Bible Questions Answered: Work

Bible Questions Answered:
When will work, finally be done away?
Nichole/ Cavite, Philippines

Bible Answers:

Genesis 2:15 KJV
And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Genesis 2:15 NLT
The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

Adam, from the very beginning was created a worker.
But do not misunderstand, what was Godly commission was, hardly cumbersome toil, on the contrary, it was a service of love and duty.

Only after the sinful fall of man, did work, become cursed, and burdensome.

Genesis 3:19 KJV
17 And unto Adam He said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Please notice, that in the first part, Genesis 2:15, Adam was in Paradise, and yet commissioned to service.

Will there be work in heaven?
Yes, but work will once again be restored to the place of blessing and not a curse.

Will work, ever cease? No!
God in His wisdom, has given everyone his or her, callings, abilities and or talents.
Each and everyone has a place and a specific commission, in God's Kingdom.

I Corinthians 12:14-27 NLT
14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.
15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body.
16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?
18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where He wants it.
19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part!
20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.
21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”
22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.
23 And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen,
24 while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity.
25 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.
26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.
27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

Our God Himself, is a worker:

John 5:17 KJV
But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

Mark 16:20 KJV (The Risen Lord Jesus.)
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

I Corinthians 3:9 KJV (God and His Church.)
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

II Corinthians 6:1 KJV
We then, as workers together with Him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

Heavenly service is anything but cruel labor, it is the joy of duty and love.

Hebrews 1:14 KJV
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Hebrews 1:14 NRSV
Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

Revelation 7:15 KJV
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple: and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
28 Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
