right hand of the Father, God Almighty, from whence He will come to judge the quick and the dead. At His coming all men will rise again with their bodies and shall give account for their own works. And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting; and they that have done evil into everlasting fire.

This is the universal faith, which except a man believe faithfully, he cannot be saved.

Old Testament Trinity:

God the Father:

Isaiah 63:16 KJV
Doubtless thou art our Father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our Father, our Redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

Malachi 2:10 KJV
Have we not all one Father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

God the Son:

Psalm 2:6,7 KJV
[6] Yet have I set my king upon My holy hill of Zion.
[7] I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto Me, Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Psalm 45:6,7 KJV
[6] Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of Thy Kingdom is a right sceptre.
[7] Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows.

(The Apostle Paul, referred to this verse as describing the "Son of God.")
Hebrews 1:8,9 KJV
[8] But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
[9] Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Proverbs 30:4 KJV
Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in His fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His Son's name, if thou canst tell?

Jeremiah 23:5,6 NLT
5 “For the time is coming,” says the Lord,“when I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David’s line. He will be a King who rules with wisdom.
He will do what is just and right throughout the land.
6 And this will be His name:‘The Lord Is Our Righteousness.' In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

God the Holy Spirit:

Genesis 1:2 KJV
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Isaiah 11:2,3 KJV
[2] And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
[3] And shall make Him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears:

Isaiah 48:16 KJV
Come ye near unto Me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and His Spirit, hath sent Me.

Isaiah 61:1 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Isaiah 63:10 KJV
But they rebelled, and vexed His Holy Spirit: therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them.

New Testament scriptures alluding to the trinity.

Matthew 3:16,17 KJV
[16] And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him:
[17] And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Matthew 28:19 KJV
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

John 14:16,17,26 KJV
[16] And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;
[17] Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26 KJV
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me:

II Corinthians 13:14 KJV
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Galatians 4:6 KJV
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Ephesians 2:18 KJV
For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

II Thessalonians 3:5 KJV
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

I Peter 1:2 KJV
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Ephesians 1:3,13 KJV
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
[13] In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Hebrews 9:14 KJV
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

The trinity, is not an easy concept to understand.
To be able to understand it, is to know God, and no mortal, can say that he completely understands the Eternal Almighty God.

Some examples to help us though:
Water, can be
Liquid
Ice and
Steam,....yet it is nothing but water in all cases.

Electricity, can produce...
Light
Heat, and
Motion, or movement, through motors.

Mankind patterned after his Creator, is Body, Soul, and Spirit.

One day, while in the glories of the New Jerusalem, all mysteries, will come to be explained.
Until that day, let us walk by faith, in the Wonderful Triune God who loves and who has given Himself for our salvation.

I have found a friend in Jesus, He's everything to me,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
the Lily of the Valley in Him a-lone I see,
All I need to cleanse and make me whole.
In sorrow He's my comfort, in trouble He's my stay,
He tells me ev-'ry care on Him to roll.
Hallelujah!

He's the Lily of the Valley,
the bright and morning Star,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.
In sorrow He's my comfort, in trouble He's my stay;
He tells me every care on Him to roll (Hallelujah!)
He's the Lily of the Valley, the bright and morning star,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.
