Bible Lesson: Parables-Our Lord's -The Pearl Of Great Price

Bible Lesson: Parables-Our Lords:
Parable: The Pearl Of Great Price.

Matthew 13:45,46 KJV
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

The definition of this parable is the same as the last (The Hidden Treasure).
The Merchant Man, is none other the the dear Lord Jesus, Eternal Son of the Father.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Micah 5:2 KJV
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Proverbs 8:27 KJV
When He prepared the heavens, I was there:

The Pearl, well, we can thank 20th century technology, for the answer.
From outer space looking back at the earth, it appears as a white and blue marble.
At one time in, from Adam's day to Noah's, the earth was completely surrounded by a water canopy, shielding it from ultra violet light, etc.
At that time, the earth appeared to be a shinny white pearl floating in outer space.

John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Could you tell, how much God, loved the world?
Not if you had all of eternity, could you come close to stating the love God has for His creation.
This gem, of dark outer space, what a treasure to Almighty God, for in it is His creation man.

It is very interesting to note, if this parable holds, and we cannot press a parable into yielding more truth than the simple obvious, but maybe, just maybe, for we do not know, there may well be other pearls, of the Lord God's desire as well as this one.

Matthew 13:45 “... seeking goodly pearls:”

John 16:12 KJV
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Malachi 3:17 KJV
“And they shall be Mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels...”

The Merchant Man:
Can you see Him?
Righteous, industrious, determined, a man of great wealth, yet his wealth, would not be enough to purchase this treasure.

Job 28:13 KJV (I Corinthians 1:30)
Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.

Salvation for us is free, a gift.

Romans 6:23 KJV

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But the price of our redemption, cost our Saviour, everything.

John 19:17,18 KJV
17 And He bearing His cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
18 Where they crucified Him..."

Philippians 2:6-11 KJV
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Titus 2:13,14 KJV
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Hebrews 12:2 KJV
Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The Merchant Man's love for the Pearl of great price, cost Him His very life.
That gem, where those who would turn to Him, as their Saviour, and Redeemer.

The very gates of heaven, will forever remind the people of God, just how much, their Saviour loved them.

Revelation 21:16,21 KJV
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

I Corinthians 6:19,20 KJV
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Revelation 5:8-14 KJV
8 And when He had taken the book, the four (living creatures) and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the (living creatures) and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
14 And the four (living creatures) said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped Him that liveth for ever and ever.
