Bible Answer:
We can thank Roman Emperor Constantine
(306-337) for that. This Roman Emperor converted to Christianity, due
to the Christian influence of his mother Helena. In the year 313
Emperor Constantine issued the “Edict of Milan,” which legalized
Christian worship.
Another thing he did was to combine the
date of Roman sun god (Sol Invictus - Mithras.) worship, with that of
the birth date of the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Sun worship/ Son worship. The early
Christ-Mass celebration, was thought of, by early Christian leaders
as an excellent opportunity to proselyte Roman pagans.
Early Christians, were not celebrating
a date, but the birth of the promised Messiah. For this reason, there
was no disputing of dates, for no one really knew the exact day of
Christ's birth.
Isaiah 7:14 KJV
Therefore the Lord Himself shall
give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and
shall call His name Emmanuel.
Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a Child is born, unto us
a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and
His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The
Everlasting Father, The Prince Of Peace.
Luke 1:31-33 KJV
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive
in thy womb, and bring forth a Son, and shalt call His name Jesus.
32 He shall be great, and shall be
called the Son Of The Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto Him
the throne of His father David:
33 And He shall reign over the house
of Jacob for ever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end.
John 1:14 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only
Begotten Of The Father,) full of grace and truth.
Romans 8:3 NLT
The law of Moses was unable to save
us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the
law could not do. He sent His own Son in a body like the bodies we
sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control
over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
Philippians 2:5-11 KJV
5 Let this mind be in you, which was
also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made Himself of no reputation,
and took upon Him the form of a Servant, and was made in the likeness
of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a
man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the
death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly
exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every
knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things
under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
I Timothy 3:16 KJV
And without controversy great is the
mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the
Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in
the world, received up into glory.
I John 4:2,3 KJV
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:
Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth
not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is
that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come;
and even now already is it in the world.
