Bible Questions Answered: White Stone.

Bible Questions Answered:
Revelation mentions a white stone, given to the people in heaven, what is this?
Kerrie/ United Kingdom

Bible Answer:

Bible Text:
Revelation 2:17 KJV
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that over cometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 2:17 KJV
"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that over cometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna,"

First of all, how wonderful it is to know the Bread of Life, and to be nourished by Him.

John 6:31-35 KJV
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but My Father giveth you the True Bread from heaven.
33 For the Bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Then said they unto Him, Lord, evermore give us this Bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the Bread of Life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst.

The True Bread of heaven, is not from “she, or they,” rather it is only from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 NASB New American Standard Bible
"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

Revelation 2:17 KJV
“...and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”

The White Stone:

It was the custom of ancient Greeks, when giving verdicts of innocence or condemnation, to give either a white stone or a black one to the defendant. White stood for absolution or acquittal, black for condemnation.

Then again an eastern custom, if a man committed a crime, he could often offer money (blood-money) to offer to buy his freedom. He then always was seen in white, a white camel, tent, and a white boulder out side of his tent, announcing to one and all, that he was a free man, having paid for his freedom.
It would be as though he had never committed a crime, and its proof would be the white boulder out side of his tent.

Now Jesus says,
Revelation 2:17 KJV
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that
over cometh will I give ...him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Who are the over comers? Who are the forgiven (justified), cleansed, as though they had never sinned?

Acts 13:37-39 KJV
37 But He, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.
38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this Man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
39 And by Him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Romans 5:1 KJV
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

I John 5:4,5 KJV
4 For whatsoever is born of God over cometh the world: and this is the victory that over cometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that over cometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Salvation, may not be “bought,” it is a free gift.

Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Psalm 143:2 KJV
"...for in thy sight shall no man living be justified."

Romans 3:20 NLT
For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

Galatians 5:4 NLT
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

And yes, forgiveness of sins and eternal life, cannot be bought by “religious works,” no matter how grand!
Not by confirmations, dedications, baptisms, communions, memberships or honorary degrees.
“it is the GIFT of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

And acquittal, absolution, forgiveness, cleansing, comes only from a person, and that person is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Forgiveness of sin:

Psalm 103:1-3 KJV
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Acts 5:30,31 KJV
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
31 Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Acts 13:38,39 NLT
38 “Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this Man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins.
39 Everyone who believes in Him is declared right with God—something the law of Moses could never do.

Ephesians 1:6,7 NLT
6 So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son.
7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son and forgave our sins.

I John 1:6-10 KJV
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

A New Name:

Isaiah 56:5 KJV
"...I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off."

Isaiah 62:2 KJV
"...and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

Revelation 3:12 KJV
Him that over cometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him My new name.

Is your name in the Lamb's book of life, is there a white stone with your name in it in heaven?

Acts 2:21 KJV
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
