25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea* and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth..."

*Sea: A dual meaning, of oceans and storms, and also of the raging nations or peoples (nations) of the world.

Distress of nations.

“And there shall be...upon the earth distress of nations,” ethnic, racial and class hatreds, bombings, killings, and wars.

Not to mention, insurmountable increase of crimes, worsening figures on geophysics, global warming and pollution. Monumental declines in currencies and stocks, population explosion, over six billion and counting, multiplying faster and faster.

Quandary: State of uncertainty, dilemma. “ “ “

The false gods of this world have failed. Amusements of all kinds, failed; drinks of all kind, and drunkenness, have failed, immorality and lusts of all kind, have and will fail, education and great scientific endeavors if not “Godly instruction, will fail, leadership of any kind if not “Godly inspired,” will fail, etc. etc..etc.

Once men thought, inventions of new guns, new missiles, rockets and bombs would solve the worlds problems, but no one would dare think that today!
Certainly a world court, representing the nations, could and would bring peace.
Such was the founding thought of the 1914 League of Nations/ United Nations, but today they send out troops to raging wars around the globe.

If one word, would be brought to categorize today's world it would be the word “fear.”

Mounting terrorist groups actively recruiting the young, as did Adolph Hitler. Hate groups, people needing little reason to kill and make war.
Military might forever building, costs mounting, economies failing. Peace accords rescinded, evil alignments forging. Battle plans ever ready.
The great darkness of apostasy preparing the way of the coming dark one.

II Thessalonians 2:1-4 NLT
1 Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet Him.
2 Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us.
3 Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction.

This older pastor remembers as a child, school beginning with a reading from the scripture and prayer. Once in America, all school textbooks had references to scripture.

How far we have come, and what of your country, and people?
In a seminary poll the following was asked of it's student, pastors to be.

Is God all powerful?
64% replied yes/ 7 % uncertain/ 29% no.

Is the book of Genesis true, and creation by God a reality?
5 % replied yes/ 6% uncertain/ 89 % no.

Is there a real devil?
9 % said yes/ 9 % uncertain/ 82 % no.

Do you believe in the “virgin birth.”
25 % yes/ 24 % uncertain/ 51 % no.

Do you believe in Christ's atoning death on the cross?
29 % yes/ 10 % uncertain/ 61 % no.

Do you believe in the actual resurrection, of Christ?
42 % yes/ 27 % uncertain/ 31 % no.

Do you believe that the New Testament is God's final revelation to man?
18 % yes/ 13 % uncertain/ 69 % no.

What today is the Christians hope?
II Thessalonians 4:13-18 NLT
13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died.
15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet Him ahead of those who have died.
16 For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
18 So encourage each other with these words.

27 And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
