Bible Questions Answered: Generation-This

Bible Questions Answered:
This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled, ...what is a generation, mentioned here?
Roberta/ Woodland, California

Bible Answers:

Matthew 24:32-36 KJV
[32] Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
[33] So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
[34] Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
[35] Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
[36] But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Generation: Gena-Greek (Ghen-eh-ah): The period or the persons; age, generation, time. (Abingdon's Strong's Concordance)
Generation: The people living in a certain period of time. (Law of first reference-Matthew 1:17.)

Back in patriarchal times …the longest a generation could be:

Genesis 15:16 NLT (God told Abram.)
After four generations your descendants will return here to this land, for the sins of the Amorites do not yet warrant their destruction.”

Exodus 12:40 NLT (The night of the Passover, in Egypt.)
The people of Israel had lived in Egypt for 430 years.

What was a patriarchal generation? Four hundred and thirty divided by four, reveals that a generation was 107.5 years!

Abraham, himself did not have a son until he was one hundred years old.
Genesis 17:17-19 KJV
[17] Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
[18] And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
[19] And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

A generation, others:

Psalm 95:10 KJV
Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
A generation, forty years.

Job 42:16
After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
A generation, one hundred and forty years divided by four, equals thirty five years.

In Matthew 24:34, who is our Lord referring to? (Must read the whole chapter -24.)
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

1)Christ was referring to the Jewish nation as a whole, they would not pass from the scene, they would be “kept,” by the power of God.
2)Christ was referring to His church, His bride, who would not pass from the scene, till all things would be fulfilled, “kept,” by the power of God.
3)Both, are true.

When does this “last generation,” begin?
No one knows for sure, but others say yes we do know by the signs given by the Lord Jesus.
What are the “last generation, signs.”

Matthew 24:32,33 KJV
[32] Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
[33] So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Who is this fig tree? It is the nation of Israel.

Fig Tree

Fig Tree-Part 2

In November 1917 came the Balfour Declaration.
The British government, declared that a Jewish “national home,” be established in Palestine! (The budding of the fig tree.)

According to Christ, the last generation will see the “beginning of sorrows. (verse 8).

Matthew 24:3-8 KJV
[3] And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world (age)?
[4] And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
[5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
[6] And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
[7] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
[8] All these are the beginning of sorrows.

1)Deceivers:
2)War-nation against nation, kingdom against kingdom.
3)Famines.
4)Pestilences (Plaques)
5)Earthquakes.

Deceivers at this time were in abundance, so called “Divines,” claiming to be God.

Some believe that the greatest war was that of WWI 1914-1918 (1917-1918 U.S. involvement.), estimates of some thirty seven million dead.

This war was followed by famine (1918-1921), with Russia and China with millions of dead. Five thousand dead daily in China, thirty thousand dead daily in Russia.

Not far away came the plague (Spanish Influenza), with a death total globally greater than that of the war.

Earthquake followed this deadly procession, with two hundred thousand dead, in inland China (15,000 sq. miles). Two yeas later, an earthquake hit Japan, killing some one hundred and fifty thousand individuals.

Was this the “beginning of sorrows,” Christ spoke of?
If it was, just how close are we to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, for His church?

To quote just a few:

Dr. A.C. Gaebelein, “World War I, marks the beginning of the end time.”

Dr. Billy Graham, “...I believe we are part of the last generation.”

Matthew 24:36,42 KJV
[36] But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
[42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Romans 13:11 KJV
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

I Thessalonians 5:6 KJV
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Dear friend do you know the Saviour?
