Bible Lesson:Miracles Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit: Aeneas And Dorcas Raised Up
Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Power Of
The Holy Spirit: Aeneas And Dorcas Raised Up.
God's Messenger: Peter.
Bible Location: Lydda (Ancient land of
Lod, Nehemiah 7:37; some 15 miles from the coast of the
Mediterranean.)
Bible Text: Acts 9:32-42 NLT
32 Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place
to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of
Lydda.
33 There he met a man named Aeneas, who
had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years.
34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus
Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he
was healed instantly.
35 Then the whole population of Lydda
and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.
36 There was a believer in Joppa named
Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things
for others and helping the poor.
37 About this time she became ill and
died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room.
38 But the believers had heard that
Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him, “Please
come as soon as possible!”
39 So Peter returned with them; and as
soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was
filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and
other clothes Dorcas had made for them.
40 But Peter asked them all to leave
the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get
up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat
up!
41 He gave her his hand and helped her
up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he
presented her to them alive.
42 The news spread through the whole
town, and many believed in the Lord.
Acts 9:32 NLT
Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place
to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of
Lydda.
Peter was a man who was lead by the
Holy Spirit.
Psalm 37:23 KJV
The steps of a good man are ordered by
the LORD: and He delighteth in his way.
Acts 9:33 NLT
There he met a man named Aeneas, who
had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years.
What age has not known the sick, the
halt and the lame. It was true in our Saviour's day, and it is true
yet today.
A man who for eight long years, lay on
a bed, because he was paralyzed, his legs were lifeless, and useless,
due to a palsy of uncontrollable tremors. How hopeless his life must
have been, existing on the sympathy, and the generosity of others.
The charge of the Lord Jesus to His
men.
Matthew 10:5,7,8 KJV
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and
commanded them, saying...
7 ...The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers..."
Acts 9:34 NLT
Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus
Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he
was healed instantly.
Luke 17:6 KJV
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a
grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou
plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should
obey you.
Why, oh why don't Christian people pray
today? And no it has nothing to do with, because it is “not for this
dispensation!” The true answer is what our Lord said!
Matthew 8:26 KJV
And He saith unto them, Why are ye
fearful, O ye of little faith?
Then He arose, and rebuked the winds
and the sea; and there was a great calm.
James 5:13-16 KJV
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him
pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call
for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing
him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save
the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed
sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another,
and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual
fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to
please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and
that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
God still answers prayer!
Luke 11:9,10 KJV
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall
be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened
unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be
opened.
Acts 9:35 NLT
Then the whole population of Lydda and
Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.
When the people saw the answer to
Peter's prayer, Aeneas healed, they “turned to the Lord.”
Friends, hear this and if you need to,
write it down and paste it on your television!
Miracles in the name of the Lord, are
to draw individuals to the Precious Lord Jesus, “not to earthly
men!”
Read that again.
Where ever prayer is given and miracles
called for, remember well Acts 9:35.
Acts 9:35 NLT
Then the whole population of Lydda and
Sharon saw Aeneas walking around,
and they turned (to Peter!)
Never, and Godly Peter would have
“never,” permitted such an abomination!
The People of Lydda and Sharon they
turned to the Lord.

Acts 9:36 NLT
There was a believer in Joppa named
Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things
for others and helping the poor.
Proverbs 22:1 KJV
A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than
great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.
Much good was said of Tabitha, how she
had helped the helpless, and all the kind things she did for others,
such as making coats or cloaks for many of them.
And what then will one day be said of
us? Everyday, we contribute to our own epitaph.
Acts 9:37-39 NLT
37 About this time she became ill and
died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room.
38 But the believers had heard that
Peter was nearby at Lydda (From Joppa to Lydda, 12-15 miles), so they
sent two men to beg him, “Please come as soon as possible!”
39 So Peter returned with them; and as
soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was
filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and
other clothes Dorcas had made for them.
Many that day testified of their love
for Dorcas, the care giver.
Some had more than sorrow, some, more
than likely the few, thought, Peter is nearby, “do you think he
could pray and resurrect our loved one?”
And so they begged for Peter to come,
and pray for their deceased friend.
What, what was it our Saviour had
taught His men?
Matthew 10:5,7,8 KJV
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and
commanded them,
7 ...saying The kingdom of heaven is at
hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers,
raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely
give.
Acts 9:40-42 NLT
40 But Peter asked them all to leave
the room; then he knelt and prayed....
Psalm 4:3 KJV
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for Himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto Him.
Proverbs 15:29 KJV
The LORD is far from the wicked: but He
heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Isaiah 58:9 KJV
Then shalt thou call, and the LORD
shall answer..."
Ephesians 6:18 KJV
Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints;
I Thessalonians 5:17 KJV
Pray without ceasing.
If the church of the Lord Jesus Christ
is powerless today, it because its people refuse to bend their knees
and spend time in prayer!
Acts 9:40-42 NLT
….Turning to the body he said, “Get
up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat
up!
41 He gave her his hand and helped her

All praise, all honor, all thanksgiving
belongs to our Lord, and always will.
