Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus: Blind Man Healed

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus: Blind man healed.

Bible Location: Bethsaida (North East corner of Galilee.)

Bible Text: Mark 8:22-26 NLT
22 When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged Him to touch the man and heal him.
23 Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, He laid His hands on him and asked, “Can you see anything now?”
24 The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.”
25 Then Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.
26 Jesus sent him away, saying, “Don’t go back into the village on your way home.”

Mark 8:22 KJV
When they arrived at Bethsaida,...

Jesus was at Bethsaida, He had spoken to them and His message was one of warning.

Matthew 11:20-22 KJV
20 Then began He to upbraid the cities wherein most of His mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

Dare we think it, is it possible, that our Lord's work may be hindered, even stopped, because of the sinful unbelief of men?

Matthew 13:58 KJV
And He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Mark 6:5,6 KJV
5 And He could there do no mighty work, save that He laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And He marveled because of their unbelief..."

Yes! As a Christian, it is your responsibility, in the church, to pray in earnest for your pastor, and fellow believers, that it will be a gathering of faith and unity, so that the works of God may be done.

Our God, can do anything (Genesis 18:14), but even His hands are tied, in an darkened atmosphere of rebellion and doubt.

Ephesians 6:18 KJV
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Colossians 1:3 KJV
We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

I Thessalonians 1:2 KJV
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

Mark 8:22 KJV
...some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged Him to touch the man and heal him.

Certainly a man is no stronger than the sum of his friends.
This man, blind and for the most part helpless, did have one tremendous asset, and that was, blind yes, but not friendless.

And the friends he had were of the sort who would think it of no personal ill, to beg for their friend, and so they did.

I Peter 5:7 KJV
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

Proverbs 18:24 KJV
"... there is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother."

That friend is the Lord Jesus.

Mark 8:23 KJV
Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village.

Matthew 4:10 KJV
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan..."

To do the work of God, we must separate ourselves from those of sin and unbelief.

Think of the glory of creation! The eye, has 130 million, light sensitive rods and cones, that change light waves into chemical pulses that travel at a billion a second to the brain. And man has not just one eye but two perfectly synchronized marvels of our God's creation.

What doctor, what showman or shaman, can create or restore sight to a blind eye?
Answer, none, except the creator, the Lord Jesus.

Mark 8:23 KJV
...Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, He laid His hands on him and asked, “Can you see anything now?”

Regardless of the sinful unbelief of the multitude, Jesus never left a needy person, until they were healed.

II Thessalonians 3:3 KJV
But the Lord is faithful..."

Hebrews 10:23 KJV
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;)

Mark 8:24-25 KJV
24 The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.”
25 Then Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.

Psalm 94:9 KJV
He that planted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see?

Proverbs 20:12 KJV
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

Mark 8:26 KJV
Jesus sent him away, saying, “Don’t go back into the village on your way home.”

It was of no use to go into town and tell doubters, who had not come out to see Jesus, of the wonderful thing He had done!
But, rather to go to his relatives of his own house, telling them of the miracle Jesus had done unto him.

And Christian, we are “Saved,” to testify of the great things God has done unto us, and that without exception. To think that we may be a closet Christian, is a misnomer.

Mark 8:38 KJV
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when He cometh in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.

Romans 10:9-11
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.

Philippians 2:9-11 KJV
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

II Timothy 2:12 KJV
If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we deny Him, He also will deny us:

I John 2:22,23 KJV
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

I John 4:15 KJV
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
