Surrendered Life

Bible Questions Answered:
“What does it mean to be a Jesus follower...?”
Billy/ Austin, Texas U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

It means you have accepted The Lord Jesus Christ into your heart and life, and are willing to make Him The Lord* of your life.

*Lord-Greek: Kurios (Koo-reeos): Supreme in authority, Master.

To be a follower of Jesus Christ means cross bearing:
It means, when The Lord, is The Master of your life, you must die to self and sinful – worldly things, and make The Savior the one who directs your life.

This alone is the road to all blessings and life.

Mark 10:21 KJV (Jesus and the rich young ruler.)
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.

Cross bearing, daily occurrences, that are, volitionary acts, placing Christ as Master.

When a Christian is baptized it is a “public confession,” as to their spiritual decision to follow The Lord Jesus.!

Romans 6:2-4 KJV
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?
4 Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of The Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Colossians 2:12-15 NLT
12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.
13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins.
14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
15 In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the cross.

The Surrendered Life:

Romans 6:6,11 KJV
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Galatians 2:20 KJV
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of The Son Of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

Galatians 5:24 KJV
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Colossians 2:20 NLT
You have died with Christ, and He has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world..."

Colossians 3:3 KJV
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

I Peter 2:24 KJV
Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

II Timothy 2:11,12,21 NLT
11 This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with Him, we will also live with Him.
12 If we endure hardship, we will reign with him.
If we deny Him, he will deny us.
21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for The Master to use you for every good work.

Only One Life, Twill Soon Be Past
Poem by C.T Studd

Two little lines I heard one day,
Traveling along life's busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in 'that day' my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgment seat;
Only one life,'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice,
Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave,
And to God's holy will to cleave;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years,
Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill,
living for self or in His will;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore,
When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way,
Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,
In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e'er the strife,
Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn,
And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone,
Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, "twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Now let me say,"Thy will be done";
And when at last I'll hear the call,
I know I'll say "twas worth it all";
Only one life,'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last. "

--- extra stanza ---

Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.
And when I am dying, how happy I'll be,
If the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee.”

Romans 12:1,2 KJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
