Bible Lesson: Parables- Our Lord's - The Leaven

Bible Lesson: Parables-Our Lord's
Parable: The Leaven

Luke 13:20,21 KJV
20 And again He said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?
21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

Luke 13:20,21 NLT
20 He also asked, “What else is the Kingdom of God like?
21 It is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

Leaven/ yeast: Leaven was forbidden for God's people, as it was a type of evil, or evil doctrine.

Leviticus 2:11 KJV
No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire.

Matthew 16:6,11 KJV
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

Mark 8:15 KJV
And He charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

I Corinthians 5:6-8 KJV
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

I Corinthians 5:6-8 NLT
6 Your boasting about this is terrible. Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough?
7 Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.
8 So let us celebrate the festival, not with the old bread of wickedness and evil, but with the new bread of sincerity and truth.

Leaven, mixed with meal, works its work, secretly, yet forcefully.
Today, in our world, there are hundreds of cults and isms, leading men astray.
They are “in the meal,” doing their sinister work.
False doctrines, damnable heresies, that lead men to perdition.

Satan's goal, to get men of the straight and narrow, to the broad way, that leads to destruction.

Matthew 7:13,14 KJV
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

John 12:48 KJV
He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

II Peter 2:1-3 KJV
1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Now, evil, has it spread to the “Whole,” church?

I Corinthians 5:6 KJV
Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

I Corinthians 5:6 NLT
Your boasting about this is terrible (Sin in the church). Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough?

The Apostle Paul, certainly did not lie!
Yes the "whole," church is polluted with sin.
Sins of pride, greed, hypocrisy, self-aggrandizement, hate, slander, covetousness, etc. etc..etc..

I John 1:9,10 KJV
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Revival of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, will not come by our confessing the sins of others, but by our tears of grief, over the mountain of unconfessed sins we harbor. Oh deceit, oh the danger of leaven.

There can never be healing, restoration, revival, until there is confession.

James 5:16 KJV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

I Corinthians 5:6-
6...Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough?
7 Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing ...(the sin)... from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are..."

I John 2:15-18 KJV
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

Hebrews 12:1,2 KJV
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1,2 NLT
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
