Bible Questions Answered: Melchizedek-Who Was He?

Bible Questions Answered:
Who is Melchizedek?
Arnold/ Raleigh, Mississippi

Bible Answers:
Abraham, rescued his nephew Lot, from four raiding kings who sacked Sodom, where he lived, and Gomorrah.
Abraham, routed the enemy, taking back Lot and his family and goods.
King and Priest, Melchizedek, met Abraham, to give him bread and wine, and God's blessing.

Genesis 14:18-20 KJV
[18] And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and He was the Priest of the Most High God.
[19] And He blessed him (Abraham), and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth:
[20] And blessed be the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave Him tithes of all.

Matthew 26:26-29 KJV
[26] And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body.
[27] And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
[28] For this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
[29] But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom.

Melchizedek, described:

Hebrews 7:1-3 KJV (Read Hebrews chapters five- eight.)
[1] For this Melchisedec, King of Salem, Priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
[2] To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of Righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of Peace;
[3] Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Melchizedek, was a theophany of the Lord Jesus Christ. (An Eternal King-High Priest who would one day come from Judah.)

Melchizedek: Hebrew: Mal-kee-tseh-dek: A royal king of right/ righteousness.
King of Salem: Hebrew: Shaw-lame: (Shawlem) Peace/ Peaceful

Melchizedek:
There is absolutely “no,” biblical history of his parents.
Descendant of no priestly family.
His genealogy, is not ever given.
There is no record of his birth or death.
There is no Biblical record of his being dedicated to office, or leaving the office of the Priesthood, or of having a successor.
Melchizedek was an Eternal Priest (Psalm 110:4).

Does this describe any earthly man(born under Adam), of course not!
This is our King-High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the same pre-incarnate, eternal Son of God, who visited with Abraham sometime after, in the company of two angels.

Genesis 18:1,2 KJV

1] And the LORD appeared unto him (Abraham) in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
[2] And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

King of Salem:

Isaiah 9:6,7 KJV
[6] For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The Mighty God,
The Everlasting Father
, The Prince of Peace.
[7] Of the increase of His Government and Peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

John 14:27 KJV
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Hebrews 7:2 KJV
To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation
King of Righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of Peace;

King of Righteousness:

Psalm 85:8-13 KJV
[8] I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
[9] Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him; that glory may dwell in our land.
[10] Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
[11] Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
[12] Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
[13] Righteousness shall go before Him; and shall set us in the way of His steps.

Psalm 119:142 KJV
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Thy law is the truth.

Isaiah 45:24 KJV
Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to Him shall men come; and all that are incensed against Him shall be ashamed.

At the right hand of God the Father, is an Eternal High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 110:1-7 AMP
1 THE LORD (God) says to my Lord (the Messiah), Sit at My right hand, until I make Your adversaries Your footstool.
2 The Lord will send forth from Zion the scepter of Your strength; rule, then, in the midst of Your foes.
3 Your people will offer themselves willingly in the day of Your power, in the beauty of holiness and in holy array out of the womb of the morning; to You [will spring forth] Your young men, who are as the dew.
4 The Lord has sworn and will not revoke or change it: You are a Priest forever, after the manner and order of Melchizedek.
5 The Lord at Your right hand will shatter kings in the day of His indignation.
6 He will execute judgment [in overwhelming punishment] upon the nations; He will fill the valleys with the dead bodies, He will crush the [chief] heads over lands many and far extended.
7 He will drink of the brook by the way; therefore will He lift up His head [triumphantly].

Romans 8:34 KJV
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again,
who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Hebrews 1:1-3 KJV
[1] God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
[2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;
[3] Who being the Brightness of His Glory, and the Express Image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hebrews 10:12 KJV
But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever,
sat down on the right hand of God;

Hebrews 5:8-10 KJV (Hebrews 6:20, 7:21)
[8] Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered;
[9] And being made perfect, He became the Author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him;
[10] Called of God an High Priest after the order of Melchisedec.

John 1:1,2,18 KJV
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[18] No man hath seen God at any time; the only Begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him.
